Dell Outs Ryzen Powered Inspiron Gaming Desktop, Alienware Elite Gaming Mouse And Headset Ahead of E3
Computex is still in full swing, but Dell is already gearing up for E3 2018 kicking off next week. As part of that effort, the computer maker has announced a new gaming desktop called the Dell Inspiron Gaming Desktop 5676, along with a few premium gaming peripherals to lock and load it up for combat. The new desktop will be available on June 12th starting at $849.99, making it affordable for many gamers.
Dell is powering 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen processors under the hood of the desktops, to provide the power and responsiveness that gamers need. Various Radeon graphics solutions will be offered with select configurations being VR-ready with options up to the Radeon RX 580. Dual graphics cards are supported inside as well and gamers can opt for up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. There are of course Intel 8th Gen Core variants available, as well as GeForce GTX configs to choose from in other models of the desktop, one of which we reviewed here most recently.
Dell offers storage options with up to 2TB HDDs and SSDs up to 256GB. With lots of hardware inside the
Dell has also launched a new gaming mouse in the Alienware line that is called the Alienware Elite Gaming Mouse. One of the key features of that mouse is that it has two interchangeable side wings with either two or four buttons for FPS or MMORPG gamers. The palm rest has three positions allowing for different grip styles.
Four interchangeable 5-gram weights allow for customization and there are five configurable levels for on-the-fly DPI switching based on the gamers need. Depending on the side wing used the mouse has between nine and 11 programmable buttons and 512k of onboard storage for customization of buttons for different games. AlienFX lighting also allows gamers to choose lighting effects to suit their style. The new Alienware Elite Gaming Mouse will launch on July 31 for $89.99.
Dell also has a new Alienware Wireless Headset AW988 that promises 7.1 virtual surround sound. High fidelity 40mm Neodymium drivers deliver deep rich bass and an expansive soundscape with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20KHz. The microphone is a noise canceling unit that focuses on capturing the gamers voice over other environmental sounds.
When the mic is swiveled out from the body of the headset the headset informs the wearer that the mic is turned on and when stowed away the headset informs users the mic is off. Like most Alienware goodies, the AW988 headset features AlienFX lighting with two unique zones with 6.8 million colors. Comfort was a big focus for Dell and the headset uses sports mesh ear cushions, a wide and flexible headband, and lightweight composites and reinforced alloys for the rotatable ear cups.
Connectivity is via a 2.4GHz wireless system. Power comes from a 1200 mAh lithium-ion battery good for up to 15 hours of use per charge with AlienFX lighting off, or up to 8.7 hours with lighting on. Dell will launch the headset June 11 for $229.
