After weeks of leaks, Samsung's Galaxy Tab S6 professional tablet has finally been officially unveiled to the world. If you've been following our coverage on the leaks, you're probably already familiar with the looks of the Galaxy Tab S6, but Samsung today is confirming many of the specs and features that were previously rumored.

The most dominant feature of the Galaxy Tab S6 is of course its large 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display (2560x1600 resolution). The bezels are relatively narrow around the display, giving it a similar appearance to the most recent iPad Pro models from Apple. However, whereas the iPad Pro manages slim bezels by ditching the old and tired home button for Face ID, the Galaxy Tab S6 integrates an optical fingerprint sensor directly into the display.

You'll find an 8MP camera in the top bezel of the display, and in a rather different take for a tablet; there are two cameras on the back of the device. The 13MP primary sensor is joined by a secondary 5MP sensor. Just below the rear camera pod you'll find a recessed area in the chassis which holds the tablet's S Pen. The S Pen can wirelessly recharge when it magnetically attaches to its "holding area". The S Pen has remote control functionality, allowing you to take selfies and scroll through content without physically touching the tablet.

Running the show is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, which is available in two RAM/storage configurations. Base systems will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the top-end spec includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. With either configuration, a microSD slot is included to expand your storage (something that we can't say for the iPad Pro).

On the power front, there's a 7,040 mAh battery that supports fast-charging via it bottom-mounted USB-C port. As for wireless connectivity, there's 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Samsung has also fitted quad speakers to the Galaxy Tab S6 that are AKG tuned and support Dolby Atmos audio.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Tab S6 will be available on September 6th with a starting price of $649 (preorders open on August 23rd from Samsung.com). The tablet will be available in Mountain Gray, Cloud Blue or Rose Blush. An LTE model is also coming "later this year" according to Samsung.
