Rockstar Games recently confirmed its wildly popular Red Dead Redemption 2 game would soon be galloping over to PC. Now here in the homestretch leading up to the launch, the developer revealed what kind of specs will be necessary to play RDR2 on PC. They are not too demanding, though if you're rocking a paltry solid state drive, you may need to get something more capacious. That's because RDR2 requires 150GB of disk space. Easy cheesy if you own a bulky hard drive and have not already filled it up with photos, videos, and everything else. But if you're skating by with, say, a 256GB SSD, you might not have enough free space to install the game. Fortunately, pricing on SSDs have come down dramatically... Read more...

PC gamers often don't want to play games on a console and hold out in hopes of a decent port. There are so many console gamers and only a few consoles to develop for, so developers tend to go that route on many games to start. One perfect example is Red Dead Redemption 2. The game launched on Xbox and PS4, while the PC gamers out there who refuse to use a controller, have been waiting to see when and if the game would land for them to play. Rumors of a Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) PC port have resurfaced after a mysterious RDR2 listing turned up on the Australian Classification Board's website this week. Initially, the request for a rating, which doesn't specify its for the PC, was denied. However,... Read more...
PC gamers were not happy when RockStar decided to forego the PC launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) right out of the gate. The move was no surprise, however. Rockstar game fans know that the developer will eventually launch RDR2 on the PC, it just wanted to wait until the fuss for the game on the console platforms dies down, and then port it to the PC to spur sales for a second time. Rumors about a port to the PC surfaced for the first time in June of 2018 before the game launched. Those first hints came from a LinkedIn Profile for a developer on the game, but the profile was quickly changed. Evidence again surfaced in October that a PC port was afoot. Now, we have indication from two developers... Read more...

When it comes to entertainment, many might expect the Hollywood movie industry to take in the most money, but that assumption would be wrong. The latest figures from the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and The NPD Group show that the video game industry destroyed the movie industry on a revenue front during 2018. The video game industry raked in $43.4 billion in revenue altogether, nearly four times the money made by the top 100 movies of 2018. Statistics showed for the year that the video game industry saw 18% growth in revenue compared to 2017. Included in the $43.4 billion figure for the industry overall was hardware sales, which accounted for $7.5 billion in revenue. When combined,... Read more...
Red Dead Redemption 2 is widely regarded as a fairly accurate representation of the southwestern United States in the late nineteenth century. However, one group is not pleased with Rockstar’s depiction of the wild wild west. The Pinkerton Incorporation is suing Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two. The Pinkertons filed a cease and desist order this past December and contended that Rockstar had no right to use the Pinkerton name in the game. They insisted that Take-Two either pay royalties or settle outside of court. They are particularly frustrated that they “are used as villains, hunting the game's protagonists.” Rockstar and Take-Two have responded to the Pinkertons... Read more...
This holiday season you could potentially walk through both an actual and virtual winter wonderland. One redditor discovered a glitch in Red Dead Redemption 2 that leads to a snowy region. The area is one of several sections in Red Dead Redemption 2 that can be reached through a glitch. Redditor u/Huntroploria excitedly posted that they had “Managed to glitch out of the map...Currently exploring what else may lie beyond reach…” This restricted area lies north of the map and features mountains, frozen lakes, and an ice wall. The Redditor did not discover any Game of Thrones-style White Walkers, but he did find a few animals to interact with. Image via Reddit  There are... Read more...
The most successful video game launch in entertainment industry history goes to Red Dead Redemption 2 with $752 million in sales in the first three days the game was available. The praise for the game continues to pile up, but the same can't be said for the online portion of the game that recently entered beta. Red Dead Online was flamed by many who participated in the game beta. Problems that gamers had with the online portion came down to the fact that it was shaping up to be a microtransaction bonanza as the many missions gave out incredibly low amounts of money for completion compared to the high cost of weapon upgrades, tents, new weapons, and foodstuffs. One of the biggest complaints was... Read more...
Red Dead Redemption 2 crushed records in its opening weekend setting a record for the highest earnings in entertainment industry history. The game raked $752 million into the coffers over at Rockstar, and that was before the online portion of the game even started. That online portion is called Red Dead Online and has been tipped to get its own battle royale mode called "Make it Count" supporting up to 32 players. The beta for Red Dead Online wrapped up yesterday and there have been some big complaints about the game from beta participants. Beta participants say that the missions and multiplayer mode in the game payout limited amounts of in-game currency, while the purchasable items in the game,... Read more...
Incorporating a battle royale mode seems to be a recipe for success in the online multiplayer space, given the wild popularity of games like Fortnite and, before that, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Red Dead Redemption 2 was one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018, and it launched last month to mostly rave reviews (unlike Fallout 76). While the game has been praised for its single-player campaign, the multiplayer campaign is still a work-in-progress. Luckily, Rockstar is opening up a beta for Read Dead Online starting this week, and you'll be able to join in on all of the fun with players across the globe.
