Amazon is sucking all of the oxygen out of the room this week with its Prime Day sales extravaganza. Prime Day normally lasts for just one day, but Amazon upped the ante this year by extending it to two days (July 16th through July 17th). Amazon Prime Day kicks off on Monday, July 16th and will last through July 17th. With many people eagerly awaiting what deals will be available, some manufacturers are cluing us in early on how far they will be discounting products to make the occasion. The latest is Razer, which is promising up to a 40 percent savings on its gaming devices and accessories. The Razer Phone will be on sale this coming Monday for up to 25 percent off depending on the model. Right now, the Razer phone is selling for $669 to $699 depending on the color. Late Monday, Amazon kicked off its annual Prime Day celebration with 30 hours of deals aimed at providing its loyal subscribers with discounts on thousands of products. Well, the numbers are in, and Amazon says that this year’s Prime Day was its biggest to date, with sales growing 60 percent year-over-year. According to Amazon, “tens of millions” of Prime members purchased at least one item during Prime Day. Although the online retail giant didn’t give a specific number for the subscribers that participated yesterday, it says that it increased 50 percent year-over-year. Amazon is getting ready to host its third annual Prime Day, which will feature hundreds of thousands of deals for Prime members spread out over 30 hours. It is sort of like a Black Friday or Cyber Monday event, only it is exclusive to members of Amazon's Prime program with a barrage of deals being adding as often as every five minutes. Compared to last year's Prime Day, customers this time around ordered 60 percent more good on a worldwide basis, and 50 percent more in the U.S. alone.
