ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe Battery Life And Conclusion

Virtually all smartphones on the market could benefit from better battery life. However, there's always a trade-off between performance and power consumption. To discern how the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe compares to other smartphones phones with respect to battery life, we ran it through AnTuTu Tester's Battery test, a high-load benchmark that aims to drain the battery in a device as quickly as possible.

The test sets the display brightness to high and cranks up workloads for the processor, graphics core, and memory, and runs through a number of real-world scripted workloads as well, including web browsing, gaming and video playback. There is also audio played back through the speaker for a few portions of the test.

How Long Did They Last?

The 5.7" ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe put up a decent score here, thanks to its 3,000mAh battery, but it trailed most of the current flagship devices we've tested and ultimately lands right about in the middle of the pack. In real-world use, we found the ZenFone 3 Deluxe's battery life to be more than adequate for a full day's use with moderate to heavy activity browsing the web, checking email, taking pictures, etc. And standby time was also very good -- the phone kept a charge while powered on, but asleep, for multiple days.

ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe Assessment And Conclusion

The 5.7” ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe is a top-notch smartphone and worthy of consideration for anyone considering a device of this size. It features one of the most powerful mobile processors currently available, has a copious 6GB of RAM, expandable storage, and a very good camera system. Capturing video in sub-optimal lighting may require tweaking a few settings, but still image captures are great – autofocus is fast, sharpness and resolution are good, and color saturation is realistic. If you like to snap photos in Auto mode, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe delivers the goods, but it’s also got a wealth of manual options should you like to tinker.
In comparison to some other flagship smartphones, the 5.7” ZenFone 3 Deluxe has a somewhat lower resolution screen, though the quality of the super AMOLED display is solid. It also lacks water or dust resistance, but those aren’t deal breakers in our book, when you consider a 64GB 5.7" ZenFone 3 Deluxe with 6GB of RAM is available, unlocked, for $599, and other Deluxe models with less memory and smaller screens can be found for as low as $369. That’s not a killer deal, but it is very competitive versus other similar-sized phones that have half the storage and less memory.

Overall, the 5.7” ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe is a strong product, that compares well to other flagship smartphones in its class. There are other smartphones in this class with a few more features, but if you dig the ZenFone 3 Deluxe’s design and are shopping for an unlocked smartphone, we think you’ll be happy with its performance, battery life, camera, build and design quality.
