Rumblings started back in June that Microsoft had some new hardware planned for 2019. Some were surprised when Microsoft sent out invites earlier this month to a hardware event that is suggested to be for the unveiling of new Surface hardware. One of the devices expected at that hardware event scheduled for October 2 is the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2. Ahead of that event, a slew of images has leaked that claim to be of the new laptop in its various colors. Android fans who have been wondering when they can get hands on the next flavor of Android have a date to look forward to. According to leaker Evan Blass, Android P will be launching on August 20. Blass tweeted an image of a calendar noting that fans might want to save the date. He didn’t give an indication of where this rumor was sourced. Blass does have quite the track record of accurate rumor mongering. The one thing that we still don't know about Android P is what its official name will be. Some reports suggest that the "P" will stand for Pistachio Ice Cream, which doesn’t... Read more...
Many smartphone fans out there have a favorite set of headphones that they use on-the-go for listening to music. For most people, that favored set of headphones has a 3.5mm plug and needs to be plugged in for use. Apple, on the other hand, has been trying to steer iPhone users away from wired headphones for several years. That fact was never more obvious than when it did away with the integrated 3.5mm headphone port. While the integrated port might have disappeared, Apple has been offering Lightning to 3.5mm adapters in the box with its iPhones. A new research note that originated with a Barclays... Read more...
We know that Samsung is eying the end of the Galaxy Note line if the Note 9 doesn't do well. That device has been leaked multiple time so far including pricing rumors and benchmarks showing it's a fast device. Pricing will have as much to do with if the Note 9 is successful as performance. Early indications were that the smartphone could cost somewhere between $1,200 and $1,500 depending on the storage you choose. A new pricing rumor is making the rounds and alleging that the 128GB device will go for 13,500,000 IDR in Indonesia, which is around $940. The costlier 512GB version is said to sell for... In May word was going around that noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo was leaving KGI Securities and the world of Apple rumors behind. While he did, in fact, leave KGI, he is still prophesying things all things Apple and is back with a new rumor. Kuo is now at TF International Securities and has published an investor note that outlines what he expects to see in the fall hardware lineup from Apple. Perhaps the biggest news is that long after Tim Cook promised the Mac mini would remain part of the lineup as the cheapest Mac, it will finally get a performance update. Sadly, if you are dying for... Read more...
We've heard plenty of rumors circulating about the Samsung Galaxy X folding smartphone, which was revealed in a patent filing back in late 2016. Last month a new rumor surfaced that claimed the Galaxy X will redefine high-end smartphones in terms of pricing when it launches. That rumor suggested that the Galaxy X could run as much as $1,850 without carrier subsidies. A new rumor is floating around and this one focuses on what type of battery will power the smartphone. The battery, which will be manufactured by Samsung SDI, is tipped to be a giant 6,000 mAh unit that folds. A folding battery makes... Read more...
Apple helped to introduce the smartphone world to more expensive, premium handsets in part, thanks to the launch of the $1,000 iPhone X. Other manufacturers followed right along with Apple and launched their own $1,000 plus flagship devices. Now, rumors are pointing to pricing taking an even higher jump in the high-end smartphone market, once folding devices launch. Samsung is working on a folding smartphone dubbed the Galaxy X, a support page of the device leaked late last year confirming the next Galaxy, a patent app has been seen, and many expected the Galaxy X to surface at CES 2018, but no... The rumor mill is at full tilt when it comes to the Galaxy S10 and the foldable Galaxy X smartphones that are in the works by Samsung. We've also had more than a few leaks that focus on the folding screen Galaxy X smartphone. Most notable was the leaked support page for the device that turned up in late 2017. Another significant leak has happened, and it gives a bit more alleged information on the Galaxy... Read more...
Few people go out at the top of their game, but it appears that is exactly what Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst for all things Apple, is doing. Kuo has long had the most accurate Apple predictions that are based on sources that he has been able to procure in the Apple supply chain. Kuo is moving on from his post at KGI for another firm, and word is that Kuo will be covering non-Apple companies. So, what gives? We know for iron-clad fact that Apple has been on a witch hunt in all aspects of the company and supply chain to find and silence leakers. Speculation is that Kuo's sources may... Read more...

A new rumor is floating around that claims Apple isn’t betting big on the iPhone X for the current quarter. This comes on the heels of Apple having reportedly slashed iPhone X orders by half for Q1 2018. The new rumor claims that Apple has only ordered 8 million iPhone X smartphones for the current quarter due to slow sales. Orders in Q1 2018 were reported to be 20 million units. The source claims that while those 20 million units represented half of what Apple had planned to build for Q1 2018, it still built too many of the very expensive smartphones for the quarter that ended in December.... Apple is still making massive profits, but those profits reportedly aren’t as high as the company expected. The iPhone X cost so much and lacked features that appeal broadly to users meaning that sales of the smartphone were much lower than Apple had expected. Back in January, word was circulating that Apple had slashed production of the iPhone X in half for Q1 2018 due to poor demand. Rumors have also suggested that Apple is set to launch three new iPhone models this year including an updated iPhone X, a bigger iPhone X Plus, and a cheaper iPhone model. A new rumor about that cheaper device... Read more...
