Yesterday, Microsoft unloaded a bevy of updates to its Surface family including the refreshed Surface Pro 7, the Surface Laptop 3 (with a new 15-inch variant), and the all-new Surface Pro X. The company also gave us a glimpse at two products that will launch in 2020: the Surface Neo and the Surface Duo. We were able to get hands on the former three products and have some images that we'd like to share of them all below. At the same time, we'll give you a quick overview of what each has to offer. Surface Pro 7 This is largely a minor refresh to the Surface Pro 6 that launched last year. It features the same chassis design as its predecessor, with the exception of a USB-C port that has been added... Read more...
Microsoft held its yearly Surface event today in New York City, and the company is living up to the hype that has been building leaving up to the big unveil. There have been plenty of rumors swirling around the devices, and those reports have largely turned out to be accurate as we're staring at the Surface Laptop 3. The Surface Laptop 3 is available in two screen sizes: 13-inches and 15-inches (as previously reported). This is the first time that the larger 15-inch form-factor has been available for the Surface Laptop product line, and gives users who want a bit more screen real estate a new alternative.  Under the hood, it has been confirmed that the 13-inch model is using quad-core... Here it is folks; the bulk of the Surface hardware that we're expecting Microsoft to announce on at its event on Wednesday. Thanks to multiple tweets from gadget leaker Evan Blass, we have a look at the 13- and 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 along with the Surface Pro 7 and the new ARM-powered Surface. Starting off with the Surface Laptop 3, as previously reported, the laptop will be available in both 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes. Blass posted renders of both, which share a common design language. One noted difference compared to the previous Surface Laptop 2 is that there is no Alcantara fabric covering the keyboard deck (which was also alluded to last week).  Surface Laptop 3 (15-inch)... Microsoft is planning to unveil new hardware during a special event scheduled for this Wednesday, October 2, in New York City. The company is promising "new and innovative things," though has stopped way short of offering up any specific details—just a handful of teasers on social media to whet our appetite. So, what can we expect? The easy answer is, new hardware! That much is obvious—this is a hardware event, after all. Fortunately, though, we are not completely in the dark. There have been several product rumors over the past several weeks, and even months, which may provide some clues as to what Microsoft is planning to unveil later this week. Surface Pro 7 To Flex Its ARM A Surface... Read more...
Microsoft's big yearly Surface event is less than a week away and the company is expected to broadly refresh its PC hardware lineup. Two of the devices that are scheduled to be announced include the Surface Pro 7 and the Surface Laptop 3. According to a new report coming out of France, the Surface Pro 7 is expected to see the biggest year-over-year change. Frandroid says that its internal sources claim that the device will feature a nearly borderless display along with a more modern design. We're not exactly sure what that means as the design formula for the Surface Pro family has stayed pretty much intact since its inception with angular looks and a somewhat industrial design. Perhaps... Read more...
Microsoft has an event set for Octoberwhere it is set to unveil a new (or thoroughly refreshed) family of Surface computing hardware. The company sent out invites late last month for the event, and now Surface Chief Panos Panay is hyping up the big reveal on Twitter. According to sources for The Verge, the event will be more than just about hardware, and will also focus on new experiences. We have the feeling that this is in reference to Windows Lite, which is a cut-down version of Windows 10 that will be going head-to-head with Google's Chrome OS.  This October 2nd we're showing the world what's next for Surface & Microsoft...and we're doing it live. Tune in at https://t.co/gL1bQ1Wmas... Read more...
When it comes to connectivity, Microsoft has been a bit slow on the uptake with regards to the USB-C interface. While the company did capitulate by adding USB-C to the entry-level Surface Go convertible, the company's higher-end Surface Pro 6, Surface Book and Surface Laptop have yet to embrace the popular port. That could change, however, with the Surface Pro 7 thanks to a new patent filing. The patent shows the inclusion of a USB-C port on the side of the device to complement the existing DisplayPort and USB-A interfaces. In essence, Microsoft is giving customers the best of both worlds; something that we feel it should have done years ago. Interestingly, there doesn't appear... Read more...
