Ever since playing Joust on his family's Atari 800XL 8-bit computer as a youth, Zak has been hooked on PC and console games. His passion for gaming as a kid led to an interest in PCs as a teenager, which ended up with him founding his own PC repair shop in the year 2000. Decades later, he's still building, still gaming, and still arguing on the internet with any opinion anyone has. A former writer of news and reviews for The Tech Report, Zak is a modern-day Renaissance man who may not be an expert on anything, but knows just a little about nearly everything.

Back when the Radeon RX 6500 XT came out to fanfare reminiscent of a Monty Python film's wheezing trumpets, AMD also noted that it had an even less capable card, the RX 6400, on its way to OEMs. The processor used for both cards, the... Read more...

Let's talk about neuromorphic computing. Whereas traditional computers have processors and memory as discrete components, neuromorphic computing attempts to emulate the brain in that each functional element—each synapse—is both processor... Read more...

First, a bit of context. It has been rumored for some time that NVIDIA's next-generation graphics cards for gamers after Ampere, known as Ada Lovelace, will be ludicrously power-hungry—to the tune of some 600 Watts. As an aside, AMD's RDNA... Read more...

Mobile GPUs are cool and all, but everyone wants to see the high-end halo product. A GPU that can run games in 1080p without drawing a lot of power is probably a lot more practical than a high-end processor that can pump out a hundred 4K... Read more...
