This year's virtual CES 2021 is wrapping up today, but before we close out our coverage, we wanted to take you on a tour of a couple of rather innovative products from Dell. The Dell OptiPlex 7090 Ultra is a compact, modular PC that actually resides inside the monitor stand of this bodacious and gorgeous Dell UltraSharp 40, 40-inch monitor. And then there's the Dell Latitude 4920 2-in-1 laptop that has a few tricks up its sleeve as well. We got some in-studio hands-on time with these new Dell products that will launch either this month or soon in the Spring of 2021, so strap-in and let's take a gander.   First, an honorable mention for the Dell UltraSharp 40 is in order. This big, beautiful... Read more...
This year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was a different sort of animal than all previous ones, as the Coronavirus pandemic took away the feasibility of big crowds congregating in Las Vegas. In light of the situation, CES went completely virtual this year. What did not change, however, was the excitement and barrage of product releases and announcements that have become a staple of the annual tech event. This year did not disappoint in that regard. And as in previous years, there were some standouts among the bunch. What exactly stood out the most? Quite a few products, actually, which we have taken the liberty of highlighting. From next-gen laptops sporting brand new CPU and GPU hardware,... Read more...
Ever since AMD introduced its Ryzen 3000 Zen 2 desktop processors and X570 platform in 2019, we’ve been seeing a steady stream of PCIe 4.0-based SSDs flood the market. The first PCIe 4.0 SSDs featured sequential read speeds that topped 5GB/sec, which far outpaced the fastest PCIe 3.0 SSDs available at the time. Over the past few months, second-generation PCIe 4.0 SSDs have entered the market which have cranked read and write speed even further. The latest to enter the fray is Gigabyte with its new Aorus Gen4 7000s SSDs. As you might have presumed from the model number, Gigabyte claims that this SSD can hit sequential read speeds that top 7,000MB/sec. Gigabyte can achieve this... Read more...

Samsung's new Galaxy S21 family of smartphones have been leaking like crazy for the past few months, so at this point, most details have already been made available. However, Samsung this morning made its Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra official, and it has also revealed the full specs and features rundown along with some interesting surprises when it comes to pricing. Yesterday, ASUS announced new laptops in its gaming line of products at CES 2021, which were quite impressive. However, not everyone is into gaming, so something a little less flashy but still performant is good.  Thus, ASUS is unveiling several other laptop lines which bring performance and style to all.  ASUS TUF DASH F15 Even though this sounds like a gaming laptop, it can be used for nearly anything and still fit in.  According to ASUS, the TUF Dash F15 attempts to bring “power, portability, and streamlined style to a wide audience.” It packs up to an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11375H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 in a system that weighs roughly 4.4lbs. Among the many laptops that have been announced this week, MSI is looking to grab some headlines of its own with the new Stealth 15M. The Stealth 15M is a new gaming laptop that looks to impress by packing in an incredible amount of bleeding edge technology into a thin frame. Speaking of the chassis, MSI says that it is just 0.62 inches thick, and weighs in at 3.7 pounds. Despite those rather tidy dimensions for a gaming laptop, MSI was able to stuff in the newly announced Core i7-11375H Special Edition processor. For those that haven't been keeping score, the Core i7-11375H Special Edition is one of Intel's new Tiger Lake-H35 4-core/8-thread processors. It has a base clock of 3.3GHz... Read more...
Qualcomm made waves last month when it announced its new Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform, which will power 2021's best flagship smartphones. However, this week at CES 2021, the company made a more low-key announcement related to biometric authentication. The company says that its 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 is now readily available for customers to incorporate into their smartphone designs. For those not in the know, the company's first-generation 3D Sonic Sensor, which is an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, has been found in all of Samsung's flagships smartphones since it debuted with the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. These in-display fingerprint readers have quickly displaced the front-... Read more...

The company has revealed a couple of new products based around AMD's new Ryzen 5000 processors including the Nitro 5, Aspire 7 and the Aspire 5. The Nitro 5 is perhaps the most interesting of the trio, as it is available in both 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch display sizes. With either display choice, you can opt for a 165Hz QHD panel or a 360Hz Full HD panel. Driving those high refresh rate displays is up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Mobile GPU, which packs quite a punch for laptop gamers (base systems will come with a GeForce RTX 3060). On the processor front, the Nitro 5 can be equipped with... Read more...

These computers have always been on the bleeding-edge of technology, and Dell continues that trend at CES 2021. We get to see a refresh of the Alienware m15, m17, and Alienware Aurora R10, which should pack a punch for gaming and productivity. Alienware m15 R4 and m17 R4 Back in October, we took a look at the Alienware m15 R3 that we found to be a high-performing option when it came to gaming laptops. Now, Dell gives the lineup an update with the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000-series graphics, but it retains 10th gen Intel processors with up to an Intel Core i9-10980HK. Because of... Read more...
NVIDIA has released a bevy of GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards for desktop PCs of the last few months, but gaming notebooks have remained chained to the previous-generation GeForce RTX 20 family. That all changes today, however, as the company just announced new GeForce RTX 30 mobile GPUs based on its latest Ampere GPU architecture. These GPUs should slot into laptops at a variety of price points, so gamers of virtually any budget should find something of interest. Let's dig in... We all knew it was coming, but today, NVIDIA made it official. The company announced the launch of the GeForce RTX 3060, which takes its 8nm Ampere architecture even further down-market. As you might have already guessed, the GeForce RTX 3060 slots in right below the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which launched back in early December. Not surprisingly, the major specs line up with what we've previously reported, and one spec is quite interesting. For starters, NVIDIA is claiming 13 shader TFLOPs performance and 12 RT-FLOPs for the GeForce RTX 3060, which is down from 16.2 TFLOPs and 31.6 RT-TFLOPS for the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.  Where things get interesting is with the amount of memory onboard. Because... Read more...

Today, Lenovo is turning its attention to the ThinkBook family, which has four refreshed members to whet your appetite. ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 The most intriguing member of the family is no doubt the ThinkBook Plus Gen 2, which is based around Intel's Tiger Lake platform (up to a Core i7). Systems come standard with 16GB of LPDDR4x dual-channel memory and you can configure up to a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD for blazing fast sequential read/write speeds. Where things get interesting, however, is with the display(s).... Read more...

After several early teasers, Samsung has officially unveiled its next-generation Exynos 2100 SoC. As we previously reported, Samsung jettisoned its custom, in-house Mongoose cores this time around, and is instead going with the stock Arm designs.  Samsung's custom cores in practice haven't been able to keep up with what Qualcomm has offered year-after-year, so perhaps this move to a more "reference" design will bring performance more in line with what the Snapdragon 888 is currently able to offer.  Given Samsung's design direction, it should come as no surprise that the Exynos 2100 looks quite familiar to the Snapdragon 888 with regards to specs. At the heart of the SoC is... Read more...
In just a few more days—January 14, the last day of this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES)—Samsung will host its Unpacked event, starting at 10:00am Eastern (7:00am Pacific). At this point, we have little doubt the company will unveil its much-anticipated Galaxy S21 series of flagship phones (which might actually be cheaper than their predecessors), and there are reason to be both excited and disappointed. Starting with the former, flagship launches from the likes of Apple and Samsung are typically intriguing. Upgraded cameras, faster processors, new features, and usually a few surprises are common when either company launches a new round of top shelf smartphones. The Galaxy... Read more...
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is now in full swing (albeit virtually), and today is a particular busy one. As for when and where you can watch the keynote, it kicks off today at 11:00 am Eastern (8:00 am Pacific, so grab yourself a cup of coffee or an alternative beverage with caffeine). And you can watch it on AMD's YouTube channel. We've gone ahead and embedded the livestream below, so feel free to stay right here with us as the event unfolds. As for what you can expect, AMD's official... Read more...
