Next Generation Gaming Performance Analysis - A Doom 3 and Counter Strike Source Drag Race
If we consider the "CPUBoss1" map demo we created the least graphically challenging time demo in our analysis here, then it would be safe to say that the "Hell" map custom demo is... well, "hell" on graphics cards, at least at high res with additional pixel processing turned on.

The numbers clock in at a 10 and 18% lead respectively, for the GeForce 6800 Ultra. Again, this is not as wide of a spread as we saw in the multiplayer demo run.
At high res, the lead is slightly extended for the GeForce 6800 Ultra, with a 20% advantage posted for the NVIDIA card in both 1600X1200 resolution tests. This concludes our Doom 3 testing for now. In summary, the one take-away we garnered from our benchmark analysis, was that when lots of character animation is being displayed, the Radeon X800 XT PE didn't fall behind the GeForce 6800 Ultra nearly as much. However, in areas where things are relatively quiet (our 5 person deathmatch recording for example) and lighting processing is the main element contributing to the work-load, the GeForce 6800 Ultra pulled far ahead. Regardless, both cards handle the graphics processing requirements of Doom 3 with relative ease and look fantastic while doing it.
