DFI 855GME-MGF and Pentium-M Dothan Desktop Performance
3DMark 05's CPU Test Module consists of two different 3D scenes that are generated with a software renderer, which is largely dependant on the host CPU's performance. This means that the calculations normally reserved for your 3D accelerator are instead sent to the central system processor. The number of frames generated per second in each test are used to determine the final weighted score.

3DMark05 is heavily optimized to take advantage of the latest Pentium 4 and Athlon 64 architectures. As such the Pentium M and DFI's 855GME-MGF motherboard don't hold up very well against these high end desktop CPUs in this test. However again, this is very much a synthetic benchmark and no real application or game engine on the market is based on any part of its code. Keep that in mind moving forward in this showcase, as we show you other gaming scenarios where clearly the Pentium M has a mountain of strength in gaming environments.
