Samsung’s Hot Galaxy Fold Snapdragon 855 Flagship Folding Phone Hits T-Mobile April 25th

Samsung dazzled tech enthusiasts when it first unveiled the production version of the Galaxy Fold in late February, and now we’re getting a firm launch date for the smartphone in the United States. Third-place U.S. wireless carrier T-Mobile announced this morning that the Galaxy Fold will be available on its network later this month.

Interestingly, the company isn’t talking at all about pricing, trade-in deals or any other special promotions that are applicable to the Galaxy Fold, which is somewhat odd. T-Mobile is often quick to point towards its pricing advantage compared to other carriers. And given that the Galaxy Fold carries a suggested MSRP of $1,980, there’s no doubt that customers will be looking to take advantage of any potential promotions so that they can afford such an expensive smartphone. The company simply says “stay tuned” for pricing information.

With that being said, T-Mobile states that you will be able to order your very own Galaxy Fold starting April 25th at 9pm EST. Likewise, you can visit a local T-Mobile store to see the device in person and purchase it.

We should note that T-Mobile will only be selling the 4G LTE version of the Galaxy Fold – for now – and that it will support the carrier’s 600MHz extended range spectrum for better coverage in buildings and rural areas.

As for the Galaxy Fold itself, the smartphone features a large 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display that can be folded when not in use, making for a more compact smartphone when slipped into a pocket or purse. When the larger display is folded, you can also interact with the smartphone using a smaller 4.6-inch cover display.

The Galaxy Fold is powered by Qualcomm’s state-of-the-art Snapdragon 855 SoC with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage. There are a total of six cameras available to the users and there is a dual battery system employed with a total of 4380 mAh capacity to get you through the day.

We’ll provide additional updates once pricing information is available direct from T-Mobile. Separately, Samsung announced that anyone that signed up to receive additional information on the Galaxy Fold from its website will be able to cut in line and preorder the Galaxy Fold starting tomorrow. The company also noted that Galaxy S10 5G preorders will open in the United States next month.

“This is a pivotal moment for U.S. consumers—two new groundbreaking devices are coming to market that, each in their own unique way, will change the future of the mobile landscape,” said Travis Warren, SVP and Head of Carrier Sales and Operations for Samsung Electronics America. “We design our Galaxy devices to open up incredible opportunities for users, and the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S10 5G are taking that legacy to a whole new level.”
