Behold the MEGA-one video game controller mod. This thing is designed specifically to make your games more immersive by delivering heftier vibration feedback than your PS4 or Xbox One controller is capable of. In fact, the MEGA-one vibration motor is 500 times stronger than what's available in a standard DualShock or Xbox One controller. According to the ex-NASA engineer who designed the controller each bullet you fire in a shooter recoils the controller back at you. The vibration is enough to nearly pull the controller out of your hands in a driving game if you get out of control. The giant vibration... Read more...

Whether you are familiar with the original game or not, it's worth checking out. The trailer is primarily focused on Ellie, who is again played by actress and singer Ashley Johnson. It begins innocently enough with Ellie attending... Read more...
This is most definitely the era of the retro console with Nintendo, Atari (the Atari VCS is up for pre-order now) and others in on the retro console action. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is considering stepping into that retro console realm as well with a revival of the PlayStation One console. Word of the possibility of a retro console from Sony comes from a source that should have a very good idea of what's in the pipeline. That source is SIE president Takeshi Kodera. His translated tweet reads, "Our company is always digging up past assets, and I think there are various ways to do it.... Read more...

The Sony PlayStation 4 is getting a little long in the tooth. What was once state of the art (for a gaming console) back in 2013 is now headed towards the end of its current lifecycle. That last statement actually comes directly from Sony PlayStation chief John Kodera. Kodera made the comments during Sony's Corporate Strategy Meeting, which were then translated into English. PS chief Kodera: PS4 is entering final phase of its life cycle, which would have negative impact to the unit, but recurring revenue via membership services etc should cushion some of that.— Takashi Mochizuki (@mochi_wsj)... There have been rumors flying around that Sony might launch the PlayStation 5 in late 2018. If you were hoping that these rumors might add up to an unveil at E3 2018 next month, that seems less likely now. An official statement from Sony talking about what the E3 show will cover has been published and the focus will be on four games rather than hardware. Sony will have its E3 conference a month from now on June 11 at 6:00pm PST. If you aren’t going to be at the show, Sony has said it will broadcast the show live on the PlayStation website, Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook. Sony will be focusing... Read more...
Red Dead Redemption 2 has nearly passed into lore and has been accused of being vaporware by more than a few gamers over the years. The game was originally talked up with the first trailer back in October of 2016 with the promise of a 2017 launch. That 2017 launch never happened, but we did get the second trailer for the game in September of 2017. Rockstar also issued an apology in 2017 for delaying the game again, saying at the time, "We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring... Read more...
Sony this week gave up some details on its gaming business while presenting its financial results for the recently completed quarter. The highlight of the announcement was that Sony shipped 19 million PS4 consoles for fiscal 2017. That is about a million its less than it shipped in fiscal 2016, but it was enough to push the total number of PS4 consoles sold to 79 million units. Compare that to shipments of the previous generation PS3 pegged -- which logged around 80 million units total -- and Sony has hit a home run with its latest console. The PS4 isn't going to retire anytime soon, meaning it... Read more...
The new God of War video game launched recently and so far, the reviews have been very good and fans have been receptive as well. One thing about the game that has annoyed many users is the size of the text that the devs opted to use in areas like Lore. It's nigh impossible to read text from across the room on high-resolution TVs say many users. If you have had this problem with tiny text in the game, patch 1.12 is supposed to fix the problem and went live over the weekend. The catch is that the increase in text size with the patch is not particularly noticeable. Even with the new slider for text... Read more...
For almost as long as video games have been around, players have wanted the ability to play against each other no matter what platform they are on. Xbox players want to fight PC gamers and PS4 gamers and vice versa. The catch is that Sony isn’t into cross-platform action. Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan, who is also the VP of Blizzard Entertainment, has let slip that Overwatch players might gain the ability to share progress between game consoles and PCs. Kaplan said in an interview recently that his team has "frequent and ongoing discussions about" adding that feature. Kaplan also noted... Read more...
One of the barriers to VR gaming is the cost of entry. It's generally been cheaper to dive into VR on the console side of things versus buying an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive for use with a PC, but it is still not a cheap endeavor. In an effort to bring more people into the fold, and as a natural progression of niche market seeing some maturation, Sony is the slashing the starting price of its PlayStation VR bundles to $299.99 in the United States and Europe. "This new pricing provides an even greater value for PlayStation fans at a perfect time, with must-play PS VR titles like Moss and Sprint Vector.... Read more...
One of the things that I have never understood are the folks who like to flip to the last page in a book and see how it ends before they read the book. I've also never understood people that want to beat a game as fast as possible. If you are a gaming fan and plan to pick up the game Far Cry 5 when it launches next week, there is a way to beat the game before it even gets started. This secret ending is super easy to enable as well; you simply have to “not” do something. That something you don’t do is place the handcuffs on the main baddy of the game, Jacob Seed. In the first... Read more...
As we reported yesterday, Fortnite cross-play is gaining a pretty large audience. Not only will Fortnite eventually have cross platform support for PC, Mac and Xbox One, but also on mobile platforms (iOS and Android). The lone hold, of course, is Sony with its popular PlayStation 4 console. Gamers would no doubt love to broaden the crop of available players to compete against by bringing the PS4 into the mix, but Sony has been reticent to such endeavors in the past. Microsoft has even reached out to Microsoft not only on Fortnite, but other cross-platform titles to no avail. “Microsoft has... Read more...
