A new rumor is going around that fans of Capcom's "Resident Evil 3" will be thrilled to hear. The rumor says that "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis" is being remade and will land sometime in 2020. The rumor started with the popular YouTube channel Spawn Wave. The track record with this particular YouTube channel, however, has been spotty at best. They were correct in calling out "Elden Ring" before it was announced, but had a big miss when they claimed there was a "Metroid Prime" trilogy coming. To make this rumor a bit more trustworthy, there have been other sources that have reportedly confirmed the remake is coming. Earlier this year, a remake of Resident Evil 2 launched, so a remake of the third... Read more...

The official trailer for the game shows a group of four survivors fighting their way through a building of some sort. The survivors are using shotguns, handguns, and melee weapons to kill attacking zombies and other creatures. The trailer also shows a fifth character sitting in a lab somewhere controlling the action by unleashing the zombies on the survivors. At one... Read more...

Grim news and missteps dominate our console news this week. Sony advised investors that it was headed for its 4th straight year of posting an annual net loss. The company's underperforming TV business (now eight years in the red) was a significant drain on the company's finances. The company blames "a decrease in LCD television sales, reflecting price declines due mainly to deterioration in market conditions in the US and Europe and unfavorable foreign exchange rates." Hardware revenue declined "reflecting a strategic price reduction of PlayStation 3 hardware in advance of the year-end holiday season," while software sales have been markedly down for all platforms the last three months. Sony... Read more...
A few weeks back, we covered Capcom's decision to limit Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3DS to a single save-game slot. That move was widely condemned as an attempt to hamper the game's attractiveness on the second-hand market, despite Capcom's assurances that being unable to restart the title and log their own achievements wasn't something players would care about. Sony has also opted to pounce on this particular bandwagon. The company has stated that it will include a single-use "PSN Pass" code with certain upcoming titles, beginning with Resistance 3. Sony has yet to explain exactly which features the code activates but notes that "full online access" is only available if a code is given. Ars Technica... Read more...
When it comes to video game sales, there's no love lost between game publishers and game retailers--particularly GameStop. Nearly half (48.1 percent) of GameStop's profits come from sales of used games. The company's entire business model is built around the acquisition and sale of previously owned games. Such sales are pure profit to the company. GameStop has never released an estimate of how often the same copy of a game passes through a store, but the combination of a popular title and good location could easily lead to multiple resales. Game publishers hate the fact that they're completely cut off from this revenue stream; a member of Lionhead Studios made headlines last May when he declared... Read more...
