Back in late June, we were alerted to a new product announcement on tap for August 2nd from Motorola. Luckily for us, we're here live in Chicago at Motorola HQ today to see what the company has in store for consumers, and it's quite interesting. The company launched the all-new Moto Z3, which serves as the follow-up to last year's Moto Z2. It has a 6-inch Full HD+ OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio that takes up most of the front of the device. There are still notable bezels on the bottom and top, but it at least doesn't mar your viewing experience with a notch (if you’re not into those newfangled notched flagships). However, we do have a bit of mixed news on the processing front.... Read more...

The Lenovo Smart display is the first in an assault of Google Assistant-enabled devices set to hit the market this year. They will take on Amazon's Echo Show in a battle for smart home assistant technology, with not only a set of ears, but also a set of eyes and a display face to complete the experience. Priced at $249.99 for a 10-inch version and $199.99 for an 8-inch variant, with identical hardware specs except for the display, these are a new breed of smart home devices that have the potential to give Google and its OEM partners a leg-up on Amazon. Since they're part of the "Android Things" ecosystem, Android users will have direct access to their data and media on Google's many... Read more...
Way back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show, Lenovo announced its Smart Display family. The Smart Displays take the concept of the Google Home or Google Home Mini and add a touch screen into the mix. Lenovo and Google announced today that the Smart Display will be available in U.S. retail locations and online stores starting this weekend. The Lenovo Smart Display is available in two screen sizes: 8-inches or 10-inches with HD resolutions. Looking at the devices, you wouldn't be out of line to say that it's a Google Assistant-backed alternative to the Amazon Echo Show.  Given that it leverages the Android Things Platform with Google Assistant, you'll be able to... Lenovo has pulled the wraps off a new mobile professional workstation: the ThinkPad P52. The laptop is Lenovo’s very first VR-Ready Certified mobile workstation that is available in a relatively compact 15-inch chassis. Depending on your computing needs, you can select from either 8th generation Intel Xeon or Core i7 hexa-core processors, which can support up to 128GB of DDR4 memory (ECC modules up to 16GB, non-ECC modules up to 32GB). Storage won’t be a concern for those that choose to fully max out SSD and HDD options, as the ThinkPad P52 internally supports up to 6GB. On the graphics front, Lenovo has outfitted the ThinkPad P52 with NVIDIA’s new Quadro P3200 GPU (which... Read more...
Has Lenovo been trolling us all for the past month? Over the past few weeks Lenovo has peppered the internet with sketches and renders of the Lenovo Z5 that showed a "true" bezel-less design. In fact, Lenovo VP Chang Cheng promised a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio, which would far surpass anything else on the market. The actual end result is a bit more disappointing. Not only is the screen-to-body ratio lower at 90 percent, but the smartphone has both a display notch at the top and a chin at the bottom. Is Lenovo now dabbling in alternative facts? What we thought was going to be a breakthrough bezel-less smartphone has instead turned out to be another run-of-the mill Android smartphone.... Read more...
Lenovo sure did talk a big game when with regards to its upcoming Z5 flagship smartphone. The company billed the smartphone as being a true bezel-less design, and the concept sketch for the smartphone confirmed those statements. Previously released renders of the smartphone that have also highlighted ultra-tiny bezels. However, we're now learning why Lenovo has been strategic in the renders/photos that it has shown of the smartphone. The latest leaked image of the Lenovo Z5 reveals that the smartphone has a prominent "chin" at the bottom. In that sense, the Lenovo Z5 is similar in design to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, which also features slim bezels and a thicker chin at the... Read more...
We already know that Lenovo has a tasty new Android flagship on the way called the Lenovo Z5. However, we're learning this week that the bezel-less smartphone will make its official debut on June 5th. The official unveil, which will take place in China, was announced via the Chinese social networking platform Weibo. The headlining feature of the Z5 will no doubt be its display, which Lenovo claims will have an amazing 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. The display will not have an unsightly notch in the top center, as we've seen with the iPhone X and a growing number of Android smartphones. Instead, the display will be completely unbroken and will cover nearly the entire front of the smartphone.... Read more...
The ThinkPad line of notebooks has a long, storied history, from its beginnings as an IBM product, to Lenovo's continued refinements and improvements, generation over generation. ThinkPads are well known, often sought after products, especially by business-class road warriors, due to their no-nonsense design language, excellent keyboards, and reputation for reliability.  In addition, ThinkPads have had one other thing remain consistent over the years -- a glorious little red nub, called a TrackPoint or pointing stick, that remains faithfully nestled between the G and H keys. For some it's a love it or hate it sort of feature but Lenovo has maintained it generation after generation, so it's... Read more...
Sprint is offering a deal that folks who are interested in one of the new slick little Qualcomm Snapdragon Always Connected PC Platform devices will really love. The deal allows eligible devices to get free unlimited LTE data for the entirety of 2018. There are three devices that are eligible for the free data offer, including the ASUS NovaGo, HP Envy X2, and the Lenovo Miix 630. All three of those devices are on the aforementioned Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform and employ a Qualcomm X16LTE modem. The 2-in1 machines look very similar to the Microsoft Surface Pro with ultra-portable detachable or convertible designs, some with keyboard covers. The fine print on the deal notes that the free... Lenovo recently unveiled several new budget IdeaPad laptops with prices starting at just $249, but apparently one of the new models is serving as a launchpad of sorts for Intel's 10-nanometer Cannon Lake processors. The 10nm part was spotted in a listing in China for Lenovo's IdeaPad 330-15, a 15.6-inch laptop with a 1366x768 resolution priced at 3,299 yuan, which works out to around $520 in US currency. It feels like we have been waiting ages for Cannon Lake to arrive, though that is exaggerating things a bit. Still, it has not been easy for Intel to streamline its 10nm production process, as there have been multiple delays pushing back the launch. More recently, Intel promised to start shipping... A sketch of an alleged Lenovo smartphone called the Z5 has turned up and this sketch shows an Android device that has a screen that covers nearly the entire front and has no notch. The sketch was shared by Lenovo VP Chang Chen via Weibo. A message was offered along with the image that claims this will be Lenovo's newest flagship smartphone. Since this is just a sketch, it would seem to be a concept at this point or at least a very early design, but there is no indication of how far along the Z5 is in development. The trick for designing phones like the Z5 without having to resort to a notch is to figure out ways to hide all the sensors that the device needs on the front. Things like... Read more...

We have covered Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Yoga series since its inception, and while the company might only be on its 3rd generation machine, what's under its hood is what might be thought of as four generations of advancement since then. Of course we are speaking of the 8th Gen Intel Core-i5 8250U quad-core mobile processor on board the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga. What makes this chip different from its predecessor, is it has 4 psychical cores now and supports Hyper-Threading, all within the same 15W power envelope. At just 15W the Core i5-8250U doesn't require hefty thermal solution and large chassis to prevent a full on meltdown  so, Lenovo was able to pack an impressive 8 thread chip... Read more...
