Google recently launched its Pixel 5a mid-range 5G smartphone a few weeks ago, but the company isn't done yet. It still has to release the flagship Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, the flag bearers for the upcoming Android 12 operating system. Although Google previously showed us slick renders of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, it has posted a quick teaser video showing some brief glimpses of the phones being used in the real world. The fast-paced video is looking to appeal to young adults constantly on the move, as it asks, "What if your phone saw you for who you are?" It goes on to say that the Pixel 6 is constantly "learning, evolving and adapting" to your needs. We should also mention that Google's... Read more...
For those that were expecting to get your hands on Google's next-generation Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones soon, we have some bad news for you. If the latest reporting from Jon Prosser is accurate, the new flagship smartphones won't launch until October 28th. To put that date in perspective, the Pixel 5 launched on October 15th, 2020, and the Pixel 4 launched on October 24th, 2019. So, the late October launch isn't unprecedented, but it is a bit disappointing given that Google already showed its hand with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on August 2nd. Prosser's reporting also shoots down the previously rumored September 13th launch, which would have seen the new Pixel debut a day before Apple's... Read more...
Google has a penchant for discontinuing its flagship Pixel smartphones long before its immediate successor is launched and established in the marketplace. Last year, the company discontinued the Pixel 4 nearly two months before the Pixel 5 was announced. Now, Google has announced that the Pixel 5 is being terminated prior to the Pixel 6 family's release this fall. A quick visit to the official Google Store shows that the Pixel 5 is currently out of stock. Unfortunately, the same is also true for the Pixel 4a 5G. However, we can understand the lack of inventory for the latter phone, as its replacement, the Pixel 5a 5G, has already been announced and is available for preorder. "With our current... Read more...
Google yesterday made a surprise announcement of its upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones. In a market where most smartphones are all starting to look alike, Google's new Pixel 6 family charts a different design course -- at least from the back -- with its wide camera pod and two-tone finishes. However, that fresh design and the advanced hardware lurking underneath won't come cheap. On two separate occasions, Google confirmed that the Pixel 6 smartphones would carry premium pricing, making them far more expensive than the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. "We've definitively not been in the flagship tier for the past couple years, this will be different," said Google hardware chief Rick Osterloh... Read more...
Google today announced its Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones, which are the latest flagship Android devices to come from the search giant. Interestingly enough, the leaked renders that have flooded the internet over the past few months were incredibly accurate, as what you see in this article is matches up precisely with what was previously presented. The design of the Pixel 6 family is a break from traditional smartphone design, with a black horizontal band going across the upper back of the smartphone that houses the cameras. The black bar bisects a two-tone colored finish on the back, which is a nice break from the monotony that has encompassed smartphone design in recent years. Google's... Read more...
By now, we think we have a pretty good idea of what the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will look like at launch. Several rumors have coalesced around a unique design with a multi-colored back, large camera bump, and premium materials. Now, gadget leaker Jon Prosser alleges to have a bigger scoop on the specifications for the two smartphones. According to the report, the Pixel 6 will feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, with an 8MP selfie camera nestled within a hole-punch cutout. Out back, expect to see a 50MP wide-angle primary sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. In addition, Google is reportedly using its first custom SoC, condemned Whitechapel, for the smartphone paired with 8GB of RAM and... Read more...
Google's upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Android flagships are still months away from launching, but leaked information on both devices is coming in at a furious pace. Over the past few weeks, we've seen convincing renders of the devices, alleged specs, and reports on possible features. Today, however, we're learning about a new feature that could shortly be on the way for all currently-supposed members of the Pixel family. The folks over at XDA-Developers tore down the latest version of the Pixel Tips app from the Google Play Store. After performing some code sleuthing, a new "CameraAstrotimelapseSettingController" class was discovered within the app. Google Pixel's current astrophotography... Read more...
We always look forward to Google's newest flagship smartphones, which come along every fall like clockwork. Last year's Pixel 5 was a bit disappointing on the performance front given that it went with a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, but this year's Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are expected to land squarely in flagship territory. New rumors are shedding light on the Pixel 6/Pixel 6 Pro and how they will advance the smartphone sector once released. @FronTron published the information, alleging that the Pixel 6 smartphone will support what's being billed as a "gimbal-like steady cam mode." The leaker doesn't go into any further detail on how the feature will work. We can only assume that it... Read more...
Google Pixel 6 rumors have been heating up during the past week, seemingly confirming the final design of both the Pixel 6 and its larger Pixel 6 Pro counterpart. While the appearance of the smartphones seems to be locked in, we still haven't learned much about what kind of hardware will be featured inside the devices. Thankfully, new rumors making the rounds this weekend give us some insight into what kind of specs the Pixel 6 family will have. The information comes to us via Max Weinbach, who is a well-known leaker when it comes to unreleased tech gadgets. According to Weinbach, both smartphones will be powered by Google's custom Whitechapel mobile platform processors, which means abandoning... Read more...
A week ago, we got our first look at the upcoming Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro courtesy of renders commissioned by Jon Prosser. The Pixel family of smartphones has never been thoughts of as "fashion-forward," but the new Pixel 6 lineup looks to have a design flair that wasn't present in previous generations. Today, we're getting further confirmation of the new design direction. New renders presented by OnLeaks seemingly back up Prosser's sourcing and fills in a bit more detail at the same time. The Pixel 6 Pro will allegedly have a 6.67-inch display, the largest ever to grace a Pixel smartphone. For better or worse, it's said that the display will curve along the edges, which some users don't... Read more...
When Google launched the Pixel 5 last year as its "flagship" Android smartphone, it was a bit disappointing on the specs front. After all, the smartphone debuted with a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC instead of the Snapdragon 865/865+ found in the competition. It also lacked features that many expect in flagships, like an in-display fingerprint reader and copious amounts of RAM. However, Google is reportedly looking to make a splash with its next-generation flagship Pixel smartphone. According to a new report, there will be a Pixel 6 and a larger Pixel 6 Pro. There isn't anything radical here from the front as we see a large display with tiny bezels all-around along with a center-mounted... Read more...
