Earlier in the week, we reported that Microsoft got the green light from the SEC and European Commission to purchase ZeniMax Media and all the sub-development studios. It seems Microsoft is moving rather quickly on the acquisition as some ZeniMax Media games will be coming to Xbox Game Pass tomorrow. In the coming weeks, Microsoft will reportedly be increasing the prices of its Xbox Live Gold subscription, much to the ire of people everywhere. Microsoft cites no change in price over the years, but customers view this as a way to shove people toward Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription. Whatever the reason, if you are an Xbox gamer, your online access price may go up soon. Over the next month, Xbox Live gamers will be receiving notice that Microsoft will adjust their membership pricing. The one-month subscription is getting a $1 bump to $10.99, and the three-month subscription is getting a $5 a month bump to $29.99. The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S launch is only six weeks away, and so too is the launch of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with EA Play. Xbox Game Pass, with EA Play and Bethesda, is poised to offer many games in their library to stream and download to the new consoles come November 10th. This subscription from Microsoft could prove to be a better financial decision to play new games on the upcoming Xbox consoles. Now, Xbox is pairing up with EA to provide EA Play at no extra cost, thus expanding the offerings of Game Pass Ultimate. EA Play, formerly Origin Access and EA Access, has a wide variety of EA games in its library. With their subscription, you could play titles in series’ such as Battlefield, The Sims, Mass Effect, and more. Microsoft has gone all-in when it comes to the subscription model. It has found success with Office 365 and is even looking to recurring revenue for certain versions of its Windows operating systems.
