Hey folks, the news is moving a bit slow, but it's still moving. AMD Zone has updated their Quake 4 benchmarks to include some numbers using two Radeon X850XT PE cards(Crossfire). On a more depressing note, Baseball season is now over, ended by a 4 game sweep of the Houston Astros by the Chicago White Sox. Two Sox in two years. It's the most generic thing to say, but I'll say it... there's always next year. Well folks, I'm out. Goodnight! Hey folks! The long awaited horror FPS, F.E.A.R., will be released to the masses very shortly. Reviews should be flooding the net soon, and we'll be sure to bring you a couple. Enjoy the news, goodnight folks! MSI Theater 550PRO @ Viperlair | HH Perspective "For the cool price of $74 USD, the MSI Theater 550PRO is a pretty good value when compared to many other TV Tuners, including ATI's own TV Wonder Elite which goes for almost double the price. Considering there isn't much difference between the two in terms of software bundles and hardware, we'd lean towards MSI's version of the card if you're in the need of a tuner for your HTPC box." Hey folks, it's pretty late but the news just doesn't stop :) It's not exactly computer hardware, but Nintendo has revealed their design for Revolution's controller. At first I was a little disappointed, but after thinking about how it could change the way games are played, I'm actually excited about it. There are only so many different genres you can invent, only so many different story lines you can write... really, there are only so many ideas. However, changing the way a game is played is something that hasn't really been attempted before, certainly not on this scale. It could be the next big thing, or it may just be a dud, but you have to give them credit for trying to bring something new... Read more...

Hey everyone. Well I finally got a chance to give the F.E.A.R. demo a run... it's all right. The game it's self, while not being anything we haven't seen before(except for the creepy little girl), seems to promise some intense action and killer graphics. However the demo seemed to need a little more polish, and unfortunately I am one of the ones who are experiencing horrible stuttering. If Monolith can iron out that issue and the other bugs that are found in the demo, we'll be in for a real treat later on this year. Oh, and speaking of the demo, Mr. Ghazi from TweakGuides has put out a quick guide for your tweaking pleasure. Now, on with the news. HP/Compaq TC4200 Tablet PC "As far as any... Read more...

When it comes to hard drives; more speed, more capacity, and more cache memory is always a good thing. This is the first drive to come across our test bench with SATA300 speed, and it provides the largest capacity (500GB) and most cache memory (16MB) that we have seen to date. Today, we're going to take a look at the Sapphire Radeon X850 Pro PCI Express Graphics Card.  The X850 Pro follows ATI's reference design closely, sporting 12-Pixel Pipelines and 256MB of GDDR3 memory.  Based on the R480, the X850 Pro offers several advantages over the R423, the core driving the X800 series.  Like the R423, the R480 is built on a 130nm manufacturing process, but with a refined core that has been reworked for lower power requirements and higher yields.  Aside from that, the R480's base design is not all that different from its predecessor. The Radeon X850 Pro 256MB from Sapphire aims to bring the features of the X850 to the mid-range consumer, offering a solid... Read more...

Over the past few months, the ATI Radeon X800XL has built up a reputation for being one of the best buys in high-end PC graphics. A single-slot card, that's got relatively low power requirements, street prices hovering around $275 (give or take a few bucks) and performance that rivals flagship cards from both ATI and NVIDIA, is sure to please a large audience of potential buyers. Yet ATI still had another trick up their collective sleeves. Their line-up of Radeon X800XL cards got a new addition last month, in the form of a 512MB version of the card. The Radeon X800XL 512MB card has essentially the exact same specifications as the standard 256MB X800XL, but with double the amount of on-board memory. ... Read more...

The only apparent way for Apple to achieve that is... Read more...
As the old saying goes, "It's better to burn out than to fade away".  This holds true when we think about AGP graphics cards.  While PCI-Express has certainly gained a lot of ground, AGP is not ready to die just yet.  Virtually any video card manufacturer you look at is still offering AGP based graphics solutions, even in the high-end sector.  Surely, the day PCI-Express completely eclipses AGP isn't too far off, as the bandwidth and power benefits of PCI-Express are very real.  Nonetheless, new AGP offerings continue to hit store shelves.  The latest such offerings to reach our test bench are from HIS in the form of their X850XT IceQII Turbo VIVO 256MB...
