The recent COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged many people to find alternate ways to engage with others and entertain themselves. One particular video game has proven to be a perfect platform during this strange time. Surprisingly, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has not only been a smashing success in traditional game title fashion, but it also has provided a myriad of opportunities for social activities, from dating, to sex workers, a horror movie trailer, and even a talk show. Restaurants and other traditional dating venues are currently closed or severely limited in most countries. This can make it rather difficult for potential lovebirds to go on a date. However, Animal Crossing allows... Read more...

Bu that hasn't stopped some gamers from turning it into a horror video game. It appears to have taken significant time and effort to create complete with dramatic lighting changes, skeletons, ghosts, ax murderers, and other creepy... Read more...
There’s no doubt that the Nintendo Switch has been a breakout hit for the Japanese gaming giant, more than making up for the epic flop that was the Wii U. The portable/hybrid console has delivered some great games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Mario Odyssey and more; this despite the relatively meager hardware under the hood. The current Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite are powered by a refreshed version of the NVIDIA Tegra X1 SoC – hardware that first debuted back in 2015. However, the next-generation Switch might leave NVIDIA behind in favor of a hybrid SoC courtesy of Samsung and AMD. It would also give AMD a clean sweep in getting... Read more...

Of all the video game characters in the world, one of the most iconic is no doubt Nintendo's Mario. In recent years, Nintendo has begun to bring its iconic characters to mobile platforms such as Android and iOS, but the games haven't yet been offered on PC or game consoles outside the Nintendo realm. However, a fan-made port brings Super Mario 64 to the PC in a new and exciting way. The Mario 64 PC port circulated for the first over the weekend, and was made possible by a project from last year where fans reversed engineered the game's source code. The most notable feature of this project is that it's not a PC emulator designed to be a virtual copy of the original Nintendo 64 hardware. Instead,... Read more...

Hackers recently targeted Nintendo Switch owners, leading to the recommendation that users enable two-factor authentication (2FA), which is generally solid advice anyway. In the aftermath of the hacking campaign, Nintendo is no longer allowing Switch owners to log into their Nintendo accounts through a Nintendo Network ID (NNID). Nintendo also confirmed how many accounts were compromised. According to Nintendo, around 160,000 accounts were hacked. On those accounts, hackers were able to see nicknames, genders, dates of birth, country/region information, and email addresses. Nintendo also acknowledged that hackers may have illegally made purchases on affected accounts using existing balances,... Read more...

During this devastating COVID-19 pandemic, Nintendo Switch game consoles have been incredibly difficult to find, and prices in the reseller market have climbed as a result. That could change soon with Nintendo suppliers announcing that the Japanese gaming giant intends to increase the output of Switch game consoles in response to the increased demand from consumers stuck at home. Nintendo intends to produce about 10 percent more Switch consoles this year compared to the 20 million units it produced last year. Word of the increase in production comes from parts suppliers that are aware of Nintendo's plans. Reports indicate that Nintendo has asked multiple suppliers and contract assemblers to prepare... It looks as a large number of Nintendo Switch users are under attack. And no, we're talking about verbal barbs from gamers asserting PC dominance, but from hackers trying to infiltrate Nintendo accounts.  The primary target for the hackers appears to be saved credit card details attached to these accounts, which they then use to make actual game purchases or in-game purchases. Compromised accounts have had payment details stolen with both saved credit cards and linked PayPal accounts. The hackers have been particularly interested in using the ill-gotten funds to purchase VBucks in-game currency for the ever-popular battle royale game Fortnite. The problem has been growing in the... Read more...
Museums around the world are currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this does not mean that you are entirely cut off from world-class art. The Getty Museum recently created a tool that allows you to add art from their open-access collection to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The J. Paul Getty Museum’s collection includes over 70,000 pieces of artwork that range from pottery from ancient Greece to paintings by Rembrandt and Van Gogh. Animal Crossing players can now access this amazing collection through the Getty’s Animal Crossing Art Generator. The art can then be added to the player’s shirt, wallpaper, or island flag. With the coronavirus lockdown in full effect all around the country, some items are very hard to find. Scare items include household cleaners, toilet paper, and apparently the Nintendo Switch. When one Switch fan was unable to find a console in stock that wasn't at a massively marked up price, rather than do without a console, he decided to build one from spare parts. We will admit right up front there are some mysteries about this build. Namely, it's not clear how the builder identified every single part number needed to build a complete and working Nintendo Switch. The builder listed all of the parts that were purchased for the project, along with their prices. However, there are no part numbers... Read more...

The Nintendo Switch is a gaming system that is designed to be taken with you on-the-go, which means that it is likely to be used in areas that aren't exactly clean (which is even more of a concern now more than ever, due to the coronavirus pandemic). The catch is that while it's easy enough to wash your hands with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers, it's not often as easy to sanitize your electronics. With this in mind, some people have been using alcohol-based cleaners on the Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo of Japan is now advising against such practices. Nintendo says that cleaning the Switch with alcohol may cause the plastic parts to fade in color or deform. And for anyone... Read more...

The player can decorate their island and invite others to visit. It's a simple premise, and one that has been resonating with gamers. So, what's the problem in China? Hong Kong activist...
