Qualcomm today announced that it will hold its 2019 Snapdragon Tech Summit on December 3rd in Maui, Hawaii. All eyes will be on Qualcomm mobile aspirations during this conference, as the company is widely expected to launch its upcoming Snapdragon 865, which is the successor to the Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 855+. If you recall, at least year's conference, Qualcomm announced the original Snapdragon 855, the Snapdragon 8cx, and the Snapdragon X50 5G modem.  It's reported that the Snapdragon 865 will be manufactured on Samsung's 7nm EUV process, which should provide some nice efficiency gains over the current Snapdragon 855 family. If you own an Android phone, there is a high chance it is rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of some kind inside. Sometime in the not-too-distant future, Qualcomm will unleash a new flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 865, yet there is already talk of what comes after. That would be the Snapdragon 875, assuming Qualcomm sticks to its conventional naming scheme. 2019 is the year of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (and soon, the Snapdragon 855 Plus) with respect to Android smartphones. But the tech industry doesn't stand still, which means that a new SoC is on the way to replace the Snapdragon 855 family. If Qualcomm's naming scheme stays intact, that means that we will see the release of the Snapdragon 865 later this year. Right now the chipset that reins sumpreme in the high-end flagship smartphone performance department is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC. Despite that chip still being quite new, there are already rumors of a next-gen chip coming that will bring even more performance to the table of course, as well as additional Qualcomm-powered 5G capabilities.
