ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe Review: Unlocked Android With 6GB RAM And 64GB Storage

Next up, we have GFXBench, which has been one of our standard mobile graphics performance benchmarks for quite a while now. In order to ensure V-sync and resolution are not limiting factors, we are comparing Offscreen test results here.

We also ran Futuremark's 3DMark benchmark, which has been a staple 3D graphics benchmark at HotHardware across all mobile and desktop platforms for many years. In particular we ran 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited, which is targeted for mobile devices and also runs at 720p in offscreen mode, so as to take display resolution out of the equation. We tossed Basemark X into the mix too, which is another cross-platform graphics benchmark.

In the Manhattan off-screen test, the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe trailed other flagship devices by a few frames per second. In the T-Rex test, however, the ZenFone 3 competes more favorably as is among the fastest devices at the top of the charts.

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe performed relatively well in the 3DMark Unlimited test. Here, its Physics score is strong and the overall Ice Storm score is among the very best. Tunneling down into the actual framerates in the 3DMark game tests, we see the ZenFone 3 Deluxe and its Adreno 530 GPU put up one of the highest framerates in GT2 and the third best in GT1.

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe once again just missed taking top honors here, falling victim to only the Moto Z Droid by a couple of percentage points in the Basemark X Game Test.

Even before being exposed to the Commodore P.E.T. and later the Commodore 64 in the early ‘80s, he was interested in electricity and electronics, and he still has the modded AFX cars and shop-worn soldering irons to prove it. Once he got his hands on his own Commodore 64, however, computing became Marco's passion. Throughout his academic and professional lives, Marco has worked with virtually every major platform from the TRS-80 and Amiga, to today's high end, multi-core servers. Over the years, he has worked in many fields related to technology and computing, including system design, assembly and sales, professional quality assurance testing, and technical writing.
