In a matter of hours (if not already by the time you read this), the Entertainment Software Associate (ESA) will announce its decision to cancel this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), according to multiple reports. The gaming convention is the latest major event to be cancelled presumably due to concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. Mobile World Congress (MWC) was cancelled for the same reason last month, and NVIDIA recently decided to shift its GPU Technology Conference (GTC) to an online-only event. E3 is the next major gathering to follow suit—it is the largest event covering hardware and software in the gaming sector, though it has seen some major publishers pull out in recent... Read more...

Rockstar is on a roll and doing extremely well thanks to the smash hit Red Dead Redemption 2 that has moved 23 million copies as of February 2019. That game is tipped to be in the works for the PC, and some are expecting at least one big announcement at E3 2019 this summer from the game developer. A new rumor is making the rounds that Rockstar will have something that will blindside fans to announce at E3 2019. The rumor started on Reddit with a user named Thirdeyereddit who claimed to be a Take-Two employee. Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar Games. According to the Reddit user who claims to be "lower on the food chain," Take-Two was working on a landing page for something unannounced.... Read more...
Over the past month or so, we've been hearing lots of rumors concerning at least two follow-ups to the Nintendo Switch. Earlier this week, reports indicated that a Nintendo Switch Lite would launch in June with a more attractive price point than the $299 original. Today, however, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa made it clear that a June launch is out of the question. "We have no plans to announce that at this year's E3 in June," said Furukawa. He also added that "[We are] always working on new hardware and we will announce it when we are able to sell it.” The Nintendo Switch has proven to be popular with gamers, partly due to the fact that it is a hybrid system that allows you... Each year when E3 rolls around, we are never sure exactly what will be at the show. Companies come and go from the gaming event as it has shrunk over the years from its heyday where virtually every major gaming company used to participate. At E3 2019 we already know that Sony and the PlayStation crew won't be attending the show. Without the pressure of having to compete with Sony, many wondered if that meant that Microsoft and the Xbox group would skip the show as well. Well, Microsoft Executive VP Of Gaming, Phil Spencer has stepped up and made Microsoft's presence and participation at E3 2019 this year very clear. Spencer has stated in an interview with Larry Hyrb, that the Xbox presence at... Read more...
During E3 2018, one of the coolest game projects that was talked about came from CD Projekt Red and a title called Cyberpunk 2077. The devs rolled out a demo of the game that was 50 minutes long that had a mockup of the character creation system in it. In that creation system was a pair of generic male and female avatars on a blue background, both completely nude. The character's genitalia was covered by pixelated boxes in the demo and that was done for the E3 demo only. In the final version of the game that launches for players, those boxes are expected to be removed. Why the boxes in the demo? CD Projekt Red didn't want to have the press sidetracked by talk of nudity in the game, or to... Read more...
PC gamers and console gamers are sometimes rivals, with each camp touting their platform as the best. We all know #PCMasterRace is where it's at of course. If you venture to E3 it certainly seems as if consoles are the platform that most developers and publishers focus on. Sure, many of the games that you see at E3 are offered on PC, but it's rare to see the PC platform take the forefront in any of the keynotes at the show. However, as in years past, PC gamers got their own show at their own venue that ran concurrently with E3 called the PC Gaming Show. There were some very cool games talked about at the event from different publishers. The show did include a slew of new games, but many were... Read more...
If you needed any further proof that Fortnite is coming to the Nintendo Switch, then here you go. Twitter user Simon Aarons was able to get an early look at the Nintendo Switch eShop listing for Fortnite and has posted for all to see. Using the Shotgun Tool, Aarons was able to see plenty of details for the free-to-play game, including the fact that it will be released tomorrow, June 12th. That coincides with Nintendo's E3 keynote, which will start at 12PM EST tomorrow. We can also see its ESRB rating and the fact that the download will weigh in at just over 2GB. Other items of note are that the game will of course support add-on content, with V-Bucks and the Wingman Starter Pack... Read more...
E3 has kicked off and EA's press conference has gone down giving us an idea of what the publisher and its developers are working on. EA talked about some big games at the conference including a new Star Wars title, a sequel to Unravel, and a glimpse at the highly anticipated BioWare game Anthem that lands next February. We learned last week that Crackdown 3 for the Xbox had been delayed and is expected to launch in February as well. The rub with E3's conference for those hoping for something new is that all of the big games were already known. Perhaps the most anticipated game EA talked about is the BioWare blockbuster Anthem that is coming in February. Executive producer Mark Darrah... Read more...
Gamers have been patiently waiting for the next game in the Crackdown franchise. Crackdown 3 is the next installment and last summer the game was expected to launch alongside the Xbox One X, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the game was delayed with Sumo Digital and Microsoft pushing the title to a promised spring 2018 launch. Microsoft has confirmed another delay for Crackdown 3, and now promises that the game will launch in February 2019. At least this time out Microsoft has given a specific release month rather than a vague "this fall" or "this spring." Microsoft has also promised that more Crackdown 3 content will be shown off at E3 this Sunday. Microsoft wrote, "Our fans' response... Read more...

Yesterday morning, Bethesda offered a cryptic teaser for an upcoming Fallout game, simply telling gamers to #PleaseStandBy. Today, the developer has announced the next installment in the long-running franchise: Fallout 76. Bethesda announced the game via a teaser trailer that starts off with the familiar “Please Stand By” message and then proceeds to show of some staid cutscene footage along with a reference to 300 years since the Declaration of Independence (1776 - 2076). There's the specific date of October 27th 2102 featured prominently on a Pip-Boy along with footage showing the apparent aftermath of a party celebrating "Reclamation Day”.  Oh, and... Read more...
It appears that Bethesda has some new Fallout-themed gaming in store for us at this year's E3. The company posted a tweet this morning with a "Please Stand By" image, which we all by now know means that the release will be Fallout tinged. Given that the only text in the tweet is #PleaseStandBy, we can only speculate at this point as to what this teaser means. The most obvious answer could be that Bethesda is planning to port Fallout 4 to the Nintendo Switch. Fallout 4 was released two and a half years ago for the PC, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. #PleaseStandBy pic.twitter.com/5IUjkURCcM— Bethesda Game Studios (@BethesdaStudios) May 29, 2018 And given that Bethesda has already released DOOM (surprisingly)... E3 2018 will be here before you know it and ahead of the big show, some details are surfacing that give an idea of what Ubisoft will be bringing to the massive gaming industry party. Ubisoft's E3 event will have three AAA titles to talk about. In addition it's being reported that all three of these titles will land by the end of Ubi's current fiscal year. That means by March 31, 2019, barring any delays, which are common in the gaming industry realm, unfortunately. We know what two of those game titles will be -- The Crew 2 and The Division 2 have been officially confirmed. The third game is unannounced. However, at least some details on that unannounced game will land at E3. Ubisoft says... Read more...
Microsoft is getting set for E3 to kick off this summer and ahead of that event, Microsoft is adding some new features to the Xbox One. Microsoft says that some of these features build on other items it added last month and will roll out in the coming weeks. The big new addition will be support for 120Hz displays. This builds on the support added this month for the 1440p resolution along with auto low latency mode. This new feature will bring support for 120Hz monitors in 1080p and 1440p resolutions. The ability to group games and apps is coming with an enhancement to Pins called "Groups." Groups will allow users to create multiple collections of content that is made up of anything in the... The Nintendo Switch has been a sales blockbuster, which is a much needed “win” for the Japanese game company following the disappointed of its immediate predecessor: the Wii U. Given the excitement surrounding the Switch, which is still sold out at retailers across the United States, it should come as no surprise that the console will be the main focus of Nintendo’s upcoming E3 festivities. This time around, all eyes will be on Super Mario Odyssey, which marks the first sandbox-type Mario game since Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Mario fans were definitely excited when the first trailer for Super Mario Odyssey dropped earlier this year, and many were no doubt a little unsettled by Mario’s... Read more...
Listen up, gaming fans! Microsoft has announced the start time for its E3 media briefing, and it breaks from recent tradition. Microsoft usually holds its event on Monday morning during E3, however, this year the company has moved the event up to Sunday, June 11th at 5PM EST. This gives Microsoft a little bit more breathing room to distance itself from Sony, which usually holds its event on Monday evening. Microsoft’s schedule shakeup isn’t the only major change going on at E3 this year. It was announced last week that 2017 marks the first time that the public will be able to mingle on the show floor with the gaming press. The price of entry for dedicated “regular” gamers will be...   Color us surprised. In a break from long tradition, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced today that this year will the mark the first time ever that E3 will open its doors to the public. While it’s true that ESA made a separate spin-off show called E3 Live geared towards consumers last year (complete with free admission), E3 remained an industry-only affair. Starting Monday, February 13th, ESA will make 15,000 tickets available for sale to the public. The first 1,000 “Early Birds” will be able to purchase a ticket for $149. The remaining 14,000 will have to fork over $249 to gain admission to the show. Rich Taylor, ESA Senior VP of Communications, said that the reception... Read more...
Xbox One rumors are flying around like crazy today, and if the reports are accurate, we have a lot to look forward to from the Xbox hardware division over the next year. The first product supposedly on tap is a new Xbox One Slim, which is due to break cover at this year’s E3. This console will reportedly be smaller and thinner than the current Xbox One and will include a larger 2TB hard drive. With the exception of the downsized external dimensions and the larger HDD, all of the other key hardware specs are expected to remain largely the same. It’s also being reported that this console will be cheaper than the current Xbox One lineup, which seems debatable given the larger HDD. But we’ll just... Read more...
The Fallout 4 hype has hit epic levels in the past few weeks, and Bethesda simply knocked it out of the park last night by delivering some fresh details on the game along with a boatload of footage from the upcoming game. For starters, Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 4 will launch November 10 on the two leading current generation gaming consoles (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) as well as the PC on November 10, so mark your calendars. As for the game itself, Fallout 4 has been baking in the oven since the launch of Fallout 3 back in 2009. Six years is a damn long time to develop a new game, and although some fans have dogged the Fallout 4 for somewhat unimpressive graphics, there’s plenty about... Read more...
Remember how the old NES game Excitebike was amazingly cool because you could make your own courses? It took Nintendo 29 years to follow suit, but now you can actually design your own levels of Super Mario Bros. with the company’s upcoming “Mario Maker” on the Wii U. Nintendo is showing off the--game?--at E3, and judging by the trailer, it’s something that you can spend endless hours getting into. Using the Wii U’s GamePad touch screen, you can drag and drop all sorts of familiar pieces and characters into blank levels to create your own masterpieces. “Place blocks, pipes, lifts and enemies anywhere and play through the level,” teases Nintendo. “Want... Among places to not feel safe, the foothills of the Himalayas, in a bus with a monkey, at a checkpoint manned by rifle-wielding militiamen, with a psycho in a helicopter coming in for a landing, would be close to the top of the list. Yet that is exactly where we find ourselves in the 5-minute trailer for Far Cry 4, a game that takes place in the wild environs of the mountains. Ubisoft unveiled the trailer at E3, and it’s captivating. And brutal. Do yourself a favor and check it out. (Warning: NSFW. Mountain despots tend to use strong language.) If that doesn’t get your blood pumping, you’re not human. As we previously reported, Far Cry 4 will be out November 18th in the U.S.... Read more...
