Yesterday, Nov. 17 was National Unfriend Day (NUD). The brainchild of Jimmy Kimmel, the day is supposed to a day when you unfriend the faux friends you have on Facebook (or any other social networking site). Kimmel gave us some guidelines to use to determine who to unfriend on National Unfriend Day. They were: If you wouldn’t loan someone 50 dollars, unfriend them. If you wouldn’t invite them to your birthday party, unfriend them. If you wouldn’t cry if they got hit by a bus, unfriend them. How many faux friends have you unfriended today? Delta Air Lines and Alvenda are teaming up to give users the ability to book flights with friends directly on Facebook. Touted as the travel industry’s first ecommerce capability on Facebook, this initial release of Delta's Ticket Window lets users book a flight and share arrival times with their Facebook friends directly from the confirmation page. “Our cus­tomers are spend­ing more time online and are look­ing for new ways to con­nect with us. When you think about the market for a pre-built, proverbial "Killer Gaming Rig," you have to consider the class of consumer that would have interest in this type of system. For the most part, the average do-it-yourselfer isn't going to take much interest here, save for perhaps the appreciation of all the bleeding-edge technology and design quality that is the hallmark of such a system.  That said, there is obviously a significant market opportunity for consumers that want top-of-the line components and build quality for enthusiast-class gaming performance and head-turning aesthetics, without the hassle of going at it the home-grown way.  Dell obviously saw this market opportunity... Hey, Twitter -- you know that business model you've been searching for? Yeah, this may be it. In a new report from NYTimes' 'Bits' blog, Dell has admitted to generating around $3 million in sales that could be directly attributed to Twitter. $3 million! That's the amount that Dell has garnered since it began using Twitter in 2007, using its account to serve up delectable coupons and to spread the word on deals and new products. In the last six months alone, Dell's 'Outlet' store earned a cool million dollars in sales in customers that linked in through Twitter, and just to put things in comparison, it took a whopping 18 months for Dell to see its first million in sales from Twitter users. Turn the clock back to the middle of this decade, and the idea of a Dell system using an AMD processor would be considered facetious at best. Dell, had been an Intel-only shop from the beginning, and had only toyed with AMD processors from time to time in highly niche market systems. Many AMD fans considered Dell's acceptance of AMD processors as the holy grail for mainstream adoption in the PC market, a single act which would save AMD once and for all. We evaluated the original Dell XPS 730 in early May, shortly after its initial release. At the time, it was Dell's latest high-end gaming machine and the word on the street was that it would be the last to carry the XPS badge. Moving forward, Dell was to concentrate on their Alienware gaming brand and the XPS brand would lose its gaming focus to embrace multimedia and content creation. Last summer, Dell agreed to purchase Alienware in a controversial merger of two very different companies. Alienware, who was looking to raise capital to fund its world-wide expansion, found a good partner in Dell when it came to realize that it would be able to meet its demands while simultaneously benefiting from Dell's famous supply chain efficiencies. Over the past year, it has been interesting to see the emphasis that the big names are willing to put on the "enthusiast" crowd, in regards to notebooks. In the past, notebooks have been targeted towards businessmen and the like. These days, however, the variety is so wide that there is a notebook targeted to just about every niche and need.
