Sony made waves in the consumer audio market with its WH-1000XM3 headphones, and now the same (presumably) noise-cancelling technology that helped the headset garner so many accolades is offered in a new set of wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM3. If that is indeed the case, these earbuds could give Apple's AirPods a run for their money. The WF-1000XM3 is available to preorder on Amazon for $229.99, and will be released on August 5, 2019. A charging case is included, so the pricing has the earbuds sitting just above the current generation AirPods, which Amazon sells for $179.99 (the MSRP is $179.99). However, Apple is rumored to be refreshing its AirPods, and pricing could conceivably be higher.... Read more...
Apple’s AirPods wireless earphones are popular with lots of Apple fans, but the problem is that they are quite expensive. Xiaomi has unveiled a set of earbuds that look very similar to the Apple AirPods but are much cheaper. They are called the Xiaomi Mi AirDots Youth Edition, are completely wireless, and include a charging case. The AirDots weigh in at 4.2 grams making them extremely lightweight contributing to comfort when in the ears. The speakers inside the small earphones are 7.2mm units and promise to produce deep bass and high-quality audio. Xiaomi also designed the AirDots Youth Edition with an external touch zone on the outside of the earbuds for controlling a smartphone. That... Read more...
If you were to drill a thousand holes into the roof of your home during a rainstorm, it still wouldn't leak as much as the OnePlus 6T, the worst kept secret on the web. It seems like every day there is a new leak pertaining to the unreleased device. So, it's no surprise that this week is shaping up any different. The latest rumor making the rounds is that OnePlus will bundle in a set of USB-C earbuds with the OnePlus 6T. That might not seem like a big thing, though it's notable because previously it was assumed they would sell separately. However, OnePlus may be extending an olive branch to users who are miffed at reports that the OnePlus 6T is ditching the trusty old 3.5mm audio jack, a decision... Read more...
One of the most popular set of earphones on Amazon is available for a measly $18 today, after using a coupon code. It's the AUKEY Latitude Wireless Headphones with three EQ sound modes, a sweat-resistant nano coating so you can run and workout without ruining them, and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. While normally priced at a very reasonable $26, applying coupon code L6MWTC6C at checkout knocks them down to $18. There is quite a bit of value here for an inexpensive set of earbuds. Rather than take a one-size-fits-all approach, AUKEY includes three sizes of ear-tips and in-ear ear-hooks for a customized, firm fit with noise isolation. It also comes with a USB cable for charging and a carrying pouch,... Read more...
A big challenge for people who travel abroad is one of communication. Many people only speak one language making it hard to communicate when you break free from your own country (and comfort zone). One of the coolest features of the newly announced Google Pixel Buds is that they can translate 40 languages on-the-fly. Such juggling of language between people typically requires professional translators. Pixel Buds have the Google Translate software built right in and promise to translate languages just as if they are spoken in your native tongue. With a pair of earbuds selling for $159, should professional translators be worried? Business Insider asked that question to some professional translators,... Read more...
Rumor has it Apple is abandoning the standard 3.5mm headphone jack on its next iPhone models, presumably the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. In its place Apple reportedly plans to bundle a set of earphones that will plug into the iPhone 7's Lightening port called EarPods. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, Apple might also offer a set of Bluetooth headphones.Keeping in mind that nothing is yet official, there's suspicion that Apple may have used a shell company called Entertainment in Flight LLC to apply for the "AirPods" trademark several months ago. That would be a fitting name for a pair of wireless earbuds, one that will likely be sold separately rather than bundled with the iPhone 7.Tired of... Read more...
While Apple takes its time deciding how best to leverage its $3 billion acquisition of the Beats brand, Dr. Dre and company continue to grow the company's family of wireless products, including the launch of the Solo2 Wireless, the first set of headphones from Beats in the Apple-owned era and just in time for the holiday shopping season. "We’re taking the most popular headphone in the world and adding wireless Bluetooth functionality to it," said Beats President Luke Wood. "The Solo2 is already a world-class headphone much lauded for its acoustics, and now it joins our growing family of successful wireless products." Beats claims the Solo2 Wireless can move freely up to 30 feet from your... Read more...
NAMM 2011 is getting starting this week in Southern California, and Shure is one of the first out of the gate with new gear. The SE215 sound-isolating earphone has been introduced, featuring a new Dynamic MicroDriver and a detachable cable. These are pro earbuds that join the SE315, SE425 and SE535 at the top of the company's tanks, and they'll be available in clear or translucent black. Shure has designed these for use in live performances, and for audiophiles who aren't interested in missing a beat (or a note). There's even a Kevlar-reinforced cable that can be replaced or customized, and it ships with three pairs of disposable black foam sleeves, three pairs of soft flex sleeves and a carrying... Headphones just aren't what they used to be. Back in the day, whatever earbuds came bundled with whatever MP3 player you purchased were considered "good enough," but these days, any self-respecting audio player owner doesn't even unwrap the factory headphones. Instead, they head straight for the accessory department, where more and more high-end alternatives are finding themselves parked.Monster had a set of $300 in-ear headphones hit the market late last year, and now Ultimate Ears has a resounding pair of its own ready to wow those with enough cash to plunk down on them. If you'll recall, UE is now actually a part of Logitech, which knows a thing or two about marketing PC peripherals. The Ultimate... Read more...
While we're always a tad skeptical when some company selects a flavor-of-the-week artist to endorse its products, we're doubly so when a company selects two artists to endorse its products. Take Monster, for example, which is probably best known for charging insane prices for cabling in big box retailers and somehow convincing consumers that their copper wiring is superior.Monster, alongside the famous Dr. Dre and the increasingly famous Lady Gaga, has this week decided to push out a new set of headphones. The device falls into the Beats By Dr. Dre product line, and the name--Heartbeats by Lady Gaga--brings a chuckle at first glance. As expected, these earphones mesh style and sound to produce... Good morning friends, welcome back to HotHardware.  I am pretty short on time this morning, so we are going to cut the chit-chat to a minimum.  However, this does not mean we are going to skimp on the news... ;)  Corsair TWIN2X1024-5400C4PRO @ Viper Lair "Corsair has earned a reputation as makers of fast and reliable ram, and this tradition continues from past ram formats and into DDR-2. While not earth shattering, performance-wise today, DDR-2 is forward thinking as Intel scales their clock speeds, and the TWIN2X Pro Series is up to the task."  Etymotic ER-6 Isolator Earphones Review @ CoolTechZone "Audiophiles want not only the best speaker sets, but also...
