The Radeon X800 XL has been a very successful GPU for ATI. The X800 XL has been widely available for quite some time, it's built using a .11 micron process that make it a cost effective part for ATI to produce, and retail cards based on the X800 XL GPU offer very good performance for the price. 256MB variants of the X800 XL have also been available for under $250, which made them quite popular with both gamers and the overclocking crowd. The Radeon X800 XL's excellent price / performance ratio was undeniable. But then, back in June, ATI launched a 512MB version of the Radeon X800 XL. 512MB cards offered better performance in some applications and when running at high resolutions with anti-aliasing... Over the years, ATI's All-In-Wonder series of video cards have been the card of choice for those looking for a complete 3D Graphics card/TV-Tuner hybrid.  With little competition and a consistent release schedule of new models, ATI sits atop the all-in-one food chain, with the most popular option available. We shouldn't ignore the fact that NVIDIA does offer their Personal Cinema line, but the most current model is based on the GeForce FX series of GPUs, which are AGP only and way behind on the performance curve.  Additionally, the software package for the Personal Cinema is adequate, but doesn't quite match up to ATI's mature Multimedia Center software.  Multimedia Center 9 integrates... PowerColor X800 GT Xtreme Edition Review @ The Tech Zone: "Power for the X800 GT Xtreme is provided by ATI's R480 chipset running at 500MHz. This is 25MHz faster than the standard X800 GT. The Xtreme achieves this higher core speed with a better cooling solution. The normal X800 GT use 256 Meg of 2ns GDDR3 memory running at 980MHz. The Xtreme version use 1.6ns memory running at 1050MHz. All together, it adds up to a faster video card for just a few dollars more." HTPC Primer, Part II @ Bigbruin.com: "In the first of a two-part series of Tech Tips on getting started with a Home Theater PC, or HTPC, we looked at the two most basic features to be considered: audio and video. Hey folks, the news is moving a bit slow, but it's still moving. AMD Zone has updated their Quake 4 benchmarks to include some numbers using two Radeon X850XT PE cards(Crossfire). On a more depressing note, Baseball season is now over, ended by a 4 game sweep of the Houston Astros by the Chicago White Sox. Two Sox in two years. It's the most generic thing to say, but I'll say it... there's always next year. Well folks, I'm out. Goodnight! ATI's Radeon X1800 XT Breaks 1 GHz Speed Barrier Finnish over-clockers make world GPU history PORI, FINLAND - October 26, 2005 - An independent team of Finnish over-clockers has made world history by over-clocking a graphics processor to engine clock levels... Hey folks! The long awaited horror FPS, F.E.A.R., will be released to the masses very shortly. Reviews should be flooding the net soon, and we'll be sure to bring you a couple. Enjoy the news, goodnight folks! MSI Theater 550PRO @ Viperlair | HH Perspective "For the cool price of $74 USD, the MSI Theater 550PRO is a pretty good value when compared to many other TV Tuners, including ATI's own TV Wonder Elite which goes for almost double the price. Considering there isn't much difference between the two in terms of software bundles and hardware, we'd lean towards MSI's version of the card if you're in the need of a tuner for your HTPC box." All-In-Wonder ATI X800XT @ Got|Apex? "The... Read more...

Hey folks, it's pretty late but the news just doesn't stop :) It's not exactly computer hardware, but Nintendo has revealed their design for Revolution's controller. At first I was a little disappointed, but after thinking about how it could change the way games are played, I'm actually excited about it. There are only so many different genres you can invent, only so many different story lines you can write... really, there are only so many ideas. However, changing the way a game is played is something that hasn't really been attempted before, certainly not on this scale. It could be the next big thing, or it may just be a dud, but you have to give them credit for trying to bring something new... Read more...
