ASUS ZenFone 3 Family Adds Deluxe Special Edition With Snapdragon 821, 256GB Storage

On two previous occasions, ASUS has announced new members of its ZenFone 3 family. Between the jumble of specs and models relegated to certain localities, a few bits may have been dropped in translation. However, at the company’s Zenvolution event held this evening, ASUS made things crystal clear surrounding the ZenFone 3 family, and what versions will be available to the U.S. market.

Starting from the budget end, we have the ZenFone 3 Laser which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. As you can tell by the processor selected, this is geared at users that care more about budget pricing than tantalizing specs. You’ll receive a 5.5-inch 1080p display covered in Gorilla Glass 3, a 13MP PixelMaster rear camera with dual LED flash, 8MP PixelMaster front-facing camera, rear-mounted fingerprint reader and a 3000 mAh battery.

Moving on up, we have the ZenFone 3 Deluxe 5.5, which also incorporates (as you might expect) a 5.5-inch 1080p display covered in Gorilla Glass 4. However, this particular smartphone gets a boost in processing power with a Snapdragon 625 SoC and 4GB RAM. Internal storage is doubled to 64GB while an 16MP rear camera with a Sony Exmor 216 image sensor is included along with optical image stabilization. Selfie shots are taken care of by an 8MP camera with an 85-degree wide-angle lens. The ZenFone Deluxe 5.5 retains the 3000 mAh battery of the ZenFone 3 Laser, but adds Quick Charge 3.0 support.

But ASUS doesn’t stop there, next on the list is the ZenFone 3 Deluxe 5.7. Here, we’re stepping up to the big leagues with a 5.7-inch AMOLED display, albeit still with a 1080p resolution. The ZenFone Deluxe 5.7 features a high-end Snapdragon 820 processor with a healthy 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 23MP rear camera that uses Sony’s Exmor IMX312 sensor with image stabilization.

At the top of the totem pole is the ZenFone 3 Deluxe 5.7 Special Edition (say that three times fast) which takes the base ZenFone 3 Deluxe 5.7 and adds a Snapdragon 821 processor and a 256GB of internal storage.
