Everyone wants a big, bright, high-resolution HDTV, but budget concerns prevent some consumers from pulling the trigger. Well, if you’re one of those people, Best Buy currently has a deal in place that may have you running for your credit card. There is an Insignia (Best Buy’s house brand), 55” 4K SmartTV, with HDR support and built-in Amazon FireTV (with voice remote) on sale for only $249 at the moment. That is a ridiculously low price for a 55” 4K HDR television, especially one with this one’s features and specifications that comes so highly rated. There are some crappy, cheap 4K televisions currently on the market (I should know, I have one that I hate),... Read more...

People wanting to acquire some tech goodness for Christmas giving can start shopping right now in fact. If someone on your Christmas list wants a new iPhone, some deals are going right now at Best Buy and Target that will save you some money ahead of the holiday rush. Best Buy is offering a deal on the iPhone X that will afford people who trade in eligible devices the ability to get in on a $275 gift card for their trouble. The iPhone X has to be activated on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, though T-Mobile is nowhere to be found on this deal, unfortunately. The big caveat of the deal is that... Read more...
Google's Pixel 3 family was one of the most anticipated smartphone launches of 2018, and as we showed in our hands-on review, it's been worth the wait. However, if you weren't one of the early birds first out of the gate to purchase Google's new Android Pie flagships, there's a new deal going on at Best Buy that might be worth your attention. If you purchase a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL to activate on the Verizon Wireless network at Best Buy, you'll receive a free Nest Cam Indoor Security Camera. There aren't any promotional codes or silly mail-in rebates to mess with; simply add either the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL to your cart, and the Nest Cam will be added automatically. For those keeping... Samsung is ending the work week with a bang. Yesterday the company launched its much-anticipated Galaxy Note 9 handset, and today it is opening up preorders for the device. Pricing starts at $999.99 so it is not for the faint of wallet or purse, however there are buy one, get one (BOGO) offers available at Best Buy to significantly soften the blow. Before we get to more pricing details, let's quickly recap the specs. The Galaxy Note 9 wields a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2960x1440 resolution (18.5:9 aspect ratio), 83.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, and HDR support, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Samsung's new phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which is still Qualcomm's... Read more...
ASUS is shaking things up in the smartphone market with a budget phone that is the antithesis of a $1,000 handset like Sony's Xperia XZ2 Premium. The company's new ZenFone Live (L1) costs a fraction of that at $109.99, planting itself firmly in affordable territory, and if you want one you will have to head over to Best Buy where it is exclusively available for the moment. As you might imagine, the ZenFone Live is not rocking the latest and greatest hardware at that price point. Whereas flagship handsets typically sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, the ZenFone Live (L1) is powered by a modest Snapdragon 425, an entry-level system-on-chip (SoC) for tablets and smartphones that was released... Video may have killed the radio star, as The Buggles so famously put it nearly four decades ago, but what the band couldn't have predicted at the time is that digital streaming would murder physical media. Best Buy is now an accomplice—the retail electronics chain recently told music suppliers that it was pulling CDs from its stores this month. If you walk into a Best Buy location, there is a good chance you will no longer see rows of music CDs. When communicating its decision to music suppliers, the company said it was yanking them on July 1, this past Sunday. This led to reports that Best Buy was done with music CDs altogether, though that's not actually the case. While Best Buy is saying... Read more...
In what can be considered a sign of the times, Best Buy has reportedly told music supplies that it is phasing out sales of physical CDs. Interestingly enough, the electronics chain will continue to carry vinyl records, a music medium that predates CDs but has seen a resurgence in recent years. Best Buy will merchandise vinyl with turntables, or record players if you prefer the old school term. Besides vinyl, streaming music is where it's at these days. Spotify is the top streaming music service globally and still boasts the most paid subscribers in the United States, though Apple Music is on pace to leapfrog Spotify in the US by this summer. Between just those two streaming services alone, there... Read more...
Many of the juiciest deals on Black Friday are often deeply discounted technology products, making Best Buy a seemingly obviously destination for anyone trying to score a deal. But will the electronics chain live up to expectations? It very well may—Best Buy's Black Friday advertisement lists some enticing deals, including $300 off any of Samsung's flagship Galaxy phones, those being the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8. The discount requires "qualified activation" with a wireless carrier. Best Buy specifically lists Verizon and Sprint on its advertisement, so it looks like AT&T and T-Mobile customers will have to look elsewhere for a deal, though that is not entirely clear... Best Buy did not earn itself any brownie points by overcharging customers for Apple's newly minted iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X handsets, each of which carried a $100 premium for the privilege of buying one from the electronics chain instead of direct from Apple, and its explanation as to why it has now pulled the unlocked SKUs from its store shelves is just lame. Summed up, the marked up phones did not sell in part because of "noise in the media" and "confusion" with its customers. Really, Best Buy? "Although there was clearly demand for the un-activated iPhone X, selling it that way cost more money, causing some confusion with our customers and noise in the media," Best Buy spokeswoman... It seems like just yesterday when Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone was released, promising to take on the big names in the Android smartphone market like Samsung, LG, HTC and Google. With its slim bezels and odd cutout around its front-facing camera, the Essential Phone definitely turned a few heads when it was first announced. However, not many people were particularly enamored with its $699.99 price. Well, if you were sitting on the fence because of the price tag, Best Buy has a deal that just might get you to make the final leap. The electronics retailer has slashed $100 off the price of the smartphone, bringing it down to $599.99. This is for an unlocked device, and you can take your pick from... Read more...
Kaspersky just lost a major customer. Best Buy, the largest electronics retailer in the United States, is yanking Kaspersky's security products off its brick-and-mortar and online store shelves. While Kaspersky has traditionally been one of the most well regarded developers of security software for PCs and mobile devices, more recently some have voiced concerns over the company's potential ties with the Russian government. It is not clear what exactly was the straw that broke the camel in this case. Best Buy may have been spooked by numerous media reports covering the topic, or it could have been a congressional investigation that swayed the electronics chain. Just last month, the Federal Bureau... Read more...
We are all suckers for nostalgia, it seems, especially when it comes to old school gaming. Our collective desire to relive games of yesteryear was on full display when Nintendo released and quickly sold out of its miniature NES Classic Edition console, and now again with the Super NES Classic Edition, another mini-sized game system that flew off virtual store shelves just as quickly as it was stocked (again). Congratulations to the late night owls who scored a Super NES Classic from Best Buy before the retailer emptied its inventory. Best Buy lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated console at around 1:00 AM Eastern on its website, and by roughly 1:30 AM, online shoppers had snatched up every... Read more...
