Fortnite is a free game and it would be easy to think that going this route would mean meager revenue for its developer. However, analytics firm Sensor Tower conducted a survey that found Fortnite was making an average of a million bucks per day on player spending. That puts a new light on the suit for copyright infringement Fortnite publisher Epic Games is facing from PUBG. Another research firm by the name of LendEDU has taken a closer look at the financial powerhouse that Fortnite has become, and conducted a survey of 1,000 players to find out some statistics on how that $1 million daily income... Over the weekend, Epic Games sent Fortnite players an in-game message announcing it will soon be launching a new game mode called 'Playground' to "Let your creativity run wild on your own private island!" The upcoming mode will be available for a limited time, perhaps as early as tomorrow, though it's not clear exactly how long it will remain. However, we do know some other details about the Playground mode that Epic Games previous shared. Firing up Playground will load players into the battle royale map with some adjusted settings. Predicting the level of success enjoyed by PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, aka PUBG, would have been very tough ahead of its launch. Who could really predict that an indie title would have three million concurrent players mere months after its launch? Since that time, the game has added two new maps, alternating modes, and more aesthetic enhancements than you can shake a frying pan at. Unfortunately for developer PUBG Corporation, the game has been on the decline ever since the start of the year, despite the team rolling out of the new maps and mechanics. The website Steam Charts shows that... Read more...
Epic Games has gone official with all the details of the V4.2 content update and it brings something that fans have been clamoring for: jetpacks. Jetpacks are part of a new item type coming to Battle Royale called Backpacks, not to be confused with Back Bling. Backpacks are gameplay items that can’t be purchased as cosmetics. Another key difference is that Backpacks fill an inventory slot just as if it were a weapon or consumable. Backpacks are Legendary rarity items and are found in Treasure Chests. Only one backpack can be carried at a time and if you pick up a different backpack while... Read more...
Fortnite is perhaps the most popular game in the world at the moment thanks to its accessibility (it's available for PC, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, iOS), immersive gameplay and constant updates. Now, one major platform that has previously been left out will finally be able to join in on the fun. In a "State of Mobile" blog post this morning, Epic Games announced that Fortnite will be coming to Android this summer. This is simply a "targeted" date, so the release could slip. However, the fact that it is in fact coming should be music to the ears of gamers using the world's most dominant mobile... Read more...
The battle royale genre is emerging as one of the biggest developments in gaming since the advent of first person shooters, or at least it feels that way with how popular PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite are at the moment. Taking on both, and especially the latter with its cel-shaded graphics, is a new game called Crazy Justice, and it's headed to the Nintendo Switch with cross-platform gameplay. Crazy Justice hit the crowdfunding scene last year where it raised over $51,000 from 556 backers. It would raise more money following the campaign, hitting $67,128 in all. Those are all...
