If you're in the market for a new tablet, Best Buy is running some rather remarkable deals on consumer and professional tablets from Apple. Both the standard 9.7-inch iPad and the 11-inch iPad Pro are available with a steep discount with free shipping or free in-store pickup. First up is the 9.7-inch iPad, which normally rings in at $329 for the 32GB model. However, Best Buy is currently selling the upgraded 128GB iPad for an even lower price of $299 (available in Silver, Space Gray or Gold). The regular price for the 256GB SKU is $429, so this represents a $130 discount. Amazon is currently selling the 32GB iPad for $249, but this deal from Best Buy is a far better deal in our opinion --... Read more...
When it comes to Apple's 2019 iPhone family, we know quite a bit about the smartphones already, especially with respect to their designs. From the front, the smartphones are expected to look nearly identical to their 2018 counterparts, but out back, they're expected to add an additional camera inside a square housing. According to the latest rumors coming from the Japanese blog Mac Otakara, Apple will be using the same -- or at least visually similar -- square camera pod on the 2019 iPad Pro family. Even more dramatically, it's said that the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models will now have three cameras, putting them on par with the 2019 iPhone Pro. This is a big upgrade considering... After weeks of leaks, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S6 professional tablet has finally been officially unveiled to the world. If you've been following our coverage on the leaks, you're probably already familiar with the looks of the Galaxy Tab S6, but Samsung today is confirming many of the specs and features that were previously rumored. The most dominant feature of the Galaxy Tab S6 is of course its large 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display (2560x1600 resolution). The bezels are relatively narrow around the display, giving it a similar appearance to the most recent iPad Pro models from Apple. However, whereas the iPad Pro manages slim bezels by ditching the old and tired home button for Face... Read more...
Apple hasn't exactly had smooth sailing with its high-end and ultra-expensive iPad Pro. The tablet was criticized in what has been called "bendgate" because it is prone to bending under minimal pressure. A bizarre problem has now been confirmed by Apple, and if you own the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil, this issue might have never crossed your mind as being caused by the devices. Apple has warned in an updated Apple Pencil support document that some users have seen interference when charging the second-gen Apple Pencil with an iPad Pro, which is preventing some vehicles' keyless entry fobs from unlocking the door. The issue arose for some when walking to their car and carrying the iPad Pro while... Read more...
Spring is in the air, which means that we’re starting to hear more about the next version of iOS that powers iPhones and iPads. Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is scheduled to kick off on June 3rd, but a new report is already shedding some light on what we can except in iOS 13. The first addition is something that has been requested from Apple fans for a long time: a true systemwide dark mode. Apple has already introduced dark mode with macOS, so it’s only natural that the company would want to extend this feature to iOS. According to 9to5Mac, the feature won’t be enabled by default, and will instead be accessible via the Settings menu. A... Read more...
A growing chorus of iPad Pro owners are complaining of screen stuttering and other display issues, including loss of touch functionality and stuck buttons on the onscreen keyboard. In some cases, simply wiping down the display with a microfiber cloth can help, though the problem does not appear to be a dirty display for everyone who is having issues. "Hello all, after the last two updates my iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd gen has issues with not responsive screen often. I need to exit the application or click the home button multiple times or lock the screen and all goes well after. Did a factory reset but nothing helped. Anyone else with the same issue? I hope it is software," a user complained on MacRumors'... Read more...
Apple has had a rough couple of months following the release of it's 2018 iPad Pro after it was discovered that the device bends easily under minimal pressure. Apple attempted to explain away any appearances of bending with the iPad Pro by claiming that it's normal for the iPad Pro to be bent from the factory. Apple's Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Dan Riccio, also attempted to sweep the problem under the proverbial rug by claiming that the iPad Pro meets or exceeds all of the company's high quality standards. These efforts by Apple have done little to quell the discontent of the company's customers, however, and Apple today released additional information about the iPad Pro's design... Read more...
When the 2018 family of iPad Pros were released in October, Apple championed their all-new design which was thinner and lighter than previous generations. The company also touted new features like USB-C connectivity, blazing fast A12X processors and the first implementation of Face ID on an iPad. However, it’s the thinness of the device that brought some unwanted attention to the iPad Pro soon after release. JerryRigEverything made a big splash last month with a YouTube video that showed the iPad Pro bending with what appeared to be a minimal amount of force. Since that time, some iPad Pro owners have reported that their tablets have come with bent frames straight out... Read more...
Back in November, we talked a bit about a video test that showed just how easily the 2018 iPad Pro could bend, rendering your fancy tablet useless junk. Reports have been surfacing online that the 2018 iPad Pro is coming out of the box with a slight bend in the frame for some users. Apple has now stepped up and acknowledged that some of the expensive tablets (stating at $799) are bent out of the box, but says that bend is a normal part of the manufacturing process. (Image Source: Mac Rumors) The Verge writes, "According to the company, this is a side effect of the device’s manufacturing process and shouldn’t worsen over time or negatively affect the flagship iPad’s performance... If you weren't able to partake in any Black Friday shopping this year and thought you might have missed the best deals on iPads, you have another chance to score some savings. B&H Photo has a smoking deal going right now on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro from mid-2017. That means this isn't the brand new iPad Pro with the crazy thin bezels that Apple announced in October, but it might be more than enough for most folks out there. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro with 256GB of storage, Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE integrated in gold, silver or space gray is available with a $330 discount. That makes the tablet $749 rather than the normal $1,079 price. That also means you can get the LTE-packing 12.9-inch iPad Pro for... Read more...
Apple gadget fans will be cringing at JerryRigEverything's latest video, where he takes a brand new 11" iPad Pro out of the box and proceed to destroy it. The video also shows the destruction of an Apple Pencil. The bending test video starts with the Apple Pencil that breaks with a surprising amount of ease; only slightly more than the force it takes to break a normal wooden pencil was needed to break the Apple Pencil. Beware placing an Apple Pencil in your pocket as it might not survive but that was just the beginning of the mayhem. To make matters worse, the battery inside the Apple Pencil isn't one of the lithium-ion types that are solid and flexible. The battery in the wirelessly charging... Read more...
Apple recently refreshed its iPad Pro line with faster hardware and new features, and while many things are different, one thing remains the same—they are difficult to crack open and repair, should the need arise. That's par for course these days and not endemic to Apple, of course. The latest generation iPad Pro is just another example of how DIY repairs are not really feasible for the average consumer, as indicated by a teardown of the tablet. As they often do, the folks at iFixit got their hands on the new gadget and promptly stripped it naked, taking apart the tablet until the premium designed device was reduced to a pile of parts on a table. And as usual, they encountered plenty of... Read more...
You do not need to wait until Black Friday to snag a sweet tech deal. A number of devices are on sale during the Sam’s Club Super November Event. You will even be able to nab some devices for $500 USD off of their regular price. This may be a good time to purchase a smart TV. The Samsung 82" Class 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV with HDR is currently available for $500 off its original price of $2,479.00. You can grab the Vizio 80" Class XLED 4K Home Theater Display and Vizio 36" 5.1.2 Home Theater Sound System with Dolby Atmos for $1,999. This is a particularly good deal because just the television alone will run you nearly $2,300 from other retailers. A number of less expensive smart TVs like... Read more...
One of the big upgrades to the newest iPad Pro is the custom A12X Bionic chip inside, complete with a neural engine. This burly processor is at the heart of Apple's claim that the iPad Pro is "more powerful than most computers." But is it really? We'll say this—it's fast, based on a leaked benchmark run of the A12X Bionic at Geekbench. It needs to be fast in order for Apple to justify its marketing strategy for the iPad Pro. It's still a tablet, but from Apple's vantage point, it can keep up with (and surpass) a traditional PC, while offering the type of portability that's inherent in a tablet form factor. "iPad Pro features the A12X Bionic chip with a Neural Engine. Which transforms how... Read more...
