The upstart Epic Games Store is taking more than a few cues from Valve in how it operates its own storefront, and today has announced its first "epic" sales on digital games. Epic is labeling the promotion the "Mega Sale" and it is offering games at up to 75 percent off their regular price. Epic Games has been catching a lot of heat lately for paying to make games exclusive to its Steam alternative called the Epic Games Store. Gamers are upset because many PC gamers like that Steam offers all the games they want in one place with one program to maintain. Epic Games has issued a challenge to Steam that promised to stop pursuing exclusives for the Epic Games Store if Steam would give developers a larger cut of the profits for their games. These days Valve is more about the Steam store, the place where gamers flock to buy all their games digitally and store them in one place. On the gamer side of things, the Steam store is a great way to keep games in one place forever without having to deal with keeping up with discs and install codes. Borderlands fans were excited when the latest game in the franchise, Borderlands 3, was announced just a few days ago. What some fans aren't so excited about is that the game is rumored to be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Several high profile game publishers are trying to escape the Steam tax that Valve imposes and Fortnite was the first major game to skip the Steam store in favor of the Epic Games Store. Instead, Epic Games created its own store to peddle Fortnite and was able to keep all the profits for itself.
