Earlier today, we brought you info on Kohl's upcoming Black Friday deals, and now it's Target's turn. The retail giant has posted its Black Friday ad and there are plenty of deals to be had on tech that is sure to be in high demand this holiday shopping season. One of the biggest deals -- and unfortunately will be an in-store only deal -- is on an Element 55-inch Smart 4K TV. The big-screen television normally retails for $379, but will be on sale for a low $199. Element is typically known for lingering in the lower-tier of budget televisions, but at $200 it'd be hard to pass up on this TV... Read more...
Sony sold more PlayStation 4 (PS4) hardware and software than it was anticipating during the company's fiscal second quarter ended September 30, 2018, and those additional sales helped catapult the Japanese electronic maker's three-month profit to just over $2.1 billion. This also prompted Sony to raise its full year forecast to $7.7 billion, up a whopping 30 percent for what it was forecasting in July. The PlayStation division, or "Games & Network Services (G&NS)" if we're being formal, led the way with nearly $5 billion in revenue, generating a profit of more than $800 million. Even more... Users with too much time on their hands recently discovered a bug in the PlayStation 4 that could be exploited to crash the console. It was easy as sending a specific and malicious message to the unsuspecting PS4 user. After receiving widespread attention, Sony has gone and fixed the bug so all is apparently good in the world of PS4 gaming again. The exploit is similar to the types of text messaging bugs that have sometimes rocked mobile platforms, essentially tripping the device up. On mobile devices, it could be anything from generally unstable behavior, like freezing, or a full crash. The latter... Read more...

Gamers have a lot to look forward to as 2018 winds down, and one of the most anticipated games on the docket is Red Dead Redemption 2. This is a game that fans of the franchise have waited years to play, and the launch is almost here. A new rumor about the game is making the rounds today that tips a feature you won’t see unless you ditch the mini-map guiding you around the world. Word is that when you turn off the mini-map, the dialog that NPCs dole out will change. With the map disabled, the NPCs will give you directions to help you navigate around the world. That dialog is said to... Read more...
One of the most anticipated games of the year is Red Dead Redemption 2; the game is set to launch on October 26, which is only a few weeks away. There are plenty of exciting games coming this fall, and one of the titles that gamers are looking forward to is the Rockstar-produced, western-themed game Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). Last month a brand-new gameplay trailer turned up for Red Dead getting the masses excited for its launch. A tidbit about RDR2 has surfaced that isn't good news; if you have lots of content on your console and storage space is at a premium this may be a huge problem. RDR2 will be the biggest game in terms of sheer storage space needed that has ever landed on the PS4. An image of the back of the PS4 Pro RDR2 bundle... Read more...

It's finally happening. Sony, a company that is not known to back down from attacks on its arcane cross-play policies, has caved to pressure and will enable PlayStation 4 gamers to play against rival consoles with Fortnite. Sony has taken flak from gamers and industry figures (including Microsoft execs). Fortnite is the most popular game in the world, and the fact that Sony has been the lone holdout has angered many gamers. What was even more infuriating is the fact that progression and items/skins bought/accumulated on the PlayStation 4 could not be transferred to the Xbox One and Nintendo... Read more...
Sony has not exactly been a champion of supporting multiplayer gameplay across different platforms, otherwise known as crossplay. If there was a time and place to reverse course, it would be now, in Fortnite, the world's most popular battle royale shooter. Sony is sticking to its guns, however, drawing ire from not just gamers, but also Microsoft. Fortnite is a veritable cash cow for developer Epic Games, and part of the game's success is its availability on so many different platforms—PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. And for the most part, players on one platform can... Read more...
It seems ridiculous that in this day and age of video gaming, cross-play support isn't a standard feature across the board. Things have improved, sure, but there is still a long way to go. One of the holdouts is Sony, and if you were hoping the company would change its mind in the wake of increased pressure, you're going to be disappointed. Cross-play just isn't something Sony feels compelled to promote at this point. The reason for this is almost definitely financial, though you won't hear Sony say that directly. Instead, Sony's new chief executive officer Kenichiro Yoshida emphasized at IFA 2018... Read more...
Few things annoy console gamers more about cross-platform play than being forced to compete against PC gamers who are using a mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard are sometimes seen as an unfair advantage to console gamers using a gamepad or other type of controller. PS4 gamers who are using a mouse and keyboard are considered to have an advantage over PS4 gamers using a DualShock controller, for instance. Xbox gamers don’t have to worry about that since there isn’t official mouse and keyboard support for the Xbox One. Regardless, Epic Games wants to keep things fair... Read more...
