Earlier today, NVIDIA announced that Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 2.0 is now available in both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (campaign, multiplayer, Spec Ops) and Call of Duty: Warzone. For those not in the know, NVIDIA's DLSS 2.0 uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to up-sample a lower resolution, giving gamers a boost in performance while offering image quality that's comparable to gaming at a higher [native] resolution. The performance uplift offered by DLSS 2.0 is made possible by the specialized Tensor cores found in GeForce RTX hardware in conjunction with the AI/ML algorithms and hooks incorporated into the game. For example, when using a 4K Balanced setting with... Read more...
How big will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it's Warzone spin-off, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ultimately get before all is said and done? Even Activision may not have a definitive answer to that question. However, the publisher did warn that the latest update could prove too bulky for some base model PlayStation 4 console owners, who may have to delete some content to make room. Activision has begun pushing out the Season Two update, and like previous ones, it requires a lot of storage space. So much, in fact, that Activision issued a warning to PS4 owners. "Those who own a standard PlayStation 4 with a default hard drive of 500GB may need to make room if they have the full versions... Read more...
Many argue that there is no such thing as completely original art, but there is certainly a difference between similar inspiration and outright plagiarism. Activision, Infinity Ward, and Major League Gaming Corp. are currently facing a copyright infringement lawsuit over this issue. The lawsuit argues that the character of “Mara” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is an exact copy of another existing character. The lawsuit has been filed Clayton Haugen of North Carolina. He hired cosplayer and Twitch streamer Alex Zedra in 2017 to portray his character “Cade Janus” in several of photographs. Cade Janus is an important character in Haugen’s work November Renaissance... Read more...
NVIDIA is pushing out a new 'Game Ready' driver for its GeForce GPUs (WHQL 456.55), and with it comes Reflex support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, along with optimizations for Star Wars: Squadrons. The GPU maker also claims its latest driver "improves stability in certain games on RTX 30 series GPUs" as well. Consider yourself lucky if you managed to pick up a GeForce RTX 3080 or GeForce RTX 3090 (and have not been running into any issues with cheap capacitors). Those cards are in super high demand, and as a result, NVIDIA and its retail partners quickly sold out of initial inventories, leading to silly prices on eBay. More supply will come, of course, as well as... Read more...
This past week has been full of video game updates and Call of Duty is no exception. Infinity Ward just dropped the Season Four Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone which includes new contracts, weapons, and has temporarily increased the number of players in Warzone. Update Size and Requirements The update is between 22-36GB in size for Modern Warfare owners. Console players will also need to install an additional 3.5GB update and then reboot their system. Warzone players will need to download an update that is between 22GB-30GB. Infinity Ward promises that there will be a “reduction to the overall footprint.” This is overall smaller than the Season 4... Read more...
Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward have figured out a surefire way to rile up gamers—push out a game update that checks in at a whopping 84 gigabytes. Actually, it is closer to 85GB, but even rounding down does little quell the rising tide of criticism over massive game updates, a category this one punches into like the Kool-Aid character smashing through a wall. To the credit of Infinity Ward, the developer offered a heads up that the update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone would be "large." That may have been underselling it a bit, but at least the sizeable download did not come completely out of left field. "The Season 4 download is going to be large. In order... Read more...
There's a reason the video games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are called first-person shooters, as gamers see the action on the screen through the eyes of the character they're controlling. Modern Warfare is a quintessential first-person shooter, but some fans have been asking for a third-person perspective for the game. An alleged glitch in the game has turned up that allows players to experience third-person mode again. The glitch enabled third-person mode with a video posted to reddit showing a player running around the Shoot House map while playing Survival mode. The franchise in the past did have a third-person view in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in modes like team tactical and cage... Read more...
Players who cheat are the scourge of online gaming, and it is an ongoing problem in popular titles. Suspensions and permanent bans are the tools of the trade for developers and publishers who seek to keep the issue at bay, though Infinity Ward and Activision have another idea—players suspected of cheating in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be matched up together. This is in line with Activision's "zero tolerance" policy towards cheating. At the beginning of the month, the publisher announced it had dropped the ban hammer on 50,000 cheaters in Warzone alone, and promised to provide updated stats as time went on. The most recent update came on April 13, in which... Read more...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans should be excited to hear that Season 3 for the game is now available. The new season includes new maps, new playlists, and brings updates for the free-to-play Warzone mode that has proven very popular. The three new maps include Aniyah Incursion, Talsik Backlot, and Hovee Sawmill; all of which are 6v6. Talsik Backlot is almost right out of the original Modern Warfare video game. This map has players in a deserted urban area of Urzikstan and offers a combination of close-quarters combat along with long-range sniper fighting. Hovee Sawmill is a new map set in the mountains of Kastovia. Players will shoot it out on rooftops, and one section of the map has a rolling... Read more...
A new leak has surfaced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans will be excited to see. The video goes over some of the finishing moves the players will be able to utilize against downed enemies. Anyone who is against violent video games will want to skip the video as the moves are certainly violent. Each of the characters in the game has their own move, and many of them utilize the same weapons. The video below shows the finishing moves being executed for the available characters. The assumption is that the animations will be used in the game's "Warzone" battle royale mode. While there's no way to confirm that, what else the moves would be for is a mystery. Just because these finishing... Read more...
There is little doubt that developer Infinity Ward is adding a battle royale to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This has been rumored for several months, and an in-game Season 2 trailer certainly seems to tease its eventual addition. On top of it all, a menu glitch and gameplay footage provide the strongest evidence yet that battle royale gameplay is headed to Modern Warfare, and soon. Nothing is real until it actually is, so we'll leave the door slightly ajar for the various leaks to all be wrong in some fashion. However, that's highly unlikely at this point. Leaked images point to a new mode called "Warzone," and there are even images of a new lobby screen that strongly hint at a battle royale... Read more...
Gamers all around the world often wonder if the developers of big games even think about how large updates are and consider that the internal drives on consoles are only 1TB out of the box. Depending on what games you play, you may get only a few titles before disk space is full, and an external drive is needed. This week, a new update was launched for Modern Warfare, and the file size was a massive 51 GB on the PS4, 68GB on Xbox One, and 94GB on PC. Infinity Ward Devs are promising, however, that they are working on making updates as small as possible. It's not just the most recent update that is so large, only a couple weeks ago another patch was launched that was 53GB in size, the game itself... Read more...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have more to worry about than getting sniped from a far, or capped in the back of the head at close range by an opponent. Instead, players are finding that an item that is supposed to actually help them is actually resulting in instant death. It all has to do with killstreaks, which made a return in the Modern Warfare reboot last year. They include items like a nuke, cruise missile, VTOL jet, or a UAV (among other devilishly devastating items). The items are randomly selected when you open a care package that is airdropped onto the map. Death upon contact with care package. from r/modernwarfare However, one reddit user, MineRaid, has discovered that an early-February... Read more...
The new decade has everyone feeling a little bit reflective, including fans of video games. The NPD Group, Inc. recently released a ton of information about the gaming market over the last ten years. This information included the best selling games of 2019 and the best selling games between 2010 and 2019. Grand Theft Auto V was the best selling game of the decade across all platforms, but the Call of Duty franchise truly won the 2010s. The NPD Group, Inc. is a New York-based market research company that tracks twenty different industries. Mat Piscatella, a video games market research analyst, recently posted on Twitter the information that the company has gathered both over the last year and... Read more...
Did you achieve your goals in 2019? One Call of Duty player ended the decade by breaking a world record. Redditor Payton132 was able to earn a tactical nuke within 29 seconds in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward recently introduced “Shipment” and “Vacant” to the game, with the former unfortunately having rather bad spawns. Many players have argued that poor spawning has made Shipment unenjoyable, but others are using the feature to their advantage. Some are trying to obtain the tactical nuke, the unlockable killstreak reward, as quickly as possible. The past record was held by Youtuber TapXNation and he was able to obtain the tactical nuke... The office can be a dangerous place. Forget about office politics, have you ever stubbed a toe on a file cabinet, threw out your back restocking the water cooler, or been attacked by a spinning chair? Our condolences if you answered "yes" to all three. Before you dismiss the latter as an actual workplace hazard, however, a clip of a murderous chair in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, should serve as a cautionary tale. Okay, maybe office chairs have never spun so hard that they actually killed someone (I don't have any stats on this). However, a user on Reddit discovered a hilarious glitch in which two spinning chairs inside the hotel of the St. Petrograd map can mortally wound players. Just colliding... Read more...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is celebrating the holidays with a cool new limited-time mode that is running through December 31 at 10 AM PT. The new limited-time Gunfight mode is called Snowfight and has players fighting it out with snowballs as their only weapons. The special mode is available on the Holiday-themed map Winter Docks. The game also has added Drop Zone with objective play that rewards players more than standard game modes for playing the objective. The only way that players can earn Killstreaks in this mode is by continually holding the drop zone to have a Care Package delivered to their location. Last week, the game received the Nikto Operator Bundle, and this week a new featured... Read more...
The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s battle royale mode may be just around the corner. The mode has not officially been confirmed, but its map has reportedly been found. A redditor used a glitch to explore Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s upcoming battle royale map. u/KingBeezoR discovered a glitch during a private match on the map “Vacant”. Once the game had started, u/KingBeezoR was able to use the spectate feature to wander around the map. They were able to explore far beyond Vacant’s typically boundaries. The map is not fully rendered, but u/KingBeezoR was still able to explore a variety of areas. Their explorations included “Gulag”, a 1v1... Read more...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have complained about a variety of issues with the game since its launch in August. One thing that players have been upset about is the absence of kill-death ratios during most matches. The good news is, Modern Warfare is now selling a cosmetic pack that includes a watch which shows a player’s stats. Unfortunately, the cosmetic pack rings in at a steep $20 USD and it feels like an obvious money grab. Players have typically been able to view their assists, deaths, and kills during matches in previous Call of Duty games. This feature helped players monitor their stats and adjust their gameplay style accordingly. In most standard modes, Modern Warfare’s... Read more...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans who liked to use the insanely overpowered shotgun to take out enemies from afar will be saddened by the latest update from Infinity Ward. The 725 shotgun had enough range that it was essentially a sniper rifle, and many were expecting it to be nerfed. With the latest update, that change has happened along with some other changes. We mentioned earlier this week in a story about the shotgun and issues with recoil that made some weapons less accurate when crouched. The crazy range of the 725 shotgun is no more. The update makes the shotgun have a bigger spread for both hip fire and when aimed down the sight. The damage range has also been greatly reduced. The update... Read more...
The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot is off to a fast start. According to an announcement sent out by Activision, Modern Warfare has sold more units in its first three days than any other Call of Duty game sold in the same time frame within "this console generation." It is also the top-selling premium game release of 2019, with over $600 million in sales in just three days. "Call of Duty is once again the top selling new premium game of the year, proving the enduring nature of the franchise across console, PC, mobile, and esports," said Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard’s Chief Executive Officer. "In its first three days of release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more... Read more...
