Tomorrow, the OnePlus 9 family of smartphones will launch. The impending arrival of a new generation of smartphones means that prices are starting to drop considerably on the current-generation devices. Such is the case with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, which are available at a hefty discount from Amazon. At the lower end of the spectrum is the OnePlus 8T, which has a list price of $749. However, Amazon is currently selling the smartphone for a low $599.99, a $149 discount off the regular asking price. The price is available on both the Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver edition of the OnePlus 8T. OnePlus 8T Aquamarine Green 12GB/256GB $599.99 @ Amazon OnePlus 8T Lunar Silver... Read more...
If you've been itching to build a new PC around Zen 3, or upgrade an existing one, good news—at least one of AMD's latest generation of Ryzen processors is markedly easier to obtain at the moment. There is still a silicon shortage affecting the general landscape (PC processors and graphics cards, as well as the latest generation game consoles). But the Ryzen 7 5800X appears to have broken through and is now widely available. Will it last? Good question, and only time will tell. Having said that, the Ryzen 7 5800X has sporadically popped up on retail shelves more often than the rest of the Zen 3 stack and other hardware that is in short supply. And as of this writing, it is available to... Read more...
If you're looking for a great, all-around 5G smartphone that will be supported for years in the future, Amazon is currently running a great deal on the Google Pixel 4a 5G. The smartphone was initially launched last fall alongside the more expensive Pixel 5 and is powered by Qualcomm's mid-range Snapdragon 765G SoC. The Pixel 4a 5G launched at $499 but is currently available for just $449 at both Amazon and B&H Photo, representing a $50 discount. Besides the Snapdragon 765G, you'll also receive 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 6.2-inch FHD+ (2340x1080) display. Instead of a massive central notch or thick bezels, the Pixel 4a 5G features a simple hole punch cutout for the 8MP... Read more...
Late last year, Amazon announced its Luna game streaming service to compete with Google Stadia and Microsoft Project xCloud. Previously, it was an invite-only “early access” program, but after months of feedback and improvement, the gaming platform will be available to new customers. Today, Amazon announced that Fire TV customers can download the Luna app and play games with a 7-day free trial to Luna+. After the trial is up, the subscription renews at $5.99/month during the early access period. Customers can also sign up for the $14.99/month Ubisoft+ channel to access both new and old Ubisoft titles on the platform. If you do not have a Fire TV, you can still sign up and request... We would not have expected Amazon of all companies to take to crowdfunding, but here we are. The Seattle-based eCommerce, cloud, and internet of things company, among other divisions, has developed something called the “Build It” program. This program will let the customer weigh in on what products they want to see Amazon make by pre-ordering before production. It is an interesting concept, and the first products are out to vote on now through March 19th. First and foremost, the “Build It” program works by allowing customers to pre-order a product without having to pay. The pre-order is essentially just a spot reservation for a product. If enough people jump on board with... Read more...
Valentine's Day is upon us and if you're a procrastinator like some of us, then it's highly probable that you don't have a gift in hand for your significant other. If your “sweetie” is in to tech gadgets, and if they don't mind waiting until tomorrow or Tuesday to get their gift, Amazon has some deals that might be worth considering. Amazon Hardware Is Discounted By Up To $50 Right Now The fourth-generation Echo was launched in late 2020, and brought with it an all-new spherical shape, a built-in smart home hub, better sound, a digital microphone disconnect, and a low-power mode. The latest Echo is priced at $99, but Amazon is currently running a promotion where if you buy two, you... Read more...
In late 2020, we took a long, hard look at Dell's XPS 13 2-in-1 (9310) convertible. The XPS 13 family -- in both laptop and 2-in-1 configurations -- have long been well-respected in the ultraportable segment, and the latest XPS 13 2-in-1 is no exception. We came away impressed with the machine’s 13.4-inch InfinityEdge display, its aluminum and carbon fiber construction, and its fast and efficient Tiger Lake processor. Today, Amazon is running a pretty sweet deal on the convertible, which knocks off $360 the price of a near-flagship configuration.  The unit currently on sale comes with an 11th generation Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor, a generous 32GB of 4267MHz LPDDR4x... On Monday, we brought you news of some very enticing deals on Samsung's new Galaxy S21 family. Amazon took $100 off the already attractively priced Galaxy S21, which brought its starting price to just $699. Likewise, both the Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra are available for $200 off, taking them to $799 and $999 respectively. However, Amazon is now extending its discount spree to the Galaxy Buds Pro wireless earbuds, which were announced alongside the Galaxy S21 family. The Galaxy Buds Pro typically retail for $199, but when purchased with the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ or Galaxy S21 Ultra, you'll get them for just $100. First, you'll want to add either of these three devices to your... Read more...
Late in January, Amazon updated Alexa to control your home more autonomously if so desired. Continuing in the trend of greater and and more powerful home control, Amazon may be developing a wall-mounted Alexa-based smart home command center to manage all the smart devices you may have. Amazon’s hardware division, called Lab126, is designing the new Alexa device to be a digital command center for the smart home, with features such as “showing users upcoming calendar events, controlling accessories like lights and locks, and playing music and video.” According to the unnamed source, it would also feature microphones and a camera for video conferencing or likely managing Ring doorbells... The ink is barely dry on the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 family of Snapdragon 888-powered smartphones, but as is often the case when new flagships launch, there are already some sweet discounts available for bargain shoppers. When the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra launched last month, they were priced from $799, $999, and $1,199 respectively. Today's deal, however, sees those prices fall by up to $200 if you opt for the pricier members of the Galaxy S21 family. Starting things off is the Galaxy S21, which is already a good bargain at $799. That price gets you a 6.2-inch FHD+ display (2400x1080), a Snapdragon 888 SoC, 12GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a... Read more...
Two and a half decades after founding the company and serving at its chief executive officer ever since, Jeff Bezos has announced that he is stepping out of the role. The move will come during the third quarter of 2021, when he will transition to become executive chair of Amazon. It has been announced that Andy Jassy will become the new CEO of Amazon at the time. Jassy currently oversees the company's booming Amazon Web Services (AWS) division. Bezos says that he will be leaving Amazon in good hands as Andy is "well known inside the company" and has been a part of the Amazon family for "almost as long as I have." But what everyone is probably wondering is why exactly would Bezos want to step... Read more...
It looks as though Amazon is feeling a bit of pressure when it comes to popular lineup of Video Doorbells produced by its Ring subsidiary. The Ring Video Doorbell, which was last updated in 2020, is priced at $99.99. While that may be cheap for a device from Ring, there are competitors out there that are far cheaper. To get to an even lower price point, Ring today announced the Video Doorbell Wired. This is an all-new device with a slimmer profile, while retaining most of the features of its more expensive siblings. The biggest omission, however, is that this model doesn't have a battery. The lack of a battery accounts for most of the cost savings that you'll find with the Video... Read more...
Amazon has long been working on trying to make users’ lives more convenient with connected devices. They initially introduced the concept of “Hunches” in 2018. This allowed Alexa to inform a user when something was not quite right with their connected device and offer to fix the issue if possible. The company has recently taken Hunches to the next level by enabling Alexa to proactively complete tasks based on the user’s habits without asking for permission beforehand. Alexa is now able to interact with various smart devices without needing to inform users about their actions. These devices include lights, plugs, smart locks, thermostats, and vacuums. According to... Read more...
It appears that Corsair is trying to up its game in the SSD space soon with a Pro-level successor to the current Corsair MP600 SSD. The Corsair MP600 Pro leaked on Amazon yesterday and boasts a whopping 7,000MB/S (7GB/s) read and 6,850 MB/s (6.85GB/s) write speeds. This sort of performance would put Corsair in the same ballpark as, if not beating out, competitors such as Samsung or Sabrent. Thanks to keen-eyed momomo_us on Twitter, we get to see the Corsair 1TB MP600 Pro on the German Amazon website. According to the listing, the high-performance SSD uses a x4 PCIe 4 NVME M.2 interface, which allows the read and write speeds marketed. Inside, the SSD uses “high-density 3D TLC NAND,”... Cyberpunk 2077 launched in early December to much fanfare, but that excitement and hype around the game was short-lived after scores of bugs and performance issues cropped up with the game... primarily with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. It’s been a wild month for developer CD Projekt Red as it deals with the fallout from the launch (including a couple of class-action lawsuits). Given the negativity that has been surrounding the game over the past month, it should come as no surprise that prices have been steadily dropping. Prices have fallen to the point where Cyberpunk 2077 can be had for just $34.99 from both Amazon and Best Buy. We're normally not used to... Read more...
If people trust their information with businesses tasked with keeping them safe, those companies should at least try to take security seriously. It seems that is not necessarily the case, as a flaw in an app created by Ring was exposing precise location data of customers who posted to the app, when it should have been hiding it. Ring is a smart doorbell and IoT company that created the Neighbors app in 2018, around the same time Amazon completed its acquisition of the company. The Neighbors app was something of a social app where Ring doorbell owners could anonymously share videos that show crime. Think along the lines of a digital neighborhood watch with video footage. Vulnerable Data On Neighbors... Read more...
We're not sure who needs to hear this at Amazon, be it Jeff Bezos or a warehouse manager, or someone in the shipping logistics group, but for the love of everything that is holy, can you PLEASE stop skimping on shipping materials when sending out AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors that cost several hundred dollars? Pretty please, with a Raspberry Pi on top? Look, we get it—over packaging items is both wasteful and an annoyance. You know, like when ordering a stick of lip balm and it gets shipped out in a box that would have been big enough to hold 100 sticks of lip balm, and could have just as easily been sent in a soft-pack mailer -- like the ones you folks for some reason are also using... The situation surrounding the latest generation PC gaming hardware is both frustrating and annoying—certain desirable items are in short supply, and scripted bots only exacerbate things. So imagine finally getting your hands on a Ryzen 5000 series CPU, only for it to arrive damaged, as if Ace Ventura was the delivery person. Unfortunately for an unlucky chap on Reddit, no imagination is needed. After waiting two months to get their hands on a Ryzen 5000 series CPU—any Zen 3 CPU—they finally scored one, a Ryzen 5 5600X. Normally that would be cause for elation, but any good feelings quickly turned sour when the thing arrived, sent out in a soft pack mailer. The result is what... Read more...
At a time when 3.5mm jacks have been a rarity on today's smartphones, it should come as no surprise that wireless earbuds have exploded in popularity. While there are popular options like the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live and Apple AirPods Pro, those devices are typically on sale for around $140 and $200 respectively. Not everyone wants to spend that amount of dough on wireless earbuds, so we've got a few examples below that should offer good sound at a more affordable price point. The Samsung Galaxy Buds nestle neatly within your ears, and have been tuned by AKG. They offer up to six hours of battery life, and come with a charging case which can be recharged wirelessly and provides an additional... Read more...
As we close out the year 2020, discounts are starting to pile up on Amazon-branded hardware for those that want to expand their "smart home" using their new acquired Christmas cash. The discounts abound on a wide variety of hardware from Echo smart speakers, to Fire TV Edition televisions to wireless ear buds, so sit back and take a look at what Amazon has to offer. Echo Smart Speakers Amazon recently redesigned its most popular speaker: the Echo Dot. The fourth-generation model now has an all-new spherical shape, which is a drastic departure from the previous hockey puck designs. Despite the new design, not much has changed with respect to features or sound quality (for better or worse). The... Read more...
This year, the supply of various technology items has been struggling to meet the incredible demand from consumers. People are generally stuck inside with money to burn and time to kill, and a new console or PC is just the ticket to keeping busy for a while. A reddit user who goes by the name McChickenBorn decided it was time to upgrade his PC with a hard to obtain AMD Ryzen 9 5900X CPU. However, when it arrived, the CPU box was absolutely mangled due to it being shipped in a soft-pack envelope, oops! Getting new bits for a computer can be incredibly exciting unless it comes damaged, which is a significant letdown. Moreover, it is incredibly disappointing when it is hard to get your hands... Earlier this morning, we brought you some deals on excellent gaming laptops that complete with discrete graphics and chest-thumping 6- and 8-core processors. The cheapest entry on that last came in $849, but our next list is aimed at laptops priced at $750 or less. First up on our list is the Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1, which Best Buy is currently selling in both 15.6-inch and 13.3-inch configurations. The 13.3-inch model is cheaper at $649.99 and features an 11th generation (Tiger Lake) Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a display resolution of 1920x1080. Graphics duties are of course handled by the integrated 12th generation Iris Xe graphics controller.... Read more...
