Battery Performance: Mobile Mark 2002
|
We are using the standard benchmark settings from Bapco, along with a few other minor system tweaks. The screensaver was disabled and the volume was set at approximately 20%.
MobileMark 2002 utilizes the following applications:
- Microsoft Word 2002
- Microsoft Excel 2002
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
- Microsoft Outlook 2002
- Netscape Communicator 6.0
- McAfee VirusScan 5.13
- Adobe Photoshop 6.0.1
- Macromedia Flash 5
- WinZip 8.0
MobileMark 2000 is a fantastic application for assessing battery performance and life. MobileMark is run independent of a power adapter until the battery reaches 1% at which time it shuts down. Lenovo's 6 cell 10.8V 5.2AH battery managed to squeeze out a relatively decent score in the performance area. In other words, it was able to perform better per the time scale as opposed to the next best on the chart.
In the battery life category it did not fair as well which probably had to do with its 6 cell design. Lenovo does offer a 9 cell option which would increase battery life by approximately 33% as well as another 3 cell Ultrabay option. Unfortunately, we did not have those options to test with, but we can speculate that they would significantly increase battery life.
