The ink is barely dry on Google’s announcement of its new mid-range Pixel 4a smartphone, which is priced at $399, and now Motorola has revealed that its [previously] international market-only One Fusion+ is coming to the United States. Not surprisingly, primary specifications for the One Fusion+ and the Pixel 4a are closely aligned. Both smartphones feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC (Snapdragon 730G on the Pixel 4a), 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Things take a turn when it comes to the display, as the One Fusion+ features a larger 6.5-inch FHD+ panel that is unbroken by notches or a hole punch cutout. Instead, it features a pop-up selfie camera, which is uncommon... Read more...
Google today announced the availability of its long-anticipated (and very late) Pixel 4a budget smartphone. The device uses legacy 4G LTE connectivity, but comes with a very enticing $349 price tag. However, Google also announced two other smartphones that have been expected based on previous leaks: the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5. With regards to the Pixel 4a (5G), Google says that the smartphone will launch this fall with a $499 price tag. In other words, you’re looking at a $150 upcharge to go from 4G LTE to 5G technology. The standard Pixel 4a comes with a 5.81-inch OLED display, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC. We don’t at this point know... Read more...
Following a barrage of leaks and rumors over the past several weeks, Google today officially unveiled the Pixel 4a, an affordable phone that is somewhat the antithesis to those pricey flagships that command a grand or more. In this case, the pre-release chatter was spot on—the Pixel 4a can be had for just $349, and it is available to preorder right now. You can preorder the Pixel 4a at Amazon or direct from Google, both of which have it listed for $349. To put that price into perspective, Apple's iPhone SE starts at $399, and the OnePlus Nord starts at €399 (it's not listed in the US yet). Not that these three phones are exactly the same by any stretch, but on pricing along, the Pixel... Read more...
Google is on the cusp of launching some new Pixel phones, including the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5. Leaving little to the imagination, both have been the star of separate leaks this weekend, with official looking renders (and a concept video) and pricing information, and even some specifications to tide you over until Google officially unwraps its upcoming handsets. Starting with the Pixel 4a, Twitter user and leaker Ishan Agarwal got his mitts on what look to be official press renders (as in, not unofficial mock ups), as shown above. The shots are consistent with past renders we have seen, and in all likelihood are the real deal. According to Agarwal, the Pixel 4a will feature a 5.81-inch OLED display... Read more...
It's virtually impossible for a smartphone maker to keep its devices secret today as the supply chain is packed with sources looking to share information about unannounced devices. Sometimes details of products surface from manufacturers through mistakes that lead to order pages, and advertisements being posted early. The official Made by Google Facebook and Twitter pages were updated with a new cover image recently that, at first glance, may seem like a mistake. The new cover images show what appears to be an advertisement with some of the words in the bolded main sentence redacted out. A Google Store landing page features a similar main bolded section of text. Under the bolded main sentence... Read more...
Is the wait nearly over for the mid-range Google Pixel 4a smartphone? After months of leaks involving not only images of the device but also its retail box, we recently were made aware of regulatory approvals for the Pixel 4a from various government agencies. Today, it looks as though the final “official” launch date has been revealed by a highly reliable source:  Jon Prosser. Prosser has a pretty solid track record when it comes to gadget leaks, and his sources have “100% confirmed” that the Pixel 4a will launch on August 3rd, which is next Monday.  Prosser’s declaration that August 3rd is the magic day for the highly anticipated Pixel... The anticipation has been building towards the release of the Pixel 4a for months, and every time that we get closer to a [expected] release, nothing happens. The latest tease comes from Google itself, as it has leaked a previously unseen image of the Pixel 4a at its online store. The high-quality render doesn't show the entirety of the phone, but we can see enough (the upper half) from the front and back. The image of the back confirms the single primary camera and LED flash within a much larger square pod, along with an optical fingerprint sensor. On the front, we can spy a selfie camera nestled with a cutout in the upper left-hand side of the display. Also visible are relatively thin... Read more...
When it comes to Google's family of hardware products, everything can and will be leaked at some point prior to launch. Last year's Pixel 4 was leaked so far in advance that Google made light of the situation by providing an official render of the device that confirmed the previous leaks. Today, it's time for Google's 2020 family of smartphones to get the leak treatment, and this source is Google's own software. In this case, the leak comes from the Google Search app, which includes references to some interesting unreleased products. The folks from 9to5Google uncovered not only the expected Pixel 4a and Pixel 5, but also the Pixel 4a (5G). If the leak is... Read more...
At this point, many people are saying "Just release it already" when it comes to the Pixel 4a. Google's next-generation mid-range smartphone has been highly anticipated, but its release has been reportedly delayed due to a number of factors including "market conditions" and the COVID-19 pandemic.  However, the Pixel 4a has recently gained regulatory approval at the FCC and now the phone has appeared in the TUV Rheinland certification database. Carrying the designation G025J, the smartphone is shown to feature a slightly larger 3,140 mAh battery compared to 3,000 mAh for its Pixel 3a predecessor.  In practice, we likely won't see a significant improvement in battery life... Google just announced that it has discounted its most popular smartphones: the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. While both the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are both still listed on Google Store, they are currently showing as out of stock. Google provided the following statement with regards to its Pixel 3a family to Android Police: Google Store has sold through its inventory and completed sales of Pixel 3a. For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 3a, the product is available from some partners while supplies last. That definitely seems to be the case, as we could still find the Google Pixel 3a in stock from Best Buy: Google Pixel 3a $399 @ Best Buy Google Pixel 3a XL $479 @ Best Buy However,... Read more...
At this point, we've almost given up hope on the Pixel 4a. It's been over a year since Google launched the very well-received Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL mid-range smartphones, and the successor is nowhere to be found. That's not to say that we haven't seen leaked images, specs, and even retail box shots for the Pixel 4a, but what's taking Google so long to actually release the phone? Well, we now know that the Pixel 4a has gained its FCC certification, as three FCC IDs passed through the regulatory agency's testing labs. Those model numbers included the G025J, G025M, and G025N; with the first reportedly being reserved for U.S. devices. Making an appearance at the FCC is usually one of the very... Read more...
We're about 99.9% certain that the Pixel 4a will soon be within our reach, but we can't say the same for the Pixel 4a XL, which would have launched alongside the new mid-range smartphone. The Pixel 4a has leaked over and over again, but we've seen little of its larger sibling -- that's because the smartphone was reportedly canceled by the higher ups at Google. However, new renders are giving us a glimpse at what the Pixel 4a XL would have looked like, and it's a familiar formula to what we've seen from the Pixel 4a leaks. The device would have measured 154.3 x 73.9 x 8.2mm, making it a bit smaller than the preceding Pixel 3a XL (due to the reduced display bezels). The display also shares... Read more...
With the Pixel 4a looming on the horizon, discounts are starting to pile up on the current generation Pixel 3a family. That’s good news for those that don’t want to wait until July for the Pixel 4a’s arrival, and need a low-cost smartphone right now. Amazon is selling both the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL at record low prices for unlocked models. In the case of the Pixel 3a, we’re looking at a price tag of $279, which matches the low that we first told you about back in December. As for the Pixel 3a XL, it’s available for a low $319, which is $40 below the previous low. These prices represent discounts of $120 and $150 respectively off their MSRPs. Google Pixel... The Google Pixel 4a has leaked so much, that the only thing really missing right now is an official launch date. As recently as April 29th, the rumors on the internet have suggested that Google would launch its new mid-range smartphone on May 22nd, which is tomorrow. However, a tweet from Jon Prosser is casting down on that previous rumor. According to Prosser, the launch was been pushed back to June, and Google has now pushed it out even further to July 13th. So, that’s a little under two months away from now, right smack dab during the middle of summer. Given how much we’ve seen leaked regarding the Pixel 4a up until this point, many are probably wondering why Google hasn’t... Read more...
We’ve been hearing quite a bit about Google’s upcoming Pixel 4a mid-range smartphone, but not much is really known about its more powerful brother: the Pixel 5. In a report last week, we heard rumors that the Pixel 4a could launch at $349 with base storage of 128GB making it a direct competitor to the new, second-generation iPhone SE. Today, that $349 price point was seemingly confirmed by a Google survey sent out to prospective buyers, which was subsequently posted to reddit. The survey makes reference to a “radically helpful phone” – whatever that means – that has a plastic body and a 3.5mm headphone jack. That is almost certainly referencing the... Read more...
When Apple launched the second-generation iPhone SE last month, it dropped a nuke on the mid-range smartphone market with flagship performance at a bargain price of $399. Sure, the iPhone SE's design is rather dated with huge display bezels, but it gets the basics right and the device will be supported for at least the next half-decade. Google has been playing in the mid-range space with its Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL for the past year, and has drawn praise for its value and solid camera performance. The Pixel 4a launch is imminent based on recent leaks, and Google could have a few tricks up its sleeve to combat the iPhone SE threat. According to reporting from 9to5Google's Stephen... As is the case with just about every Google smartphone, the mid-range Pixel 4a has leaked on numerous occasions ahead of its official release. Today, we're gaining some insight into when the Pixel 4a will actually launch, and if the report is accurate, it will be available in less than a month. This information comes from a German blog, which alleges that it received internal documentation from wireless carrier Vodafone that confirms a May 22nd launch. As Android Police points out, this date lines nicely with the canceled Google I/O event due to COVID-19, which was originally scheduled to take place between May 12th and May 14th. So, it's very possible that Google... Read more...
There have been many signs pointing to the impending release of the Pixel 4a. From the discontinuation of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, to a massive price drop for the Pixel 3a — the smartphones will soon be upon us.  Now, new evidence is surfacing in the form of images of the alleged retail box for the Pixel 4a, which come courtesy of TechDroider. There’s not much to be gleaned from the images themselves other than the prototypical look for Pixel phone packaging and confirmation of the square camera pod on the rear. Unfortunately, there are no images showing the specs of the smartphone, which would have been nice. In a separate report, 9to5Google is... Read more...
It was a good run for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, a pair of flagship phones Google released in 2018. Now a year and a half later, however, Google has sold out of its remaining inventory of both handsets and does not have any plans to produce more of them. So, if you are interested in buying one, you will have to track one down outside of Google's Store. The landing pages for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL now redirect users to the main Google Store page. And if you expand the Phones category, you will see just two listings now—Pixel 4 and Pixel 3a (both of which are still available). Google confirmed with the folks at Android Police that it's inventory of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices has... Read more...
It has not been quite a full year since Google released the Pixel 3a, a budget version of the Pixel 3 with respectable features at a tantalizing price. It originally debuted at $399, which was a welcome respite against flagship phones that command four figures. Now, however, you can snag one for as low as $149.99 at Best Buy. There are some caveats in order to purchase the Pixel 3a at that price. The first is you need to activate it right away. Otherwise, the phone costs $299.99. Secondly, you have to activate it with either Sprint or Verizon. If you choose to activate it with AT&T, the price is $199.99. And lastly, the $149.99 price is good for new lines or new accounts, not existing ones.... Read more...
We still have a couple of months to go before Google formally introduces its Pixel 4a family, assuming it sticks to the same release schedule as the Pixel 3a, which was announced at least year's Google I/O event. Launch pricing might also be the same—rumor has it the Pixel 4A will start at $399, making it once again far cheaper than some premium phones that breach the $1,000 mark. The current-generation Pixel 3a XL that we reviewed last year earned high praise from us as a full-featured, affordable phone delivering a pure Android experience. It is obviously too early to judge, be we are likewise holding out hope that the Pixel 4a is another ointment for the rash of ultra-expensive smartphones... Read more...
Google Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a XL news has been leaking quite frequently in the past few weeks, mainly in the form of images. Today, however, we're getting our first look at the smartphone on video along with confirmation of specs for the entry-level device. A video from TecnoLike Plus has been posted which highlights the smaller of the two expected smartphones: the Pixel 4a. Looking at the device from the front, we see a punch hole cut-out for the selfie camera at the top right-hand side of the display (something that we've seen on previous photo leaks) along with pretty large bezels around all sides of the display. The side bezels are especially large -- compared to what we... Read more...
