PC gamers often don't want to play games on a console and hold out in hopes of a decent port. There are so many console gamers and only a few consoles to develop for, so developers tend to go that route on many games to start. One perfect example is Red Dead Redemption 2. The game launched on Xbox and PS4, while the PC gamers out there who refuse to use a controller, have been waiting to see when and if the game would land for them to play. Rumors of a Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) PC port have resurfaced after a mysterious RDR2 listing turned up on the Australian Classification Board's website this week. Initially, the request for a rating, which doesn't specify its for the PC, was denied. However,... Read more...
It seems as though game launchers are becoming even more prevalent these days, and Rockstar Games is the latest developer to jump on the bandwagon. Other available titles include Max Payne 3: Complete Edition, LA Noire: Complete Edition and GTA Vice City (among others). You can directly purchase games using the launcher, and it will also add games that you have already installed on your machine. This includes games purchased on Steam, allowing you to access all of your... Read more...
Grand Theft Auto V first burst onto the scene nearly six years ago, but the game has experienced an extended shelf life thanks to its GTA Online component. Rockstar today announced the availability of the latest extension to GTA Online: the new Diamond Casino & Resort. The entertainment and living complex is located on Vinewood Park Drive, and has plenty of activities to keep you occupied when you're tired of the single-player campaign and other multiplayer events. The casino life is in full effect here, as you'll be able to take your chances with Three Card Poker, Roulette, Blackjack or the venerable slot machines. Heck, you can even bet on horse racing if you're into that sorta thing. Another... Read more...
Many Red Dead Online players have never thought to set a horse on fire. That thought having never crossing the minds of many players is why some fans of the game have been so disturbed over the last few days. Piles of dead, burned horses have been showing up outside towns around the game world. Reports indicate that the piles of dead horses have to do with some sort of duplication bug in the game. The first instance of the piles of dead and burned up horses started to turn up Saturday night. Initially, players believed that the piles of burnt horses was the work of a few determined players making some sort of strange statement in the game. Reports indicate if you shoot near the piles of dead... Read more...
Red Dead Redemption 2 crushed records in its opening weekend setting a record for the highest earnings in entertainment industry history. The game raked $752 million into the coffers over at Rockstar, and that was before the online portion of the game even started. That online portion is called Red Dead Online and has been tipped to get its own battle royale mode called "Make it Count" supporting up to 32 players. The beta for Red Dead Online wrapped up yesterday and there have been some big complaints about the game from beta participants. Beta participants say that the missions and multiplayer mode in the game payout limited amounts of in-game currency, while the purchasable items in the game,... Read more...
Red Dead Redemption 2 was one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018, and it launched last month to mostly rave reviews (unlike Fallout 76). While the game has been praised for its single-player campaign, the multiplayer campaign is still a work-in-progress. Luckily, Rockstar is opening up a beta for Read Dead Online starting this week, and you'll be able to join in on all of the fun with players across the globe. According to Rockstar, Red Dead Online was built from the ground up to take advantage of the current generation of gaming consoles -- namely the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 families. The first window of opportunity to test the Red Dead Online beta will be tomorrow... Read more...
As we inch closer to the October 26 launch date for the highly anticipated title Red Dead Redemption 2, more and more details on the game are coming out. We learned not long ago that if you ditch the minimap in the game, the NPCs will dish out directions to keep you on track. Rockstar also put out a second gameplay trailer to give us a look at what the game will offer earlier this month. In a recent story, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser talked about Red Dead Redemption 2 and gave up some very interesting facts about the game. Houser noted that the team working on the game put in 100-hour weeks several times in 2018 to get the game finished. Working huge amounts of hours isn’t that... Read more...
Gamers have a lot to look forward to as 2018 winds down, and one of the most anticipated games on the docket is Red Dead Redemption 2. This is a game that fans of the franchise have waited years to play, and the launch is almost here. A new rumor about the game is making the rounds today that tips a feature you won’t see unless you ditch the mini-map guiding you around the world. Word is that when you turn off the mini-map, the dialog that NPCs dole out will change. With the map disabled, the NPCs will give you directions to help you navigate around the world. That dialog is said to include routes to take and landmarks you will see along the way. When you run the mini-map in the game... Read more...
One of the most anticipated games of the year is Red Dead Redemption 2; the game is set to launch on October 26, which is only a few weeks away. We already know a lot about the game, including that it will need 105GB of space on your console hard drive. Sony and Rockstar have teamed up to offer players a Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) PS4 Pro bundle if you need a console to play it on. The last new trailer for the game was back in early August, and now Rockstar has another one for fans to check out. This trailer highlights the wide variety of activities that players can partake in with the game. It also highlights the fact that danger lurks everywhere in this world; gamers worried that RDR2 wouldn't... Read more...
There are plenty of exciting games coming this fall, and one of the titles that gamers are looking forward to is the Rockstar-produced, western-themed game Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). Last month a brand-new gameplay trailer turned up for Red Dead getting the masses excited for its launch. A tidbit about RDR2 has surfaced that isn't good news; if you have lots of content on your console and storage space is at a premium this may be a huge problem. RDR2 will be the biggest game in terms of sheer storage space needed that has ever landed on the PS4. An image of the back of the PS4 Pro RDR2 bundle shows requirements for the game: 105GB is required for the install. Start planning what you can live... Read more...
As we reported last week, Take-Two sent a cease-and-desist letter to the developers of the OpenIV modding tool for Grand Theft Auto, claiming that the software was guilty of “allow[ing] third parties to defeat security features of its software and modify that software in violation Take-Two’s rights“. As a result, OpenIV is no longer available to the modding community. Well, gamers have spoken, and they are incredibly ticked off with Take-Two’s decision to wallop the popular OpenIV modding tool into submission. If you head on over to the Grand Theft Auto V page on Steam, gamers have torched the rating for the game, pushing nearly 41,000 reviews during the past 30 days. Only 13 percent of those... Take-Two clearly doesn't look at the modding scene with the same love as many of its peers. The Grand Theft Auto series has had a rich modding community for years, with its creative fans adding an incredible amount of content to Rockstar's most important series. Sometimes, even new mechanics are added. While most people who pick up the latest GTA don't even have modding on their mind, there are some others who buy the game with only modding in mind. That says a lot not just about modding, but about what a great base for such mods Grand Theft Auto is. And that's despite the fact that the games are in no shape or form designed to support modding.... Read more...
Grand Theft Auto might get the lions share of the attention from Rockstar fans, but the developer has released a few other gems over the years as well, including some that sound downright bizarre at first, but turn out to be quite good. Such as Bully, which has just passed its tenth birthday. In Bully, you find yourself in the town of Bullworth playing the role of a high school student. It's an open world game (although limited compared to today's open-world epics) that lets you try to progress up the ranks of the school system, and tackle any and all roadblocks that arise. Rockstar has spruced up the graphics for the Android and iOS versions of the game, and this relatively straight-forward... Read more...
While the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V was fashionably late to the release party, PC gamers have been blasted with the powerful and quite fun full video recording and editing capabilities. Console gamers have sat on the sidelines with their hands in their pockets (Rockstar Games initially said that this the editor would be a PC exclusive, before later backing down from those claims), but it looks as though the wait will soon be over. Rockstar Games this week announced that the Rockstar Editor will make its way to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles next month. In addition to making the editor available to console, Rockstar states that all-new editor functionality will be coming to all three... Read more...
Well, who didn’t see this one coming? Delays for highly anticipated video games are nothing new, so you shouldn’t be too surprised to hear that Rockstar Games has delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto V for the PC. The game was originally set to debut on January 27, but that date has now been pushed back until March 24. “Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be,” said Rockstar in a posting on its website earlier this morning. “Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for... Read more...
Back in April, Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto V would be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. One thing many fans of highly anticipated games look forward to is the beta access. Getting the opportunity to play, test, and provide feedback on the game is one that many enjoy participating in. But, as usual, there are those that try to take advantage of a consumer’s enthusiasm and Rockstar Games is warning fans not to fall for any beta scams. Considering the popularity of GTA V, which was able to generate $800 million in sales within the first 24 hours of release, it is no surprise that scammers would try to capitalize on that success and anticipation of... Despite the fact that Grand Theft Auto V was released over nine months ago, it continues to find its way into headlines sometimes for good reasons, other times for less-than-ideal reasons. But regardless of those reasons, publicity is publicity, and I'm sure Rockstar welcomes it. The game, which was recently announced to come to additional platforms this fall, once again finds itself in headlines today, and from an unsuspecting source: Lindsay Lohan. As it happens, a character in GTA V resembles Lohan slightly, and apparently shares a similar voice and clothes line. Generally, I write this kind of accusation off right away, but this is Rockstar we're dealing with, and it's hardly a stranger to... Read more...
You can get a jump start on the 4th of July festivities by downloading a Grand Theft Auto V title update (version 1.15) containing special content for Independence Day. This is very much a themed update with two new vehicles sporting permanent American Flag livery -- the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. All that's missing is a bumper sticker declaring, "These colors don't run!" Naturally no GTA V update would be complete without new weapons, and this one brings them in a form of a high-powered Musket and a Firework Rocket Launcher. It also introduces four types of fireworks that can be purchased at Ammu-Nation, each of which come in three colors -- red, white,... Read more...
What’s that, you say? You’re sick to death of the high-stakes patent wars being waged by huge tech companies against one another? Well too bad, because if anything, things are just escalating. A consortium called Rockstar, which is comprised of Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson, and Sony, is suing Google (and others) over an alleged violation of patents related to matching search terms with advertising, according to Reuters. Credit: Sam Howzit via Flickr When Nortel went bankrupt a few years ago, the Rockstar group outbid Google $4.5 billion to $4.4 billion for Nortel’s patents. Although Google went on to snap up Motorola Mobility and its juicy patent portfolio, the lawsuit... Read more...
