We’ve known that gamers will travel the world in the next Call of Duty game but seeing where they will go is quite interesting. This might be the all time jinx, but about the only thing that has not occurred in 2020 so far is a real-life zombie outbreak (knock on wood). Would you really be surprised if it happened at this point, though? Neither would we. Be that as it may, zombies are coming, but to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sometime after it launches next month. This was all but a foregone conclusion, considering the popular game mode has been a staple of the Call of Duty franchise for over a decade. It dates back to Call of Duty: World at War from 2008, followed by the Call of Duty: Zombies spinoff a year later. And as expected, there will be a zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, with Activision... Read more...
As it turns out, the "biggest hack in Call of Duty history," as a now-deleted Twitter account claimed yesterday, did not actually happen, according to a statement issued by Activision. News of the supposed hack spread through social media when a few prominent content creators latched onto the rumor and encouraged their followers to change up their passwords. The rumor was started by @oremyyyt, an account that no longer exists on Twitter. While still active, however, the called attention to the supposed breach, saying they had "never seen in my life a hack this badly on such a large scale. This is 10x worse than the notorious PS3 hack." It was later reported by others that over 500,000 accounts... Read more...
On same level, we all have wounded souls, in one way or another. Only most of us do not get a cinematic trailer that revolves around these injuries. Not so for Uther the Lightbringer, who is featured in Activision-Blizzard's new World of Warcraft: Shadowlands Afterlives: Bastion cinematic trailer, which lasts nearly seven minutes long. And even if you are not a fan of WoW, you may still find it gripping. Shadowlands is an upcoming expansion pack for WoW, and it will thrust players into the realm of the dead. The eight expansion pack in the long running MMORPG will also introduce the game's first level reduction—the level cap is being reduced to 60, and players who are at the current level... Read more...
In case you missed it, Activision dropped the first cinematic trailer for its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War game, which is a direct sequel to the original Black Ops title. It looks intriguing, to the say the least. If you want to get early access the open beta, one way to do that is pre-order the game (any edition). But there is another way that will not cost you a dime. Activision is handing out 10,000 beta keys to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War this weekend, on a randomly selected basis. The giveaway is to promote the first Call of Duty League championship, which is scheduled to being on Sunday, August 30 at 4:00 pm ET (1:00 pm PT). There are other events that precede the championship,... Read more...
Ronald Reagan is president, tensions with the Soviet Union are uncomfortably high, and the global population at large is threatened by the reality that a nuclear war could break out at any moment. The world has already lived through this scenario, and it is happening once again, though thankfully this time it is just the setting for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which launches in a few months. Raven Software is working on the game's immersive single-player campaign, while Treyarch is handling the multiplayer experience. Ahead of the game's release, publisher Activision shared the first cinematic trailer, and it is certainly gripping. Have a look (you can watch in up to 4K)... "Taking place... Read more...
This past week has been full of video game updates and Call of Duty is no exception. Infinity Ward just dropped the Season Four Reloaded update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone which includes new contracts, weapons, and has temporarily increased the number of players in Warzone. Update Size and Requirements The update is between 22-36GB in size for Modern Warfare owners. Console players will also need to install an additional 3.5GB update and then reboot their system. Warzone players will need to download an update that is between 22GB-30GB. Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward have figured out a surefire way to rile up gamers—push out a game update that checks in at a whopping 84 gigabytes. Actually, it is closer to 85GB, but even rounding down does little quell the rising tide of criticism over massive game updates, a category this one punches into like the Kool-Aid character smashing through a wall. To the credit of Infinity Ward, the developer offered a heads up that the update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone would be "large." That may have been underselling it a bit, but at least the sizeable download did not come completely out of left field. "The Season 4 download is going to be large. In order... Read more...
Some fans of Call of Duty got a chance to see alleged pre-alpha footage of the new series entry for 2020 thanks to a Twitter leak. The original tweet had a video with nearly 2 minutes of alleged footage from the new game, which is rumored to be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. That tweet has since been deleted, but Walshburg promises there are more leaks to come. The final game will likely look very different from what was seen in the leak, assuming the footage is real, since it was pre-alpha. The video was said to be surprisingly rough, making it hard to get a good sense of the game. However, the footage is believed to be real and was said to look like a Call of Duty game. Call of Duty:... Read more...
Call of Duty: Warzone players will be thrilled to hear that the highly anticipated Battle Royale Duos has arrived to the game. Players can now match up with a partner and drop into Verdansk using Battle Royale rules. Players can pair up with a friend or can be matched up with a random player. The goal of Duos is for the pair of operatives to outlast all of the other teams in the match. During the action, if one of a duo goes down, their partner can revive them before they bleed out and lose their loadout. Reviving them will prevent the downed player from being taken to the Gulag where they have to fight one on one to earn the right to return to the game. A downed Call of Duty Warzone... Read more...
It looks like the next Call of Duty game will take a step back in history. As is now tradition, the next game’s name has already leaked. It was recently revealed that the upcoming game will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Leaker “Okami” posted what appears to be the cover art of the next Call of Duty game on Twitter. Activision has yet to confirm the title, but other sources have contended that the leak is true. The game will likely be released this autumn and will hopefully be formally announced within the next month or so. The Cold War theme has also been teased in Call of Duty: Warzone. Locked bunkers have appeared in the game and players can now access them... Read more...
Activision has begun rolling out a new patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, and with it comes a bunch of new features and bug fixes. Normally those sort of things would be embraced. But on the other side of the coin, the sheer size of Activision's patches are the cause of consternation among some gamers. Modern Warfare already takes up a sizeable chunk of storage space—over 100GB on PCs and consoles. A patch delivered last month checked at 15GB, which drew some eyebrows, while the latest version 1.21 update is up to twice as big, depending on the platform. It is around 20GB on the PlayStation 4, and around 30GB on the Xbox One and PC. After applying the patch,... Read more...
Activision-Blizzard is keeping itself busy developing a bunch of games, one of which might be a remake of Diablo II, the classic hack-and-slash RPG that came out nearly two decades ago. It is said Blizzard is calling it Diablo II Resurrected. According to the report, Blizzard is aiming to launch Diablo II Ressurected sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. While nothing has been announced, French news site Actugaming seems to think it is happening for sure, saying "sources close" to Blizzard mentioned the project several times. The sources told the site that Vicarious Visions is making the game (Activision acquired the studio four years ago, which went on to create Destiny 2 in 2017). Not... Read more...

Players who cheat are the scourge of online gaming, and it is an ongoing problem in popular titles. Suspensions and permanent bans are the tools of the trade for developers and publishers who seek to keep the issue at bay, though Infinity Ward and Activision have another idea—players suspected of cheating in Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be matched up together. This is in line with Activision's "zero tolerance" policy towards cheating. At the beginning of the month, the publisher announced it had dropped the ban hammer on 50,000 cheaters in Warzone alone, and promised to provide updated stats as time went on. The most recent update came on April 13, in which... Read more...

One of the video games that prominently features the Humvee is Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Activision was sued by AM General over alleged trademark infringement for using the Humvee in its games. This week a federal judge ruled in favor of Activision and the company's argument that it had a First Amendment right to depict contemporary warfare in its game by featuring the Humvee. The judge overseeing the case was US District Court Judge George B. Daniels granted summary judgment in favor of... Read more...
Let us all take a moment of silence for the tens of thousands of cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone, who publisher Activision has permanently banned since the battle royale mode launched earlier this month. Just kidding, go ahead and celebrate—pump your fist in the air, high five your cat, or do whatever makes you feel happy. But don't cheat, because cheaters suck. Activision agrees, and is coming down hard with a "zero tolerance" policy. Since launching Warzone, Activision says it has dropped the ban hammer on more than 50,000 players worldwide, and we are sure that number will grow as time goes on. "We take all forms of cheating very seriously, maintaining a level and fair playing field... Read more...
We think it’s fair to say that Activision has a winner on its hands with Call of Duty: Warzone. The standalone battle royale game launched two weeks ago to much fanfare and has been well received by gamers (and the gaming press). With popular, free-to-play mechanics and good worth-of-mouth buzz, Activision-Blizzard is now claiming that Warzone has hit 30 million active players in less than two weeks. To put that figure into perspective, when Apex Legends launched back in 2019, it racked up 25 million players in a week. However, Warzone has one big thing going for it when it comes to its stellar player numbers: COVID-19 (coronavirus).  Over 30 million of you have dropped... Read more...

The game is similar to other battle royale games, but there are distinct differences that set it apart. Here is the information you need to know to survive, thrive, and dominate in Call of Duty: Warzone. First and foremost, Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale video game. It is a free update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players, but it can also be accessed for free by anyone with a Playstation 4, Xbox One, or PC. The game features two modes- Plunder and Battle Royale. Battle Royale players will need to survive until the end of their match, while Plunder players are expected... Read more...
