Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 family of ultraportables has always been popular, and the company is looking to widen its appeal even further with the introduction of three new models. The devices feature all-new designs, and are among the thinnest and lightest in their respective classes. ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga Starting things off is the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, which is a 2-in-1 convertible with a 13.5-inch 2K (2256x1504) touch display. Given that it’s part of the Yoga family, it has a 360-degree hinge, while the 2K display has a 3:2 aspect ratio and covers 100 percent of the sRGB color space. Augmented reality (AR) has had ups and downs over the years, from the original Google Glass in 2013 to Microsoft’s HoloLens in 2016 and the Enterprise Google Glass in 2019. Ultimately, the technology could prove to be incredibly useful, but it is a bit “out there” for most people. Now, Lenovo is entering the augmented reality ring at CES 2021 with the ThinkReality A3 Smart Glasses, which are some good-looking glasses that could boost AR's future. According to Lenovo, the ThinkReality A3 glasses are part of a goal to “deliver intelligent transformation in business and bring smarter technology to more people.” They state that how we work, learn, and interact is changing,... Tiny handheld PCs are not exactly a foreign concept to us here at HotHardware. Just a few weeks ago, we brought you news of the GPD Win 3, which is powered by up to an 11th generation Core i7-1165G7. That handheld gaming PC has a sliding display that reveals a QWERTY keyboard beneath, but not everyone is familiar with the GPD brand. Luckily for us, Lenovo and NEC might have the next best thing in the form of the LaVie Mini, which is an extension of the Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) form factor from over a decade ago. The LaVie Mini has a tiny 8-inch display with a respectable resolution of 1920x1200 (WUXGA). Powering the machine is a modern Core i7-1180G7 Tiger Lake processor... Read more...

Little by little, NVIDIA has been fleshing out its GeForce RTX 30 series on the desktop, even if the cards are rarely in stock. Now standing four SKUs tall, you can bet NVIDIA is not finished adding to the pile. Less expensive Ampere options are on the horizon (currently the cheapest card is the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, priced at $399), and adding to the deluge of leaks, Lenovo has basically confirmed three more unannounced cards. Before we get to those, let's talk about the current lineup. NVIDIA released the GeForce RTX 3080 on September 17, with a price set at $699. Then a week later on September 24, it released the GeForce RTX 3090 for $1,499. The GeForce RTX 3070 would follow a month later,... Read more...
Lenovo was among the first partners to announce support for AMD’s Ryzen 4000 U-series mobile processors. When it initially unveiled the processors, AMD also revealed the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7, which was the first thin-and-light, ultrabook-class machine to pack an 8-core / 16-thread processor. To date, all other notebooks in this category featured dual or quad-core processors, with support for up to 8-threads. That kind of bump in core count could mean big things for the kind of multi-threaded workloads that are increasingly becoming more common among content creators and heavy multi-taskers. Thanks to Lenovo’s choice of platform, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7 also features integrated... Read more...
As time goes on, Intel's 10-nanometer Tiger Lake processors will pounce on more laptop designs, given that it has only been a handful of weeks since the chip maker launched its latest mobile CPUs (which replace Ice Lake). Lenovo was quick out of the gate, however, and the company sent us an interesting sub-$1,000 Tiger Lake configuration from its rather plentiful 2-in-1 lineup. Specifically, the Lenovo Yoga 7i that arrived on our doorstep, and it's a flexible 14-inch convertible which is also the first to land in our lab armed with an 11th Gen Core i5-1135G7 processor in tow. Our dalliances with Intel's Tiger Lake platform up to this point have been encounters with higher end SKUs, including... Read more...
Christmas is right around the corner, and if you are doing some last-minute holiday shopping (whether for someone else or yourself), there are some nice bargains out there. Who wants to pay full price? I certainly do not, and if you would rather not as well, then check out some of these hot deals on various PC hardware, including a gaming desktop. Shown above is the ABS Master Gaming PC, on sale for $949.99 at Newegg (save $150 - 14% off). Black Friday and Cyber Monday may have come and gone, but that isn't stopping the discount train for barreling down the tracks as we approach Christmas. Such is the case with the Lenovo Yoga 7i, which is a respectable and feature-filled 2-in-1 convertible running Windows 10 Home. The 14-inch version of the Yoga 7i normally is priced at $899, which isn't at all a bad price. However, Best Buy is currently selling the device for $250 off, bringing it down to $649.99 with free shipping. That price gets you a 14-inch Full HD (1920x1080) touch display and an 11th generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 Tiger Lake processor with integrated 12th generation Iris Xe graphics. The processor is paired... Read more...
Black Friday is a great time to splurge on hot tech items for ourselves -- a la new smartphones; perhaps a new PlayStation 5 if you can find one -- but it's also a great time to score deals for our loved ones that are in need. During this somewhat insufferable COVID-19 lull that has blanketed the country, many school age children in particular are in need of a computer to take part in virtual learning. If your school district doesn't provide a laptop for your virtual homeschooler, or if you just need a cheap replacement for a device that they might have broken, we've got a few deals for you that won't break the bank. First up is the Lenovo IdeaPad 1, which is about as cheap a deal as you'll find... Read more...
Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 series, the company's flagship notebook lineup, is no stranger to our offices. The various iterations of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon are some of our favorite ultra-light notebooks. In recent years, Lenovo has pushed the X1 family into 2-in-1 convertible devices as well, and we've very much liked these types of systems in the past as well. Today, the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 5 has returned to us, with a 360-degree hinge and a punchy 14-inch 4K display.  The updated ThinkPad X1 Yoga arrived with an Intel 10th-generation Core processor. However, Intel's product naming recently has been somewhat confusing, to say the least. 10th Gen Core i7 processors come in two flavors: the... Read more...
While we are still in the early stages, more and more PC manufacturers have jumped aboard the Windows on Arm train. First we had Microsoft's initial offering, the Surface Pro X. Then Samsung joined the fray with the traditional-looking Galaxy Book S, with battery life that lasted for days. Now Lenovo has crashed the party with the Flex 5G, a machine with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8cx 5G system on a chip (SoC) stuffed inside a versatile, a do-it-all convertible 2-in-1 design.  Reviewing an Arm-based Windows PC every few months gives us a glimpse into the evolution of the Arm ecosystem. At first, there weren't many production-ready apps—even Microsoft's Edge web browser was in its beta infancy... Read more...
Lenovo is bringing out some laptop power with the updated ThinkBook line of laptops. Packing new features, specs, and tricks, these laptops are poised to be solid productivity and creation devices. The first device we have on the docket is the Lenovo ThinkBook 13s Gen 2, a little laptop that can pack quite a punch. Lenovo’s little laptop that could is the “slimmest ThinkBook yet,” topping out at 14.9mm. While also thin, it is lightweight too, weighing in at 2.77lbs. Though it is small, do not confuse its size for power. This thing can be powered by the latest Intel 11th Gen Core i7 processors (Tiger Lake) with Intel Iris Xe graphics for handling any workload. The processor will... Read more...
Lenovo is looking to break barriers with two new ThinkPad entries that advance the mobile market in completely different ways. The first is the more traditional ThinkPad X1 Nano, which is the lightest ThinkPad that the company has ever created, while the second is the equally fascinating ThinkPad X1 Fold. We've talked about the ThinkPad X1 Fold on a several occasions previously, but the company now is ready to open the device up for preorders. ThinkPad X1 Nano If you thought that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon was light, you ain't seen nothing yet. Lenovo says that the ThinkPad X1 Nano weighs in at a remarkably low 1.99 pounds, while leveraging Intel's newest 11th generation Tiger Lake... Read more...
Lenovo devices are tussling with Windows 10 and it is leading to many “blue screen of death” issues for ThinkPad devices manufactured in 2019 and 2020. Microsoft and Lenovo are working to solve the issue, but in the meantime, both companies have put out a workaround. According to Microsoft, if a Lenovo ThinkPad device received the Windows Update for KB4568831 Preview (OS Build 19041.423), you may encounter a stop error or blue screen of death (BSOD). This is caused by processes accessing peripheral component interconnect device configurations incorrectly. If Enhanced Windows Biometric Security is enabled in the UEFI of Lenovo ThinkPad devices made in 2019 or 2020, this error occurs.... Read more...

15-inch gaming laptops are a dime a dozen these days, as they are available across a wide range of price points. Lenovo, however, is taking a slightly different approach with its latest release, which is called the Legion Slim 7i. Rather than placing all of its potent hardware components in a thick and heavy chassis, Lenovo is boasting that the Legion Slim 7i is the world’s lightest 15-inch gaming laptop. To that end, the Legion Slim 7i is only 0.7 inches thick, and weighs just 3.96 pounds. That’s quite respectable for a gaming laptop of that size, which is helped in part by its aluminum chassis that is finished in Slate Grey. At the heart of the Legion Slim 7i are Intel’s latest...
