After winning an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for his film "Jojo Rabbit," Taika Waititi threw some comedic shade at Apple's laptop keyboards, saying "they are impossible to write on" and makes him want to go back to using PCs. Incidentally, the film director, writer, and actor was not referring to the troubled history of Apple's keyboards. "Apple needs to fix those keyboards, "They are impossible to write on—they’ve gotten worse. It makes me want to go back to PCs. Because PC keyboards, the bounce-back for your fingers is way better. Hands up who still uses a PC? You know what I’m talking about. It’s a way better keyboard. Those Apple keyboards are horrendous," Waititi... Read more...
Logitech today announced a new, ergonomically designed keyboard called the Ergo K860. As seen in the image above, it sports a split design to facilitate a more natural typing experience by angling the left and right main typing sections . The idea behind these types of designs is that users do not have to twist their wrists, as is required when typing on a traditional keyboard. "We know that most people spend between a quarter and a third of their lives at work, so it is important they stay comfortable while they’re at it. We created a science-driven ergonomic keyboard to help office workers improve their posture, increase comfort and lower muscle strain," said Lars Holm Lauridsen, senior... Read more...
Corsair's line-ups of K70 and Strafe mechanical gaming keyboards have been on the market now for quite some time. The Strafe is a more streamlined speedster for performance freaks and the K70 a more full-featured deck with ultra-premium build quality. We recently looked at Corsair's K70 Lux RGB in a 5-way round-up and the board walked away with our Editor's Choice award. Today, fresh off its Computex 2018 unveil, Corsair returns to our lab with buffed-up and decked-out versions of the K70 and Strafe, both sporting some disco RGB goodness, but now in their MK.2 (pronounced Mark 2) incarnations, with new features, the same killer build quality, and a bit more bling. Corsair set the bar with the... Read more...
Many PC users are quite particular about their keyboards. It's how we communicate with the world and get things done, and a crappy keyboard can be a deal-breaker for many people. Apple has often been considered to produce some of the best keyboards in the business, but that changed with the arrival of the 2015 MacBook with its butterfly key mechanism. People quickly complained about the shallow key travel which made it feel like they were typing on a barely-moving rigid surface. To make matters worse, the short key travel meant that tiny specs of dust or crumbs were enough to make keys stop functioning completely. Apple upset an even larger portion of its customer base when it brought that butterfly... Read more...
EVGA is best known for its graphics cards, and for good reason. EVGA is the number one NVIDIA authorized board partner in the U.S. and they have been for a long time. Like many brands in the PC enthusiast space, however, EVGA has started to branch out beyond just graphics cards and today they have a wide range of items in their product stack, ranging from motherboards and notebooks to peripherals and power supplies. Despite being in the peripherals game for a relatively short while, however, EVGA already has five gaming mice in the market, and it just introduced its first mechanical keyboard, the Z10. Like most products released by EVGA, the Z10 is designed with enthusiasts in mind. To accommodate... Read more...
Participants of the Xbox Insider program were recently treated to a Minecraft beta that added mouse and keyboard support to the mix. If you have been wondering when Microsoft will roll out official support for keyboards and mice to the Xbox One community at large, Microsoft still does not have a specific date to share, though Xbox Platform CVP Mike Ybarra did promise that it is coming soon. "Keyboard and mouse support is definitely coming. We have to be very smart in how we do that. We'll leave it a lot up to developer choice. A lot of people tweet me and say 'you can't do this because of fairness,' and we understand that. We run two platforms; the Xbox platform, and the Windows platform," Ybarra... Read more...
Companies can be a little overzealous when it comes to serving up ads. Even so, HTC appeared to hit a new low when its TouchPal keyboard that comes pre-installed on some Android devices started pushing out ads to users. This did not sit well with affected users, many of which took to posting their grievance on Reddit. Doing so attracted a lot of negative attention. It also resulted in an apology from HTC, which chalked the ads up to some kind of "error.""Due to an error, some HTC customers have reported seeing ads on their phone's keyboard. This is absolutely not the experience we intended, and we're working to immediately fix the error and remove the ads as quickly as possible," HTC said in... Read more...

Roccat added yet another gaming keyboard to its fleshed out lineup, the Isku+ Force FX, which is a membrane plank that eschews mechanical key switches for a less expensive price tag. In place of mechanical key switches, the Force FX in the model name refers to pressure sensitive technology that Roccat infused the all-important WASD keys with, along with the Q and E keys that are commonly used by PC gamers. "With our patented Force FX technology, we re-imagined keyboard input to provide a whole new level of control. By employing a special chemical layer which modifies electrical conductivity beneath the QWEASD keyzone, our engineers have found a way to allow pressure-sensitive input on a rubber-dome... The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency slapped Logitech with a fine worth more than a quarter of a million dollars for claims the peripheral maker made about its cordless desktop MX3200 laser mouse and keyboard combo. Those peripherals are now defunct, but when they were being sold, Logitech touted their ability to protect users from nasty bacteria and microbes. That would have been fine and dandy, had Logitech tested its claims and then registered with the EPA. "Unverified public health claims can lead people to believe they are protected from disease-causing organisms when, in fact, they are not," said Jared Blumenfeld, EPA’s Regional Administrator for the Pacific Southwest. "The EPA... Read more...
