Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PC was one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming world, and Rockstar Games officially announced the title two weeks ago. Since the announcement, Rockstar has given us some insight into new missions and system requirements when the game lands next month.

Today, Rockstar is gracing us with the first trailer for the PC version of the game, it looks nothing short of gorgeous. While the trailer is only a minute long, it gives us a breathtaking look at the new frontier complete with realistic particle and lighting effects, and even sharper detail that we could have ever imagined for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Oh, and the trailer is rendered in 4K 60 fps glory, which immaculately captures Arthur Morgan's open world.

Red Dead Redemption 2, despite how great it looks in this trailer, doesn't require a beastly machine to run properly. In fact, even its "Recommended" hardware requirements should be achievable by most of our enthusiast readers:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4700K / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
  • Memory: 12GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 480GB
  • HDD: 150GB
  • Sound Card: DirectX compatible
  • OS: Windows 10 - April 2018 Update (v1803)

With that being said, this isn't simply a direct console-to-PC port; it has been enhanced greatly to take advantage of the immensely more powerful that is available on platform -- especially when you have a 4K graphics beast like the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti at your disposal. According got Rockstar, some of those enhancements include:

  • Increased draw distance
  • Higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion
  • Improved snow trails
  • Improved reflections and higher resolution shadows
  • Tessellated tree textures
  • Improved grass and fur textures
  • HDR support
  • Unlocked resolution (4K and higher)
  • Ultrawide aspect ratio and multi-monitor support
  • Unlocked framerate
