The battle royale genre is hot right now with games like Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone ruling the roost. But there's a new entry into the segment that is about to be revealed by Ubisoft, and it's reportedly called Hyper Scape. Hyper Scape will be a free-to-play, first-person shooter (FPS) style game developed by Ubisoft Montreal. For those keeping score, this is the same studio that developed the Rainbow Six games along with the Assassin's Creed series. The game is reportedly set well into the future, and will offer fast-paced gameplay. Ubisoft is aiming for a heavy streamer influence to take the game viral, and is reportedly fostering a deep relationship with Twitch... Read more...
It is the end of the world as we know it, at least in Fortnite, and players feel fine. A doomsday countdown timer recently appeared in the battle royale smash-hit game, and this particular timer likely hints at an end-of-season event for Chapter 2 Season 2. Data miners quickly found files for a countdown timer after the v12.60 update was dropped. This timer is now visible to players in two locations. One timer appears on the player’s home screen, while another is visible in Midas’ office (seen above). The timers are counting down to end on Saturday, May 30 at 2:05 PM  EST. The timers are not the only indication of an end-of-season event. Tubes that lead to an orb-shaped... Read more...
Fortnite has been busy tweaking the game to make it more social than competitive in some modes. One of the social things that Fortnite has been doing is hosting concerts that fans can come and listen to. These concerts have been a success for Epic Games so far. A surprise DJ Diplo concert happened last night. Last week Fortnite hosted a Travis Scott concert called Astronomical that saw the game break participant records with as many as 27.7 million unique players participating live across the five events for the Travis Scott concert. Fortnite hosted another concert that took place on the Fortnite Party Royale Main Stage last night and had a performance by DJ Diplo as the lead for the Major Lazer... Read more...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans should be excited to hear that Season 3 for the game is now available. The new season includes new maps, new playlists, and brings updates for the free-to-play Warzone mode that has proven very popular. The three new maps include Aniyah Incursion, Talsik Backlot, and Hovee Sawmill; all of which are 6v6. Talsik Backlot is almost right out of the original Modern Warfare video game. This map has players in a deserted urban area of Urzikstan and offers a combination of close-quarters combat along with long-range sniper fighting. Hovee Sawmill is a new map set in the mountains of Kastovia. Players will shoot it out on rooftops, and one section of the map has a rolling... Read more...
As with many Fortnite weekly challenges, the hardest part for some of them is finding where you're supposed to go. This week, one of the big challenges is for players to find Lake Canoe, Camp Cod, and Rainbow Rentals and do a little dance. The exact locations where players need to get their groove on are unmarked on the map. However, we've conjured a map below that shows where you can find each of the three locations. Lake Canoe has about 50 canoes in the area, making it easy to identify. The map below shows that it's on the East side of the island not far from The Grotto and the Dirty Docks. Camp Cod is in the southeastern part of the map and is a large island southeast of Misty Meadows. Rainbow... Read more...
We think it’s fair to say that Activision has a winner on its hands with Call of Duty: Warzone. The standalone battle royale game launched two weeks ago to much fanfare and has been well received by gamers (and the gaming press). With popular, free-to-play mechanics and good worth-of-mouth buzz, Activision-Blizzard is now claiming that Warzone has hit 30 million active players in less than two weeks. To put that figure into perspective, when Apex Legends launched back in 2019, it racked up 25 million players in a week. However, Warzone has one big thing going for it when it comes to its stellar player numbers: COVID-19 (coronavirus).  Over 30 million of you have dropped... Read more...

There is little doubt that developer Infinity Ward is adding a battle royale to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This has been rumored for several months, and an in-game Season 2 trailer certainly seems to tease its eventual addition. On top of it all, a menu glitch and gameplay footage provide the strongest evidence yet that battle royale gameplay is headed to Modern Warfare, and soon. Nothing is real until it actually is, so we'll leave the door slightly ajar for the various leaks to all be wrong in some fashion. However, that's highly unlikely at this point. Leaked images point to a new mode called "Warzone," and there are even images of a new lobby screen that strongly hint at a battle royale... Read more...
Look, anyone who plays Fortnite who says they don't want a Polar Renegade Spray is lying. I mean, just look at it (show above)! Okay, maybe not everyone cares about earning the uncommon spray, which is from the Bear Brigade set. But for those who do, completing a Winterfest challenge is the key (which starts with your stocking). More on that in a moment. First, let's start with Day 12 challenge, which involves destroying Snowflake Decorations around the map. There are several that are scattered across the map, and it can take a bit of time hunting them down. However, you only need to destroy three of them, so that makes things a little easier. These can be found at POIs on the map, though the... Read more...

Needless to say, many developers are looking to get in on the battle royale free-for-all, and the latest is Tencent Next Studios with the announcement of Synced: Off-Planet. When I was 16 years old, I remember cruising the mall and local stores in search for a job that would inevitably pay minimum wage, as many jobs do at that age. Yes, at 16 years old, Bugha is now a millionaire. He become one after winning the Solo event on the third and final day of the Fortnite World Cup, scoring 59 points to take a big lead over the next closest competitor. His $3 million payday ranks as the largest ever for a single player tournament in the esports category. "Words can't really explain. I'm so happy. Everything... Read more...

Bethesda was at E3 2019, and during its showcase, it offered up a pair of trailers that show all the gaming goodness coming to Fallout 76 this year. Gamers have been very critical of Fallout 76 since it launched with many fans of the franchise seeing aspects of the game as nothing more than a money grab by Bethesda. Wattson's tactical ability is Perimeter Security, her... Read more...
Fortnite is one of the biggest games in the world with massive Hollywood movie crossover events and special edition Xbox consoles to underscore its popularity. The game also has a dark underbelly with over 1,000 cheaters banned during the Fortnite World Cup alone. Furthering that drama, Fortnite also has one of its top streamers fighting a very public battle against his team over an allegedly oppressive contract. The world of eSports is likened to the "Wild West" by many, as there are no rules and regulations covering players and teams. Some compare the current environment between players and teams to the way Baseball was before players unionized. Many are waiting to see what happened between... Read more...
The mobile version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUGB) sees over 70 million average daily users in China, but even so, Tencent Holdings is yanking the game and replacing it with a more government friendly alternative called Game for Peace. Analysts believe it could generate over $1 billion annually through in-game purchases. Tencent announced the launch of Game for Peace on Weibo, where a Google translation pegs the name as Peace Elite. Whatever you want to call it, the game is not PUBG. This is a big deal for Tencent. PUBG Mobile is a big time money maker for the developer, with users having forked over more than $320 million, based on data from Sensor Tower. Nevertheless, its removal from... Read more...
Epic Games is continuously working on new gameplay mechanics and features for the popular battle royale game Fortnite. Most recently it announced a crossover event with Avengers: End Game that saw Thanos come to the game for players to fight. Epic also launched a new patch this month bringing the game to version 8.30 and adding in reboot vans and a high explosive LTM. Typically Fortnite fans love the updates that launch, but many didn't like the 8.20 update that removed a popular game mechanic called siphoning.
