The hits just keep coming for those that have bought a new iPhone 12 and are looking to tap into Apple's growing MagSafe accessory ecosystem. The company has just now confirmed that its 29W chargers, which were still on sale as recently as two years ago, are insufficient for charging two devices with the new MagSafe Duo wireless charger (which can charge an iPhone 12 and Apple Watch simultaneously). Before we even get into the latest charging fiasco with the MagSafe Duo, we must first tackle the absurdity of the notion that this wireless charger doesn't even come with a wall power adapter. A wall adapter is necessary for the product to work, and at $129, you would think that Apple would include... Read more...
As far as smartphone displays go, it gets no better than Apple's flagship iPhone 12 Pro Max, according to recent test results by an independent display testing lab. A series of varied display tests reveal that the 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display (an OLED screen with a 2778x1284 resolution and 458 pixel per inch density) on the top iPhone model excels at pretty much everything. Of course, it should be great, with a price tag that starts at $1,099 for the 128GB model, while jumping to $1,199 for the 256GB version and $1,399 for the 512GB handset. For the same money, you could buy a decent gaming laptop, or both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 (if you could find either one in stock, that is).... Read more...
After months of leaks and speculation, Apple iPhone 12 family has finally been officially announced. Given how much ink has been spilled about the smartphones up to this point, most of you should already be pretty familiar with Apple has to offer. As in previous years, the iPhone 12 lineup is being split into two distinct families: the mainstream iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12, along with the flagship iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12  These are the entry-level models in the new smartphone family, and they are both powered by Apple’s new A14 Bionic SoC. Apple’s new A14 Bionic SoC is a 6-core design that is claimed to be 50 percent faster than any... Read more...
Apple is holding its iPhone 12 event later today (1pm EST to be exact), but serial leaker Evan Blass has already provided us with the first official photos of the smartphones (along with a bonus). The images don’t really tell us what we didn’t already know, but they at least confirm the design of the smartphones along with the colors that they will be available in. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 will be available in Black, Blue, Green, (Product) Red, and White. We can also confirmation of dual rear cameras on the back of the smartphones, which is in keeping with last year’s best-selling iPhone 11. iPhone 12 Pro Moving on to the “pro”... Read more...
Apple announced earlier this week that it will be revealing its iPhone 12 family on Tuesday, October 13th. The new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models are arriving later in the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are highly anticipated among the Apple faithful. Apple leaker Kang, who has a generally reliable track record when it comes to leaks, is giving us a final rundown of details for the upcoming smartphone family including pricing ahead of the official reveal. There aren't many surprises here compared to previous leaks, but we do get some revised pricing details for the cheapest member of the family: the iPhone 12 mini. iPhone 12 mini  5.4-inch OLED display A14... It looks as though we finally have a date for Apple's upcoming iPhone 12 keynote: October 13th. For those that have followed Apple's history of iPhone announcements, this upcoming virtual event is arriving roughly a month later than usual. As you might expect, we can blame the COVID-19 pandemic for disrupting global supply chains, which delayed production. Apple isn't giving many hints with its invite, other than to say "Hi, Speed". We take this to mean the new A14 Bionic SoC, which was first introduced with the 4th generation iPad Air. According to benchmarks that leaked over the weekend, the A14 Bionic offers roughly a 20 percent uplift in performance over the A13 Bionic in the iPhone... Read more...
We’re still awaiting invites to be sent out for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro virtual keynote address. The phones are expected to be announced sometime this month (with availability in November), but Apple is being tight-lipped about the exact reveal date. In the meantime, we have to rely on leaks to give us some insight into what Apple is planning, and the latest one seems highly plausible. The leak pertains to pricing for the entire lineup starting with the iPhone 12 mini and topping out with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. According to the leaker, @a_rumors1111, here’s how the full stack will play out: iPhone 12 mini  64GB $649 128GB $699 256GB $799 iPhone... Read more...
Apple is on track to announce its new iPhone 12 family sometime this month, or perhaps in early October. Given testing delays that cropped up due to COVID-19, the latest iPhones are launching a few weeks later than previous models. With that being said, one spec that has seemingly been confirmed for all of the upcoming iPhones is 5G support, but a new report is shedding light on to what exactly that will entail. According to sources for Fast Company, only the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have mmWave support. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is the largest of the incoming smartphones, and features a 6.7-inch OLED display (1242 x 2688). Allegedly, only the iPhone 12 Pro Max has enough space inside its chassis... Apple is expected to unveil its full iPhone 12 lineup next month, which will consist of two iPhone 12 and two iPhone 12 Pro SKUs. However, it’s the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max that will be the focus of our attention this morning. Serial leaker Jon Prosser first posted screens shots taken from within the Settings app of an alleged 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. The device in question is a production validation test (PVT), or prototype. There’s an enable LiDAR toggle, which is labeled “This enables LiDAR assisted auto focus and subject detection for Video and Night Mode.” LiDAR functionality for Apple was first introduced earlier this year with the fourth generation... Each passing week has brought us new information on Apple's upcoming iPhone 12 family, and this week is no different. According to previous leaks, we're fairly confident that the 2020 smartphone lineup will include 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models along with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro models The latest leak claims that Apple will finally increase the base storage on its smartphones from 64GB to 128GB. Apple has notoriously been stingy when it comes to base storage on its devices (the latest iPad still comes saddled with 32GB for the entry-level SKU), and it's a slap in the face to customers paying $999 for a current-generation iPhone 11 Pro to only get 64GB. Apple's... Read more...
Apple earlier this month gave a short in the arm to its mid-range smartphone lineup with the iPhone SE. Putting a current-generation A13 Bionic SoC into the chassis of the popular iPhone 8 form-factor at the $399 price point has proven to be a popular move for the company. Now that the iPhone SE introduction has come and gone, everyone is turning their attention to how the upcoming iPhone 12 family with square up with respect to pricing and features. These will be the first smartphones from Apple with 5G connectivity, so many are rightfully concerned that we might see yet another price hike from Apple (as we've seen from Android OEMs like Samsung and OnePlus). That might not actually... Read more...
Is the CAD render below our first good look at the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro Max? It very well could be if accurate, and the details from this latest leak confirms information that was first revealed earlier this week in a separate report. It was previously reported the iPhone 12 Pro would feature an exterior design more akin to the iPad Pro family with the soft corners being tossed in favor of flat sides and hard edges. To our eyes, it looks like a mix of both iPad Pro and iPhone 5S/iPhone SE styling cues, which date all the way back to 2010’s iPhone 4. We also see a much smaller display notch for the earpiece speaker, Face ID hardware, and selfie camera. It’s also reported that... Read more...
