Finnish game studio Remedy Entertainment makes some of the finest-looking, quirkiest games around. Perhaps best known for the Max Payne series (but not Max Payne 3, which was developed solely by Rockstar), Remedy has been publishing its games exclusively on Xbox and PC for the last several years. The studio has delivered interesting, story-driven games more recently in the form of cult survival classic Alan Wake and the more recent sci-fi thriller Quantum Break. Both games featured cutting-edge graphics for their respective times. The next installment in the Metro game series is here and for those not familiar, this game franchise is based on author Dmitry Glukhovsky's series of Metro novels that started with Metro 2033 back in 2005. It promises to deliver better performance in games that support it, though many have noticed that images tend to look blurry at lower resolutions when DLSS is turned on. What gives? A few weeks back, at an event just prior to the Gamescom kick-off in Cologne, Germany, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang officially unveiled the company’s initial GeForce RTX 2000 series graphics card line-up, based on its new Turing GPU microarchitecture. This week at Gamescom 2018, NVIDIA held a GeForce Gaming Celebration to unveil its new GeForce RTX 2080 and 2070 series graphics cards, based on its new Turing GPU architecture. The NVIDIA GPU that powers GeForce RTX cards ushers in a wealth of new technologies, enabled by its new processing engines.
