PETA recently cried fowl play against Ubisoft’s depiction of a Mortal Kombat style cockfighting mini game within its newest game Far Cry 6. It seemed to ruffle the feathers of PETA Latino, which requested that the developer/publisher remove the mini game. But wait till it sees this. PETA’s pleas did not seem to resonate within the gaming community, however. The consensus among most players seemed to be that it was just a game and that no live animals were being harmed. Some pointed out that there was a large amount of content that was far more violent and graphic than the cockfighting. Cockfighting is still legal in Cuba, by the way, where the game's setting takes place. While the... Read more...
Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 has only been released a couple of days and PETA has already taken offense to one aspect of the game: cockfighting. PETA Latino has released a statement requesting that developer/publisher remove the mini game that allows players to participate in a cockfighting game.. Far Cry 6 has had mostly favorable reviews since launch. However, the mini game which allows players to use roosters to face off against one another in a Mortal Kombat type style has met with mixed impressions even within its own community. Some players find the min game fun and lighthearted, while others find it to be tone deaf to today’s animal rights-centric climate. Alicia Aquayo from PETA’s... Read more...
The raid on this fort is reminiscent of infiltration missions in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag A whole new crop of blockbuster games are lining up for a big holiday shopping season. Ubisoft didn't really intend for that to be the case for Far Cry 6, but early this year the COVID-19 pandemic had other plans. The game had been hit by some delays, but at the end of May the company set a date: October 7, 2021. Finally, the latest Far Cry title has arrived and the open-world first-person shooter is ready for players to take down its repressive government and maybe learn a little something along the way.  Far Cry 6 Is A Political Statement What responsibility do games, or game developers,... It's October 5th, which means Windows 11 is out. Naturally, that's set off a chain reaction of other release both hardware and software. Drivers could reasonably be mentioned in either category, though. Yeah, anyway—there's a new Radeon driver for Windows 11. Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.10.1 is out and has official support for Windows 11. That's not all, though; it also brings up to a 13% performance improvement in Far Cry 6 and 11% uplift in PUBG when playing that game using DirectX 12. Medieval fantasy battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint also gets unspecified official support, as does the open beta for Battlefield 2042. This release should reduce the idle memory clock on Radeon cards with... Read more...
Many games have seen launch dates pushed back during the COVID-19 pandemic and Far Cry 6 was no different. It will be made available on console for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. As for PC, you will be able to find it on Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store, as well as Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. In a recent interview, Ubisoft 3D Team Lead Programmer Stephanie Brenham discusses real-time ray tracing, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), and more now that the game is ready for release. One of the more notable things in the interview is that ray tracing... Read more...

The next installment in the Far Cry series is just over the horizon, launching on October 7th this year. Starring Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian powerhouse actor Giancarlo Esposito as the main antagonist, Far Cry 6 should be quite the game, especially if recently published videos and images are anything to go by. Yesterday, Ubisoft producer and host Youssef Maguid posted the “Rules For Being A Guerilla,” giving us a glimpse into the upcoming Far Cry 6. In Far Cry 6, players will take the role of Dani Rojas, a “native Yaran and military dropout desperately trying to flee their home country.” However, Yara’s oppressive dictator, Antón Castillo (played... There is plenty of incentive to considering building a PC around one of AMD's newly announced Ryzen 5000 series processors, assuming the performance claims prove accurate. But lest anyone needs a nudge, AMD is sweetening the pot with a game bundle, where certain CPU purchases are eligible to receive Far Cry 6 (Standard Edition, digital download). Same goes for some of its Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. The new promotion is mostly devoid of fanfare so far, but is set to go live on October 20 for certain Ryzen 3000 series CPUs, and November 5 for three of its Ryzen 5000 series processors. In both cases, the promotion runs through December 31, 2020, and includes eligible CPUs purchased as standalone chips,... Read more...
As much as I would like to own one, I do not see myself purchasing a flame thrower, now or ever. I imagine it's quite expensive, but aside from that, what if it unlocked an inner pyromaniac I had no idea was itching to get out? Yeah, it's best I don't go down that road. But a replica frame thrower? I'd totally be down for that. If you would be too, you can have one, when preordering the Far Cry 6 Collector's Edition bundle. There are some caveats. Let's start with the obvious—it doesn't actually spit fire (God, I hope not, anyway). The replica flame thrower is decorative piece only. Some assembly is also required. It's also expensive at $199.99, and exclusive to ordering the physical copy... Read more...
Ubisoft held its digital event yesterday called Ubisoft Forward, and at the show, it talked about some very cool video games that are on the horizon from the company. The big games featured at the event included the new free-to-play shooter Hyper Scape, Far Cry 6, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Hyper Scape is already in open beta and Ubisoft is inviting players to join now. Ubisoft announced access to download Hyper Scape for PC players is available in multiple countries now. Along with the announcement of the open beta, developers added a new weapon called the HARPY, which is an SMG-based weapon meant for close-to-mid quarters combat. The game also has a new Shockwave Hack... Read more...
Far Cry 5 landed for PC gamers back in early 2018, and it looks as though its successor, Far Cry 6, is right around the corner. A listing for the game appeared briefly in Hong Kong's version of the Sony PlayStation Store and not only gave us a peek into the plot of the game, but also at one of the main antagonists and box art. One of the biggest reveals is confirmation of early rumors that Giancarlo Esposito will play the primary villain in Far Cry 6. Esposito is known to most people for playing Gus Fring in the absolute masterpiece of a television show known as Breaking Bad. Esposito pulled off the terrifying but cool-under-pressure villain as the "Chicken Man"/meth drug lord, so we have no... Read more...
