Google's G Suite has been around for a long time now, and one of the features that users have wanted since its inception was an offline mode. Google has now announced that users can work anywhere with a new offline mode for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The offline mode makes it easy for G Suite users to continue to work when they are offline or when they have a bad internet connection within Google Drive. A new offline preview mode allows users to see which files are available for offline. There is a fledgling wireless standard that effectively renders the vast majority of home networks out of date -- don't panic though, your stuff isn't necessarily obsolete. It is called Wi-Fi 6, if using the simplified nomenclature that the Wi-Fi Alliance introduced last year, or 802.11ax if you want to stick with the more technical (and potentially confusing for the average consumer) description. Graphics specialist NVIDIA on Monday announced it is acquiring Mellanox, a maker of high performance computing (HPC) chips, for $125 per share in cash. That values the deal at around $6.9 billion, making this NVIDIA's biggest transaction since it was founded two and a half decades ago. Mellanox is a major player in the data center space. The company pioneered the InfiniBand interconnect technology that is commonly used in HPCs found in data centers, and is a major supplier of end-to-end Ethernet solutions. Mesh networking is starting to take a foothold in the home market, but the technology has actually been around for quite sometime. We were first introduced to NVIDIA's 12nm Volta GV100 GPU architecture back in early May 2017 when the Tesla V100 Accelerator debuted. NVIDIA later extended its GV100 GPU to the Titan V (you can read the HotHardware review here), which is aimed at professional and academic deep learning applications. For those who need the ultimate in compute power, but can't accommodate a computer that would fill an entire room, NVIDIA's DGX-1 'supercomputer' fits the bill. Unveiled earlier this year at NVIDIA's own GTC, the DGX-1 is a server unit that packs in 8 of the company's ultra-powerful Tesla V100s, delivering a peak 960 TFLOPS of half-precision performance. We're not sure how many of these monsters are out in the wild, but one anonymous Geekbench user had access to one long enough to run the test, and immediately broke world records.
