Back in May '04, NVIDIA introduced the GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition to counter the launch of ATi's Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition, and gamers the world over took notice.  Just a few weeks earlier, the GeForce 6800 Ultra was unveiled, and at the time it was smoking through benchmarks like nobody's business.  Then, about a month later NVIDIA announces this new card and it's got a 16-Pipe NV40 core running a full 50MHz faster than the "stock" 6800 Ultra.  On top of that, it was said that some AIC partners may even ship cards with faster memory as well, offering even higher performance.  Today, we'll be taking a look at just such a card. The eVGA GeForce 6800... Read more...

Being successful, especially in the computer hardware industry, is no easy task.  While some companies struggle to win over customers with just a smattering of products, NVIDIA's brand recognition almost seemed to guarantee them success on a regular basis.  What seems like not so long ago, the nForce2 Ultra chipset was taking the AMD Athlon XP motherboard market by storm and today it still remains the chipset of choice for those with an Athlon XP.  The nForce2 chipset offered it all in terms of connectivity, speed, and reliability - but it was released well over a year ago and NVIDIA feels it is time for some change. Today in the HotHardware labs we're going to take a look at the... Read more...

DFI LANParty NFII Ultra B vs. ABIT AN7 The Clash of the nForce2 Ultra's By: Tom Laverriere February 29, 2004       Fast, stable, feature-rich and affordable, these are just some of the words we have chosen historically, when speaking about NVIDIA's nForce2 chipset.  Over the past year we have seen quite a few of these motherboards come through the HotHardware labs and most lived up to our expectations surrounding this Athlon motherboard chipset technology.  When considering a motherboard sporting the nForce2 chipset, there usually isn't a lot to differentiate one manufacturer from another.  The same set of features such as Dual  Channel DDR memory... The MSI FX5950 Ultra-VTD256 NVIDIA's Flagship GPU, MSI Style... By, Marco Chiappetta February 12, 2004 After facing some fierce competition from ATi's R3x0 GPUs and fielding a mountain of criticism regarding questionable driver "optimizations", NVIDIA has had to deal with quite a bit of adversity as of late.  They have also had to contend with the fact that multiple, long-time partners like Asus and Abit, for example, broke with tradition and released new video cards powered by rival GPUs.  However, one of their largest and most respected partners, Micro-Star International or MSI, is still on-board.  Tonight on HotHardware.Com, we're going to take a look at MSI's current... The BFG Asylum GeForce FX 5700 Ultra 128MBs, AGP 8X, and the Muscle to Get the Job Done! By, Jeff Bouton December 11, 2003 As 2003 comes to a close, we have to wonder if NVIDIA is looking to 2004 with eager anticipation.  The last year has been tough for them, to say the least, with a number of nagging issues plaguing the embattled graphics giant.  The once king of the graphics market is still struggling to set the record straight on the whole "optimization" topic, as ATi has strengthened their position in the market with a number of very successful product releases, solidly challenging the GeForce FX line.  To top it off, there has been a number of OEMs jumping ship... NVIDIA'S GeForce FX 5950 Ultra NV38 takes flight propelled with a new driver set By David Altavilla October 23,  2003 Let's see, how should we start this one off?  We think you deserve to be spared the marketing hype, positioning, branding, buzz and sputter on this launch.  "Launch", now there's a marketing word if I ever heard one.  What Marketing Weasel got the royalties for that catchy one?  "Let's call our new product introduction a "launch", kind of like a rocket, you know?  That will sound really cool!"  So, why the cut-to-the-chase, no punches pulled attitude, with this HotHardware article, you're thinking?  Well, suffice... The Albatron Gigi GeForce FX 5200 Ultra Mainstream With Muscle? By - Tom Laverriere October 28, 2003 When a new OEM emerges in PC Hardware, their products are initially gawked at from afar, as most end users are reluctant to take the plunge into uncharted waters.  As soon as a few end users claim good experiences with new hardware, word spreads and the bandwagon jumping begins.  It's safe to say that Albatron has become one of these companies as of late.  Since Albatron came onto the scene only a short time ago, they have become target of exploration for some in the hardware enthusiast community.  Their products boast innovative features and designs, seemingly without compromising... NVIDIA's GeForce FX 5700 Ultra NVIDIA's immediate answer to the 9600 XT By Robert Maloney October 23rd,  2003 What a difference a week can make.  Just a week ago yesterday, when the NDA lifted on the ATi Radeon 9600 XT, we had nothing but praise for the great performance that ATi was offering with their new mainstream solution.  Our tests compared the 9600 XT to the previous model, the 9600 Pro, and a card from NVIDIA's camp, the GeForce FX 5600.  A quick recap of that review, had the Radeon 9600 XT winning all of the benchmarks, easily capturing the lead in the mainstream video card business - at least for the time being.  We told you, however, to keep your eyes out... The Asus V9950 Ultra - GeForce FX 5900 Ultra The First Single-Slot Ultra to Hit Our Lab... By - Marco Chiappetta September 9, 2003 Recently it seems as though NVIDIA has made a few wrong moves, that got them a ton of bad press. First, there was the whole 3DMark03 situation. Then came the Unreal Tournament 2003 filtering "bug". These issues along with all of the resulting commentary were significant and had to be discussed, but they distracted many people from the fact that NVIDIA's NV35 GPU was a very noteworthy product.  With the NV35, now named the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, NVIDIA eliminated most of the 5800 Ultra's shortcomings. The 5900 Ultra enjoys the benefits of a 256-bit wide... Read more...
