OnePlus fans in the United States were bummed when the slick mid-range OnePlus Nord launched (read the HotHardware review here), but didn't come Stateside. A new report has surfaced that claims Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, has said that a Nord-branded device will be coming to the United States this year. The caveat is Pei said the device wouldn't necessarily be the same smartphone that launched outside the States. Any Nord-branded device that comes to the United States would likely be a mid-range smartphone, but there is no indication of specifications or exact timing. Smartphone makers from around the world are looking to jump into the mid-range market with devices that feature hardware... Read more...
It’s hard to believe that OnePlus is already six years old. The company’s all grown up now. You can find the OnePlus 8 in T-Mobile and Verizon stores, and the OnePlus 8 Pro competes directly with the best flagships from Apple and Samsung. But this has come at a price -- literally. With the OnePlus 8 costing $699+ and the OnePlus 8 Pro $899+, OnePlus is no longer first and foremost a price leader -- especially in fiercely competitive markets like Europe and India. And now there's the OnePlus Nord. In an outstanding example of masterful marketing, the company has spent months building up hype for a quality sub-$500 5G smartphone that lives up to its “Never Settle” catchphrase.... Read more...
After months of leaks and recent "feature drops" from OnePlus executives, the OnePlus Nord has officially been announced. Given that most of the major details about the phone have already been revealed (90Hz display, quad rear camera, dual selfie cameras, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G), today's unveil was a chance for OnePlus to really flesh out the other specifics of device. For starters, we now know that the 6.44-inch OLED display has an aspect ratio of 20:9 with a resolution of 2400x1080. The display doesn't have curved edges like the OnePlus 8 in an effort to reduce costs. The 90Hz display also houses a fast fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The Snapdragon 765G processor... Read more...

As in, if you own an Android or iOS device (and who doesn't these days), you can watch the event in AR, which is pretty neat. In order to do that, you need to download the app for your respective handset. Here are the links... OnePlus Nord AR for Android OnePlus Nord AR for iOS After downloading and installing the app, when you open it up, you will be given the option to create an avatar, though it is not required. OnePlus has been slowly dripping information on its upcoming Nord mid-range smartphone. The company is looking to hit the ground running with its first entry into the sector in years, and co-founder Carl Pei has provided some insight into (and images of) the smartphone prior to its release. In an interview with Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), Pei explained that the mid-range market is often seen as an "afterthought", as the primary drive of the industry as a whole is to "focus all of their time and energy on creating a great flagship [smartphone]". With the introduction of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765G, Pei feels that now is the time to re-enter the market with a great mid-range smartphone that... Read more...
Earlier this week, we learned a bit more about OnePlus' upcoming Nord mid-range smartphone. Specifically, we got to see a shot of the retail box, along with a quick glimpse of the smartphone from the rear revealing an elongated camera pod. Today, well respected gadget leaker Evan Blass has provided renders of the OnePlus Nord from both the front and the back, which pretty much confirms the entire design of the smartphone. While the renders show the Nord enclosed in a clear case, we can still make out the most important external features of the smartphone. For starters, up front we can see dual selfie cameras, which is a rarity these days in the Android realm. Previous rumors have suggested... Read more...
OnePlus is getting really serious about its upcoming Nord mid-range smartphone, which is going to take the company back to its "value" roots. In a post to its website this week, OnePlus confirmed that the Nord will launch on July 21st at 10am EST. In an interesting twist, OnePlus says that the launch will be available to view in augmented reality (AR). Given that the COVID-19 pandemic has ended the practice of crowds from around the world packing in like sardines within an auditorium for product launches, an AR experience is the next best thing. OnePlus says that it will make available an app for both Android and iOS to provide a “unique hands-on experience” with the Nord. In other... Read more...
With flagship Android smartphones powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 SoC easily hitting the $1,000 price point, many people are looking to cheaper alternatives that won't break the bank. Luckily, OnePlus has just a phone in the works that's called the Nord. OnePlus got official with the name of the smartphone earlier this week, and now exec Carl Pei is giving a few additional details on the mid-range smartphone. The OnePlus X was the company's first foray into the mid-range market, and launched at a $299 price point. But the company soon got away from that market as its set its sight squarely on flagship territory.  In an interview with TechRadar, Pei stated that his company... Read more...
It was just over six years ago when OnePlus made a splash in the smartphone market with the OnePlus One, an affordable handset that launched at $299 for the 16GB model, and $349 for the 64GB model. Driven by a "Never Settle" motto, OnePlus has focused on cramming premium features into handsets that undercut typical flagship pricing, though its latest models are not exactly cheap. In an attempt to get back to its roots, the company is readying a lower cost OnePlus Nord handset. This is something OnePlus has been teasing for several weeks now, with company CEO Pete Lau confirming in May that a cheaper phone would be returning to the lineup. Exactly how cheap remains to be seen, but co-founder Carl... Read more...
