Last month, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7T, which was a slightly refreshed version of the OnePlus 7 that debuted earlier this year. At the time, there was no sign of the rumored OnePlus 7T Pro, even though we had seen images and benchmarks of the device. Today, the OnePlus 7T Pro has been officially revealed, and it is pretty much what we were all expecting. The OnePlus 7T Pro continues to impress with its gorgeous 6.67-inch (3120x1440) 90Hz notch-less display. Also making a return is the pop-up selfie camera, which is missing from the OnePlus 7T, along with a vertically-arranged triple-camera setup on the back. OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition What's new is on the inside, including Qualcomm's... Read more...
If you're looking for the ultimate Android gaming phone on the market, the ASUS ROG Phone II is now available to purchase in the United States... and it actually costs less than a new Apple iPhone 11 Pro. The smartphone is priced at $899, which undercuts the iPhone 11 Pro by $100 (it's also $200 cheaper than the iPhone 11 Pro Max). That price will get you a 6.6-inch Full HD+ (2340x1080) AMOLED 10-bit HDR panel with a speedy 120Hz refresh rate. This refresh rate can be adjusted from 60Hz to 120Hz on command from Settings, and can even be set on a per-app basis. Powering the smartphone is Qualcomm's current top dog SoC: the Snapdragon 855+. This beastly chip features boosted CPU and GPU... Read more...
We finally have a reveal date for the next-generation flagship smartphone from OnePlus. The company confirmed this morning that its OnePlus 7T Series of smartphones will debut on September 26th, which is a little over a week away from today. Unfortunately, the invite that OnePlus sent out to the press is very light on details, other than to reference the return of the 90Hz display that debuted on the OnePlus 7 Pro earlier this year (read the HotHardware review here). However, we're nearly certain that the OnePlus 7T Pro will be powered by the potent Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor that is targeted at gaming phones. According to a recent leak regarding the OnePlus 7T Series, the OnePlus... Read more...
The Vivo Nex 3 is now official, and confirms the leaks that we first saw a few months ago. The smartphone sports a wicked high screen-to-body ratio that stands at 99.6 percent. With that being said, there are still tiny bezels found at the bottom and top of the 6.89-inch Full HD+ Waterfall curved display. What you won't find on the Nex 3 is a display notch, which suits us just fine. To make up for the lack of a selfie camera nestled in a notch or a punch hole cutout, the Nex 3 uses a pop-up 16MP selfie camera with an LED flash. The camera can extend out in just 0.65 seconds and will automatically retract if you drop the smartphone so that you don't damage the mechanism. Moving to the back... Read more...
If you though that OnePlus was one of the few that could build a flagship Snapdragon 855 smartphone at a relatively reasonable price; you ain't seen nothing yet. When ASUS announced the ZenFone 6 way back in May, it hinted at a price tag of less than $600. However, today the ZenFone 6 is launching with an unheard of $499 price tag. In addition to the aforementioned Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, the base spec will get you 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If 64GB of storage is too skimpy for you, a microSD card slot is included to add an additional 2TB of external storage. There will also be an optional upgrade with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, but ASUS has not yet announcing... Read more...
Samsung is set to unveil its all-new Galaxy Note 10 flagship smartphone family at a Samsung Unpacked event on Wednesday, August 7th. Fortunately, we already know quite a bit about the smartphone so far, which means that this week's unveil is more of a formality at this point.  Processor Up until a few days ago, we were pretty certain about what would power the Galaxy Note 10; now we're not so sure. While we had originally expected that global versions of the smartphones would get the Samsung Exynos 9825 and U.S. phones would get some variant of the Snapdragon 855, Evan Blass threw a monkey wrench into the rumors late last week. According to Blass, while the global versions of the... Read more...
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ launch is just days away, which means that we're getting further refinements on information that has leaked over the past few months. It also means that reliable gadget leaker Evan Blass is providing some updated details on what his sources are whispering into his ear about the new phones. In this case, we're getting some rather surprising news on the SoC that will be powering the Galaxy Note 10 family. It was first rumored that the flagship smartphones destined for the U.S. market would be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC, and then it was thought that the smartphones would use the newly released Snapdragon 855 Plus. Blass is now saying... Read more...
After weeks of leaks, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S6 professional tablet has finally been officially unveiled to the world. If you've been following our coverage on the leaks, you're probably already familiar with the looks of the Galaxy Tab S6, but Samsung today is confirming many of the specs and features that were previously rumored. The most dominant feature of the Galaxy Tab S6 is of course its large 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display (2560x1600 resolution). The bezels are relatively narrow around the display, giving it a similar appearance to the most recent iPad Pro models from Apple. However, whereas the iPad Pro manages slim bezels by ditching the old and tired home button for Face... Read more...
For flagship Android smartphones that have launched during the first half of 2019, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 has been the go-to option to get the best performance. The Snapdragon 855 is used in everything from the Samsung Galaxy S10 family to the OnePlus 7 Pro to the ASUS ZenFone 6 to the LG G8 ThinQ. However, out of left field, Qualcomm has dropped a bombshell on the tech community with the announcement of the new Snapdragon 855 Plus. The Snapdragon 855 Plus is not a huge departure from its "non-Plus" counterpart, but it does offer a Kryo 485 Prime core with a clock speed of 2.96GHz (up from 2.84GHz). In addition, the Adreno 640 GPU sees its performance improved by roughly... Read more...
When we think of Samsung's flagship smartphones, we typically envision the Galaxy S series or the Galaxy Note. These smartphones offer the fastest SoCs, innovative display technologies and the latest and greatest features. But as we've seen recently, Samsung is more than willing to bring flagship features down to its mid-range offerings. That will apparently continue with the introduction of the Galaxy A90. According to reliable gadget leaker OnLeaks, Samsung is preparing two versions of the Galaxy A90, and both look to be impressive mid-range smartphones catering to those that like huge displays. The A905 is the standard model accordion to OnLeaks, while A908 refers to the... Read more...
ASUS has just announced a new flagship smartphone that is powered by none other than Qualcomm's ubiquitous Snapdragon 855 SoC. If the trend in 2018 was to launch smartphones with larger displays that notches cut into them, 2019 seems to be the year of the punch hole cutout or completely unblemished displays with minimal bezels. ASUS has taken the latter route with the all-new ZenFone 6, which features a 6.4-inch notchless NanoEdge display (92 percent screen-to-body ratio) with a resolution of 2340x1080. There are minimal bezels all around and no signs of a front-facing selfie camera. Instead, the ZenFone 6 features a motorized Flip Camera module that is normally pointing reward. However,... OnePlus today officially revealed its latest flagship smartphone, which is powered by the hottest mobile SoC on the planet right now: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. The OnePlus 7 Pro is a powerhouse flagship that has enough muscle and features to take on the best that its Android competitors have to offer, while offering a price that is hard to beat. This beast of a smartphone pairs the Snapdragon 855 with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of ultra-fast UFS 3.0 internal storage. Up front, you have a nearly bezel-free display design thanks to the fact that the OnePlus 7 Pro uses a motorized pop-up 16MP selfie camera that hides away when not in use. The pop-up mechanism presents in 0.53 seconds and is... Read more...
The Essential Phone introduced us to the display notch, and its prevalence in flagship phones ballooned with the release of the Apple iPhone X a few months later. Now, save for a few smartphones from Chinese OEMs with pop-up selfie cameras, most flagship smartphones have some type of display notch. However, Sharp isn't content with just having a single notch on its latest smartphone: the Aquos R3. Instead, the smartphone has two notches -- one at the top, and one at the bottom. The top notch wraps around the 16.3MP selfie camera, while the bottom notch curves around the bottom-mounted fingerprint sensor.  It's definitely an interesting looking device with the dual notches, and... We’re just a few weeks away from the official launch of the OnePlus 7 family of flagship smartphones, but the leaks have been coming in at a rapid pace. Today, we’ve got a clear look at the OnePlus 7 Pro in two different colors: Mirror Grey and Nebula Blue.  The images, which show the smartphone from the front and the back, confirm the notch-less display, which is made possible by a pop-up selfie camera. Also clearly visible are minimal bezels around the display and the inclusion of an in-display fingerprint reader; a holdover from the OnePlus 6T.  Out back, we get a glimpse at the triple rear cameras, which is an upgrade from the dual cameras on the OnePlus 6T....
