We are using the standard benchmark settings from Bapco, along with a few other minor system tweaks. The screensaver was disabled and volume was set at approximately 20%.
MobileMark 2002 utilizes the following applications:
- Microsoft Word 2002

- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
- Microsoft Outlook 2002
- Netscape Communicator6.0
- McAfee VirusScan 5.13
- Adobe Photoshop 6.0.1

- WinZip 8.0
The white papers for MobileMark are available on Bapco's website should you want to read up on how this benchmark works. In the graph above, higher scores equal better performance.
The V4000 shares the same battery along with the M2000, V2000, HP's DV1000, HP's DV4000, and the previously reviewed ZE2000 from HP.
As we noted in our ZE2000 review, the down side of choosing a 12 cell battery is that it is a heftier battery pack and sticks out the backside of the notebook. If you don't need to go anywhere, stick with the 6 cell battery pack. You will do just fine. We plugged in a 1.6GHz Pentium M 730 as a representation of what to expect from a current V4000 notebook.
Charge time for the batteries from 0% to 100% is as follows (real world numbers, not estimates):
- 6 cell primary - 2 hours and 7 minutes
