You still have to wait more than four months before Borderlands 3 releases to retail, though Gearbox Software has come up with a clever way of awarding in-game loot starting right now. How so? It requires installing a Twitch extension and watching prominent streamers play during today's Gameplay Reveal Event. "Hundreds of the biggest streamers will be playing and livestreaming Borderlands 3, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be debuting the official Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch extension as part of the experience," Gearbox Software said. To take advantage of this opportunity, you have to link your SHiFT and Twitch accounts, and install the official Borderlands 3 ECHOcast extension.... Read more...
Mayhem is headed to PCs and game consoles in the form of Borderlands 3, the fourth installment in the popular shooter-looter series developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. It lands on September 13, which also happens to be a Friday (yes, Friday the 13th!), and will initially be offered exclusively in the Epic Games store. The exclusive availability is sure to disappoint some gamers, though on the bright side, Borderlands 3 will be more broadly available the following April. That essentially means Epic Games is getting a six-month window as the sole distributor of Borderlands 3, before the game is made available on "additional PC digital storefronts." We presume that means Steam and... Read more...
Borderlands fans were excited when the latest game in the franchise, Borderlands 3, was announced just a few days ago. What some fans aren't so excited about is that the game is rumored to be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Several high profile game publishers are trying to escape the Steam tax that Valve imposes and Fortnite was the first major game to skip the Steam store in favor of the Epic Games Store. Yesterday the Borderlands official Twitter account reportedly posted that said "Mayhem is coming September 13" and later deleted the tweet. Considering yesterday was April Fool's we should all have the salt handy. Other reports claim that a 6-second Borderlands 3 Twiter video ad was floating... Read more...
As was anticipated following a recent teaser trailer, Gearbox Software confirmed at PAX East that Borderlands 3 is coming. The developer also posted a new trailer on YouTube, and rather than a vague teaser, we get to see the dystopian setting in cartoon garb, as we have become accustomed to with the Borderlands franchise. Borderlands 3 looks to stick to the same script, in terms of look and feel. This will be the fourth installment in the series (following Borderlands 1 and 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel), and it features some familiar faces. Lilith from the first Borderlands, for example, is in Borderlands 3. In one scene, we see her without her Siren tattoos as she crawls away from the... Read more...
At the risk of jumping the gun, it sure looks like a Borderlands 3 game is finally coming, and very soon. In a new trailer for "Mask of Mayhem" that was posted to YouTube, Gearbox teases a new Borderlands game, without specifically announcing Borderlands 3. An official unveiling is likely to come tomorrow at Pax East, though, during a livestream. The livestream is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at 2 pm ET (11 am PT). In the description section of the 1m36s trailer, which is titled "Borderlands Teaser Trailer—Mask of Mayhem," Gearbox says, "We aren't done yet!" There is not a lot to parse from the trailer, though from our vantage point, it looks like an entirely new game. We see a bunch... Read more...
Say what you want about Elon Musk, but the dude has a sense of humor. Either that, or Musk knows something about some sort of flammable C.H.U.D. creatures thanks to the folks at The Boring Company. Musk tweeted that The Boring Company flamethrower is real and that it is for sale. You can order one up while supplies lasts for $500 plus tax via The Boring Company website. If you can’t sell your significant other on the need to drop $500 on a flamethrower (it would be the best way ever to light the BBQ this summer), you will have the chance to play with one virtually. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford tweeted at Elon Musk that he wanted to put the flamethrower into the next Borderlands... Read more...
If you’re a fan of the Borderlands franchise, you’ll be happy to know that Borderlands 3 is the next game in the pipeline for developer Gearbox. After leaving development duties to 2K Australia for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, it’s definitely good news to hear that the folks who originated the series are firmly back in the driver’s seat. "We don't even know if we're going to call it [Borderlands 3]. We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know," said Gearbox CEO and President Randy Pitchford while speaking at PAX East 2016 (which our fearless leader Dave Altavilla attended). Plot ideas are currently being tossed around for Borderlands 3, but what’s confirmed is that Gearbox “Chief Creative... Read more...
