ASUS has just announced a new flagship smartphone that is powered by none other than Qualcomm's ubiquitous Snapdragon 855 SoC. If the trend in 2018 was to launch smartphones with larger displays that notches cut into them, 2019 seems to be the year of the punch hole cutout or completely unblemished displays with minimal bezels.

ASUS has taken the latter route with the all-new ZenFone 6, which features a 6.4-inch notchless NanoEdge display (92 percent screen-to-body ratio) with a resolution of 2340x1080. There are minimal bezels all around and no signs of a front-facing selfie camera. Instead, the ZenFone 6 features a motorized Flip Camera module that is normally pointing reward. However, when selfies are required, the module flips 180 degrees pointing the Sony IMX586 48MP main camera (f/1.79) and 13MP ultrawide camera (120 degrees) directly at the user.

ASUS says the Flip Camera module is made out of liquid metal, which is four times stronger than stainless steel, but manages to be 20 percent lighter at the same time. Like the OnePlus 7 Pro, the Flip Camera module uses a G sensor to detect if the phone has been dropped and will quickly retract to its default position to prevent damage.

Complimenting the Snapdragon 855 SoC is 8GB of RAM and a capacious 256GB of internal storage. If you need to expand storage, there's a microSD slot that accommodates up to 2TB cards. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor (bucking the in-display trend present on many of today's flagship Android smartphones), dual-SIM support, dual stereo speakers, FM radio support and a massive 5,000 mAh battery that ASUS says provides 2 days of runtime.
