October has come and gone, and we are now nearly a week into November, the month known for family, turkey dinner, and fist fights over toys and electronics on Black Friday. Target is talking up its Black Friday deals and giving shoppers plenty of time to figure out if they want to fight the crowds for some bargains. Deals are available on everything from game consoles to TVs and more. One of the key deals that Target will be offering on Black Friday is a Nintendo Switch game console for $299.99 that includes a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Target has the version with gray, but it says that the neon version will be offered as well. There is no rain check on the deal, and quantities are limited.... Read more...

We’re well into the Christmas shopping season, which means that retailers are throwing all kinds of discount at popular tech gear to boost sales. While robust discounts on Apple hardware like iPhones isn’t typical, the “standard” iPad is regularly on sale. The base iPad has an MSRP of $329 and can typically be had on sale for around $300. However, both Target and Amazon are currently selling the tablet for $80 off, making it just $249. This matches the short-lived Black Friday discounts from last month and represents the lowest price we’ve seen for the iPad. The $249 pricing is available for two of the three available colors for the iPad –... Read more...
Black Friday and Cyber Monday may have come and gone, but if you are still on the hunt for deals on console video games, Target has one for you. Target is offering Battlefield V on the PS4 and the Xbox One platforms for $29.99, which is a huge 50% discount off the regular $59.99 retail price. It's unusual to see a major AAA title like this discounted so heavily only two weeks post-launch. Battlefield V takes the franchise back to its WWII roots and introduces women in combat. That move angered some delicate Battlefield fans who cried foul, claiming it wrecked the historical accuracy of the game. Shortly after the announcement of the game featuring women in combat, the game developers stepped... Read more...

Earlier today, we brought you info on Kohl's upcoming Black Friday deals, and now it's Target's turn. The retail giant has posted its Black Friday ad and there are plenty of deals to be had on tech that is sure to be in high demand this holiday shopping season. One of the biggest deals -- and unfortunately will be an in-store only deal -- is on an Element 55-inch Smart 4K TV. The big-screen television normally retails for $379, but will be on sale for a low $199. Element is typically known for lingering in the lower-tier of budget televisions, but at $200 it'd be hard to pass up on this TV if you don't mind fighting crowds outside (and inside) your local Target store. If you're looking for... Read more...

Today marks Nintendo's launch of the highly anticipated SNES Classic Edition, which interestingly has the same hardware inside as the NES Classic Edition that came before it. This scaled down console brings 21 retro video games that many gamers grew up on and crams them into one package with no need to sling cartridges like back in the day. Nintendo has promised higher production levels of the SNES classic than the previous retro NES offering that was so hard to find. More production doesn't necessarily mean that the new console will be easy to find. We are going to run down all the places you can get one (or at least try to get one) today. Note that just about every electronics retailer out... Read more...
If you pre-ordered an SNES Classic game console from Walmart last week, your order may have been cancelled. There have been a lot of rumors flying around out there about why exactly the orders were cancelled. According to comments over at Nowinstock, multiple pre-order buyers are confirming their orders were cancelled. Reports indicate that the cancellations weren't because Walmart oversold their SNES Classic allotment. That is good news in a way, because it means those of you with cancelled orders still have a chance. The reason your order was cancelled wasn't due to a payment issue either. Orders were cancelled because the person in charge of the "Go" button over at Walmart pressed... Read more...
Nintendo is hyping up the impending release of its Super NES Classic Edition console, though this is the kind of thing that sells itself these days. Nostalgic gamers and scalpers looking to make a quick buck have already depleted Walmart of its initial inventory of pre-order units, and you can bet that other retailers will sell out of the console in the blink of an eye as well. Nevertheless, if you to give yourself a fighting shot, follow Target on Twitter (@AskTarget) to be one of the first to know when the retailer have stock available for pre-order. Target confirmed in a Twitter post that it too will accepting pre-orders for the Super NES Classic Edition console. The retailer did not say when,... Read more...
A new flagship smartphone from Samsung is an exciting thing in and of itself. However, it looks like Samsung's retail partners will have some nifty promotions tied to the South Korean handset maker's upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ launch. Target, for example, is going to offer a $100 gift card and a free Samsung Gear VR headset to anyone who pre-orders one of Samsung's upcoming flagships. The promotion appears in a leaked ad preview from Target's weekly catalog covering deals valid from April 2 to April 8. Unfortunately, the original source was asked by (and complied with) Target to remove the ad scan, but as we often say, there are no mulligans on the Internet. Here is the relevant part of... This might come as a surprise to, well, absolutely no one, Nintendo appears to be dealing with a shortage of its new hybrid Switch console almost a full month before it even releases to retail. Anticipated supply is so far behind demand that reports are surfacing of major retailers cancelling pre-orders. Among them are Target and GameStop, though the latter has since issued a statement denying that's the case. "GameStop has not, and is not, cancelling any Nintendo Switch pre-orders due to allocation issues. We are working very closely to confirm and validate any and all pre-orders of this innovative gaming system. Should any customer who pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch console from GameStop experience... For those that were able to get in early enough, there was the Pip-Boy Edition of Fallout 4 which includes a metal encased version of game, a capsule case, a Robco Industries stand, and a wearable Pip-Boy. And for those outside of the United States, there’s Fallout beer courtesy of Carlsberg UK. Silicon Valley is getting a visit from President Barack Obama today, where he will sign an executive order to promote cooperation between the government and tech companies in the fight against large-scale data theft. The order will create Information Sharing and Analysis Organizations (ISAOs), which would work with the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the sorts of mass security breaches that have rocked Anthem, Sony, Target, and others. The groups will share information about hackers in the hopes that they can better prepare to defend against attacks with the shared data. Target, Home Depot, Sears, and Kmart have all come under attack in the past year, with hackers breaching their insufficiently protected internal networks to obtain customer credit card data. The Home Depot breach was the largest, with 53 million email addresses and 56 million customer credit and debit card compromised. Thanks to Brian Krebs of KrebsonSecurity, we’re now learning that yet another retailer has had its credit card data compromised: Bebe Stores Inc. The chain caters to women and has 200 stores nationwide. Krebs is a little light on the details of the hack, but says that he began receiving information from various banks that customer credit cards that had been recently used at Bebe... Read more...
As Target, Home Depot, and JP Morgan Chase have recently discovered, cyber attacks are tough to fend off, and extremely costly. Enter Tom Ridge, the former Secretary of Homeland Security, with a new insurance product aimed at businesses worried about the financial devastation a successful hacker can wreak. Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge Ridge Insurance is offering cyber crime insurance policies of $50 million to small and medium-sized businesses. A typical policy may cover both the financial damage done (like damage caused by the hit to a company’s reputation) and the expense involved in cleaning up the mess from a cyber attack, like alerting customers. Ridge Insurance... Read more...
Attention Home Depot shoppers, your credit and/or debit card information may be compromised. The hardware chain confirmed that a recent cyber attack is estimated to have put the payment card information of around 56 million unique credit and debit cards at risk due to malware that it suspects has been present between April and September 2014. That makes it a bigger breach than the one that hit Target earlier this year. "We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and anxiety this has caused, and want to reassure them that they will not be liable for fraudulent charges," said Frank Blake, chairman and CEO. "From the time this investigation began, our guiding principle has been to put our... Read more...
Life certainly has become complicated ever since we stopped bartering goods and services with our neighbors in favor of using cash and credit. Think you're safe to go shopping with your debit card at a major retailer? You'd be mistaken -- according to an advisory put out by the Department of Homeland Security, over 1,000 American businesses have been infected by a cash register malware intended to steal your personal information. The Point of Sale (PoS) malware is called "Backoff" and so far it's given remote attackers the ability to harvest data from millions of credit and debit cards from consumers without the companies knowing of its existence. At first, Backoff was thought to have only affected... Read more...
