Apple helped to introduce the smartphone world to more expensive, premium handsets in part, thanks to the launch of the $1,000 iPhone X. Other manufacturers followed right along with Apple and launched their own $1,000 plus flagship devices. Kuo is moving on from his post at KGI for another firm, and word is that Kuo will be covering non-Apple companies. So, what gives? We know for iron-clad fact that Apple has been on a witch hunt in all aspects of the company and supply chain to find and silence leakers. Speculation is that Kuo's sources may... Read more...

A new rumor is floating around that claims Apple isn’t betting big on the iPhone X for the current quarter. This comes on the heels of Apple having reportedly slashed iPhone X orders by half for Q1 2018. The new rumor claims that Apple has only ordered 8 million iPhone X smartphones for the current quarter due to slow sales. Orders in Q1 2018 were reported to be 20 million units. The source claims that while those 20 million units represented half of what Apple had planned to build for Q1 2018, it still built too many of the very expensive smartphones for the quarter that ended in December.... Apple is still making massive profits, but those profits reportedly aren’t as high as the company expected. Back in January, word was circulating that Apple had slashed production of the iPhone X in half for Q1 2018 due to poor demand. Rumors have also suggested that Apple is set to launch three new iPhone models this year including an updated iPhone X, a bigger iPhone X Plus, and a cheaper iPhone model. A new rumor about that cheaper device... Read more...
This week has been a big one for Apple, yesterday it launched the rumored budget iPad aimed specifically at schools with Apple Pencil support. While that event was underway, a new round of rumors started by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo focused on upcoming Apple Watch updates, which will land this fall. According to the analyst, the new watch will sport a 15% larger screen. That doesn't necessarily mean that the updated watches will be larger than the 38mm or 42mm size they have always been. It could be that the new screens will simply be pushed more to the edges of the watch as Apple has... Read more...
Things are a bit complicated in the technology world right now. Broadcom really wants to buy Qualcomm and merge the two coms into one company. The problem for Broadcom so far is that Qualcomm has rejected each of its offers because its wants more money. There is real doubt cast on any deal at any price because the U.S. government is going to scrutinize the deal over potential national security issues due to foreign investment. If Broadcom can convince U.S. regulators that it should be allowed to purchase Qualcomm, an even bigger fish is standing by possibly ready to gobble up Broadcom. A report... Read more...
