We're suckers for large-format, high resolution displays here at HotHardware, and Acer is now making available a new entry that is sure to be a delight for your eyes. The Predator CG437K P is a large format gaming display (LFGD) that measures 43 inches across and features a 4K (3840z2160) resolution. Acer just announced a new line of products at their press conference in Berlin, and some of the standout products include the Predator Triton 300, Triton 500 with a 300Hz display, and the Acer Nitro XV3 series. Acer is particularly interested in increasing its number of thin Windows 10 gaming notebooks, and the Predator Triton 300 is the newest addition. There are gaming chairs, and then there is Acer's Predator Thronos Air, a herculean contraption that might be better described as a gaming battle station. Calling it a "chair" is a disservice to the design and functionality—in fact, Acer playfully refers to it as a "sleek gaming cave for hardcore enthusiasts," which sounds accurate to us. Like something out of a sci-fi movie, the Predator Thronos Air looks like the type of thing future generations will strap into when embarking on a virtual journey. I don't know if I agree with Acer's "sleek" descriptor, but it is definitely wild and...different. It is also a multi-purpose chair. "The steel structure includes a chair, modular desk, and... The race to launch gaming monitors with impossibly fast response times is accelerating. Just a week ago, Acer unleashed its Predator XN253Q Xwhich has a 0.4ms response time, and today the company is announcing two new monitors in its Nitro XF2 Series. The 27-inch Nitro XF272 X leads the field with a 3ms native response time; however, that can drop down to an incredible 0.2ms (gray-to-gray) when using the overdrive mode. It is complemented by the 25-inch Nitro XF252Q, which features a still impressive 0.3ms response time in overdrive mode. Regardless of which monitor you pick, a 240Hz refresh panel is included in the mix along with AMD FreeSync support for your Radeon graphics card (including... Read more...
We love premium laptops and convertibles. A meticulously engineered build, finely-tuned performance, and solid battery life comprise the three primary tenets we look for when reviewing new machines. Checking these boxes does come at a cost, leaving many of our favorite laptops with hefty price tags. Unfortunately, most of us cannot justify dropping a stack of cash for the latest and greatest. Instead, mainstream consumers turn to the thriving midrange market. Here, manufacturer’s compete for our hard earned dollar with a wide range of solutions, each of which caters to a slightly different slice of end user usage models. When you cannot have it all, compromises must be made. In recent years,... Read more...
Earlier the month, AOC dropped jaws when it announced its latest 24.5- and 27-inch gaming monitors boasting an ultra-low response time of 0.5ms. Now, it's Acer's turn with the unveil of the Predator XN253Q X 24.5-inch gaming monitor. The Predator XN253Q X features a 1920x1080 panel with a high 240Hz refresh rate, but its headlining feature is an incredibly fast response time of just 0.4 seconds. Acer claims that this allows the monitor to achieve "amazingly accurate gameplay even in the fastest action scenes." We've yet to see either AOC's or Acer's latest sub 1ms gaming monitors in action, but we're eager to see how much of a difference this spec really makes in the real world when... Read more...

NVIDIA this week hopped on Twitter to tease an upcoming mobile GPU launch, saying simply, "They're coming," along with a panned shot of a laptop keyboard. Donning our detective caps, we can reasonably determine NVIDIA is referring to mobile Turing GPUs that lack real-time ray tracing and Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). In other words, mobile GTX parts based on the company's latest GPU architecture. For one, there already exist laptops based on NVIDA's GeForce RTX GPUs, from the likes of Alienware, ASUS, MSI, Razer, and others. That includes Max-Q Design variants, like the Razer Blade 15 with a GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q. So barring a complete surprise from NVIDIA, we are pretty sure what the... Read more...

Acer notes that the display is PANTONE Validated and covers 100% of the Adobe RGB color gamut with Delta E <1 color accuracy. The machine includes... Read more...
Acer is ready to take PC gaming to the next level with a brand-new entry into its high-end Helios family of laptops. The company today introduced the Helios 700, which is sure to turn heads due to its trick keyboard. Rather than stay stationary like just about every other laptop on the market, the Helios 700’s HyperDrift keyboard actually slides out towards you. This allows the Precision Touchpad and palm rest to sit at a more ergonomic angle. Acer says that by moving the keyboard closer towards you, the user is able to keep a comfortable distance away from the 17-inch display. The sliding keyboard also has an added benefit of improving airflow for a cooling system that already incorporates... Read more...

Over the past few months, the company has expanded at the lower-end of the spectrum with the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1660. Now, NVIDIA is apparently ready to spread some GTX Turing lovin’ to gaming laptops with GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GeForce GTX 1650 Mobility GPUs.
